Closer to Revealing My True Self -
Chapter 155 - 127 Tail_1
Chapter 155: Chapter 127 Tail_1
Bai Lu was astonished by the changes in these koi fish. They hadn’t suddenly gotten bigger; their body length was the same, but there was a slight tendency to grow horizontally.
Seeing this, Bai Lu became worried and immediately went looking for Feng Yi.
"Brother Yi, did you buy some fake fish feed? The kind with hormones?"
Bing, who was sipping on the durian kelp mung bean soup that Feng Yi had shared with him, trying to identify the other ingredients and their proportions, was displeased upon hearing Bai Lu’s remark.
"The feed for the koi in the landscape pond is all personally mixed by me! It absolutely contains no harmful hormones!"
Bai Lu hadn’t expected the fish feed to be actually prepared by a chef! It was indeed a bit awkward to critique someone’s work to their face without sufficient evidence.
Feng Yi had also noticed the koi fish’s changes over the past few days. Additionally, whenever he went to walk the fish, the butler always stood nearby, watching him with a gaze filled with both sentiment and helplessness.
At first, he didn’t understand, assuming that the butler’s expression was solely in response to the fish-walking. After two days, seeing the slight horizontal growth trend in the fish, he understood.
Probably, when he practiced controlling his energy, active factors created alongside the dissipated energy were influencing the growth pattern of the koi fish.
While Bai Lu might be unskilled in other areas, he paid extra attention to anything edible. Extremely picky with his food, he could differentiate the level of fat in fish from cooking them frequently.
Koi fish weren’t within his edible range, but he had trained his eyesight to spot differences nonetheless.
Feng Yi didn’t expect Bai Lu to spot the weight changes in the fish at a glance.
In just two days’ time, without close attention, it was unlikely that anyone would notice such subtle changes. If Lu Yue had been here, he definitely wouldn’t have spotted them.
"It’s not a feed issue. They might have just adapted to the place. They’re eating more, feeling more relaxed, and probably like the environment here, so they’ve gotten fatter," said Feng Yi, keeping a straight face while spouting nonsense.
However, Bai Lu actually believed it!
That just proved his previous thoughts were right!
This place had great feng shui; even the koi fish raised here were getting fat!
It’s no wonder this neighborhood was a sensation across the country back in the day!
"Brother Yi, are you really giving away these koi fish?"
"Yes. Pick whichever ones you like and scoop them out."
Bai Lu scooped out eight fish, handling them with care as he transferred them into an aquarium; the water in it was also scooped from the pond.
Before leaving, Bai Lu sent a few invitation codes to Feng Yi; tapping into them would register an electronic membership on his phone, and he could get discounts at certain shops. Those shops were part of several well-known restaurant brands owned by Bai Lu’s family, ranging from business-oriented venues to boutique cafes, including fast-food styles.
Bai Lu also let Feng Yi in on upcoming new lines across their family’s brands, suggesting that Feng Yi should try them out if interested.
Being from out of town, one might not be accustomed to the new styles, but Feng Yi, who had grown up in Yang City and lived there for 18 years, would most likely accept the majority of them.
Once Bai Lu left, Feng Yi, noticing that the koi fish had started to grow horizontally, decided not to practice so frequently at the koi pond.
Moreover, over the two days, he had become much more proficient in controlling energy. Practicing alone in his room and walking the fish every other day or every few days meant their changes would be less noticeable.
Perhaps due to a better mastery of energy control and a more acute sense of subtle energy fluctuations, that night, as the familiar wave of drowsiness hit him, Feng Yi also realized that the dormant energy within his body was waking up, with his cells starting their nocturnal communication.
Feng Yi really wanted to see what changes were happening to his body, but he was too sleepy!
His brain seemed to be constantly urging him to sleep.
Feng Yi thought there was no rush. There was no need to resist the fatigue and keep an eye on his legs against his body’s instincts. Although the energy was awakening, his legs hadn’t started to change yet.
So, Feng Yi slept.
In his dream, the familiar snake shadow was still circling, chasing after its tail. Now, not only could it touch the tip of its tail but also bite a little bit of it.
