Chapter 245: Chapter 187 Where Did the Venom Go_1

The atmosphere in the car was shattered by an abrupt "grunt".

Looking at Feng Yi’s face through the rearview mirror and seeing that he seemed alright, Ding said, "Boss, while you were inside just now, Director He called you. Why don’t you check if he’s left a message or give him a call back?"

"Hmm."

Feng Yi responded, but he didn’t rush to look at his phone—if it were urgent, Director He would have made it clear.

He deftly took some food out from a small storage compartment in the car, snacks like Bing’s homemade jerky or biscuits. Before every trip, the butler would always place some inside the car.

To ease his hunger, Feng Yi checked the chat messages on his phone, looked at Director He’s message, and then returned his call.

Director He only had two things to tell Feng Yi. First, Feng Yi had been promoted from a temporary advisor to an official advisor and had been selected as an official member of the expert committee, which meant he now had a voice in some related important matters.

This was what Feng Yi had told the old man: experts at this level received protection from the United Guarantee Bureau, which would investigate thoroughly in case of any incident.

Talent was rare, and those with professional talents even rarer.

The second matter was about the opening of the new pavilion at the Yang City Natural History Museum on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month.

With a tight schedule, Director He had arranged the certificate award ceremony for the same day as the museum event, after which he would have to leave.

After the call with Director He, Feng Yi looked out the car window at the scenery, opened his phone to make a search, then said to Jia, "Let’s go have a meal first."

One of Bai Lu’s family restaurants was nearby, and Feng Yi asked Jia to drive there.

Before getting out of the car, Feng Yi was going to put on his sunglasses as he had gained some fame online and getting recognized would be a hassle, something he was not in the mood for today.

But as he was about to put on the sunglasses, he remembered something and took them off. Inside the case was also a newly prescribed pair of clear glasses, which he decided to wear instead.

Sunglasses were too conspicuous and likely to get him recognized; plus, wearing sunglasses while dining out seemed counterproductive.

His outfit today was different from usual and didn’t match the many photos leaked online; he looked more like a business professional and wouldn’t be immediately associated with the internet celebrity "Brother Se" or "Python King".

It was not the peak dining hour, but there was still a wait; the business at each of Bai Lu’s restaurants was always good.

They hadn’t made a reservation and didn’t have a private room, but there weren’t many people waiting, so the wait wouldn’t be too long.

Among those waiting, Feng Yi spotted a familiar face.

"Tang Kui?"

The one Mo Xiaoguang and Bai Lu had once invited out for fishing, who had a snake farm where Feng Yi had taken two local chickens. Those chickens had ultimately been poisoned by Feng Yi.

Feng Yi had consulted Tang Kui’s snake farm when purchasing a snake venom drying machine.

Tang Kui had been on his phone when he heard someone call his name. He looked up, a mix of confusion, excitement, and uncertainty in his eyes.

"Feng... Yi?"

He said the last syllable silently.

Tang Kui knew that Feng Yi was a recent online sensation, but he didn’t outright shout it.

But he didn’t immediately recognize Feng Yi in his attire today. If Feng Yi hadn’t called out to him, he wouldn’t have dared to confirm it. Looking too formal and businesslike, as if he had just finished a deal or attended an important meeting, his appearance was different from his usual style and certainly not like his online persona.

"Alone?" Feng Yi asked.

"Ah," Tang Kui replied affirmatively.

"Then let’s sit together, the four of us."

"Sure!" Tang Kui was pleased too.

Joining tables was just right; eating alone was boring, and bumping into Feng Yi would give him someone to talk to!

Tang Kui was in town for some business and visiting a few partners. It was nearing mealtime, and he didn’t want to impose on anyone’s hospitality, especially since they might have guests. Passing by the area, he saw Bai Lu’s restaurant and decided to come in, never expecting to run into Feng Yi.

Tang Kui thought to himself: What great luck today!

After all, the man before him was not just an online celebrity; he was a certified expert!

They were soon seated at a four-person table, a pot of tea was brought by the waiter, and Ding poured a cup for everyone.

After ordering, Feng Yi and Tang Kui started discussing the snake farm, with Ding and Jia not interrupting them.

Though it wasn’t a private room, decorative partitions were around, and with everyone else either engrossed in their meals or conversations, no one paid special attention to them, and a regular volume of chat wouldn’t attract notice.

"Bai Lu is not here today; he’s busy at another branch." Tang Kui had messaged Bai Lu while waiting and knew what Bai Lu was up to.

"Brother Yi, were you out on business just now?" Tang Kui asked casually.

"Yeah, sort of," Feng Yi replied.

"You’ve got the look of a business elite; I almost didn’t recognize you, heh heh."

Tang Kui didn’t pry into why Feng Yi was dressed so formally but said, "I’ve been following the Florida python hunting event, but after you dropped out, I lost interest."

He really wanted to hear Feng Yi describe his experience hunting the giant python, but the setting wasn’t right for such stories.

"We can make a dinner plan later, see if we can book a private room at one of Bai Lu’s branches, to talk properly. Or just go straight to my snake farm. It’s in a secluded place, no outsiders, we can speak freely, maybe throw in a barbecue or something..."

"That works; Bai Lu probably won’t have time until after the fifteenth of the first lunar month. His business is booming, so he might not be able to spare much time."