Suddenly, there was an exciting feeling.
After chasing for so long, he finally caught it!
Maybe in a little while, it would be able to bite off and hold onto a larger piece of its tail!
But...
Why did it want to bite its tail?
Wasn’t that its own tail?
But biting the tail was still so exhilarating!!
When Feng Yi awoke the next morning, the corners of his mouth were still turned upwards, the excitement lingering even after waking from the dream.
As his consciousness gradually cleared, the sensations and visions from the dream quickly faded.
There seemed to be something pressing under his chin.
The cool, hard touch felt strange.
It was as if he had used his toes to touch his chin.
Feng Yi: "..."
He opened his eyes.
Scales in a neat array filled his vision.
The little pointed tip resting under his chin even wobbled a bit.
Feng Yi: "!!!"
With a sudden movement, he flipped backward to avoid.
Due to the overly intense emotions at that moment, the evasive action was too fierce, and Feng Yi rolled off the bed after tumbling a few times.
Thump!
Feng Yi propped himself up on the floor with his hands.
His nose was only a few centimeters from the floor, and he could see the fibers of the carpet clearly.
Luckily he reacted quickly, otherwise he would have hit his face directly on the floor.
A wave of dizziness, like low blood sugar, suddenly came over him but quickly passed.
When Feng Yi turned his head again, his legs were hanging over the edge of the bed.
Hastily putting on his clothes, Feng Yi rushed downstairs wearing his slippers.
He rushed so quickly that he almost fell over.
He felt that his feet weren’t as reliable today; he wasn’t running as steadily as before!
Downstairs.
Bing heard the noise and poked his head out, about to ask Feng Yi if he wanted breakfast, but then he saw Feng Yi make a gesture.
Understood. Just like that day, there was something important to discuss with the housekeeper, so breakfast would be delayed.
Bing went back into the kitchen.
Next to the dining table, the housekeeper had just set up a tablet.
"Housekeeper!"
Feng Yi rushed over.
Seeing Feng Yi’s excited reaction, the housekeeper seemed to think of something, a trace of light flickered in his eyes, but his face remained as calm and elegant as always.
"It came out!" Feng Yi said.
This was the first time he saw it when he was fully conscious!
Upon hearing this, the housekeeper’s expression broke, his eyes visibly kinder and his gaze brighter, "It?"
Feng Yi lowered his voice, "Tail!"
"Oh~~~"
The housekeeper’s smile widened, his tone gentle and soft, "Then what happened?"
"Then I got dizzy, and it changed back," Feng Yi said, pointing to his own legs.
Housekeeper: "...Oh."
Although his tone was slightly somber, his face was mostly pleased.
"This means you’ve made another step forward; it will appear more frequently when you’re fully conscious from now on."
Feng Yi: "..."
Waking up to see your own tail first thing in the morning can be a bit startling.
"What color was it?" asked the housekeeper.
"Sort of blue, sort of green, and a bit of gray... that indescribable kind of color!"
Feng Yi gave careful thought to that scene he’d witnessed, too shocked at the time to remember the details clearly, offering only a vague description.
"That should be primal green. It’s a color close to that of the original natural environment, acting as camouflage, making it hard to be spotted in its native habitat," the housekeeper explained.
Then, the housekeeper asked another question, "Do you feel insecure?"
Feng Yi: "Hmm?"
"I mean, you still don’t quite feel settled, not fully adapted to your current living environment?"
"Uh..." Feng Yi thought for a moment, "A bit."
He hadn’t been here long; how could he have truly adapted so quickly? Although he liked the design of this place and slept comfortably in his bedroom without insomnia, it didn’t mean he was completely at ease here, he still had his guard up around his surroundings!
The housekeeper pondered.
"And the pattern?"
"I didn’t notice; it didn’t seem very distinct."
"Hmm, no matter, it’ll become clear after a few more moltings," the housekeeper said.
Feng Yi: "?"
The housekeeper continued, "Once you’ve adapted, the color might change as well."
Feng Yi: "???"
It... would change color too?
