Chapter 153: Chapter 125 Walk the Fish_1
Feng Yi knew his method of artifact identification was different from others, and the reaction of those who saw it for the first time was always the same.
It was okay if they didn’t believe it at first, but once they did, they’d better not renege on the deal.
That huge laboratory on the second basement level still needed more equipment!
Feng Yi’s dream of a medical laboratory was still ongoing.
He had been focused on work mode earlier while feeling the jade serpentine chain, not distracted by anything else. Now that the official business was over, as he looked at the serpentine chain in the transparent box, his gaze followed each segment of snake bone, forming a blurry serpentine diagram in his mind. It wasn’t complete, but he had a general idea.
His brain was truly powerful when it came to analyzing and identifying!
The tail bone of the serpentine chain wasn’t complete, and the bones that were unsuitable to be made into a chain were not strung on it. However, Feng Yi still focused on the several segments of bone near the snake’s tail.
Bai Youwei snapped back to his senses, took out his phone and shook it, then pointed at the jade stones that were finally arranged in order on the table, signaling to Feng Yi, "Can I, take a photo?"
Feng Yi stood up to give space, "Please, go ahead."
Bai Youwei didn’t care about appearances anymore. He squatted down to get the right angle, holding the phone with one hand while using the other, when necessary, to block the light, so the reflection on the jade stones wasn’t too strong and he could capture the markings on them clearly.
Bai Jing downed the water in his teacup in two gulps. Usually someone who savored tea delicately, he now didn’t mind such things, put down the cup, and took out his phone to take photos of the jade stones along with Bai Youwei.
The two of them worked meticulously, using their phones to record the sequence of jade stones arranged by Feng Yi, ensuring that the markings on the stones were clear and the order was fully documented. These acted as an important decryption password, and each President Bai took several videos and high-definition photos.
Once they finished taking photos, the two were eager to leave and validate the accuracy of these final "passwords."
Bai Youwei transferred a portion of the payment to Feng Yi first, "As per our agreement, the final payment will be transferred into your account immediately once we’ve confirmed everything."
After saying that, Bai Youwei carefully strung the jade stones in order and wore them close to his body.
The transparent box that had held the serpentine chain was also put back into the safe, carried by Bai Jing.
Feng Yi saw them out."
Noticing people coming out, Bai Lu, who had been keeping an eye on the area, hurried over, wanting to ask if his father and brother were dealing with something urgent. But before he could open his mouth, his father shut him down, "We’ll talk when we get back."
Bai Lu glanced at his father and his brother, then looked at the courtyard here before turning to ask Feng Yi, "Brother Yi, are the koi in your pond for sale?"
"You want them?" Feng Yi asked.
"... Yeah."
"Not for sale. If you want them, just scoop them up yourself; there’s a basin and a net over there."
"A basin... a basin?" Bai Lu stuttered.
Your Feng Shui koi are given away by the basin?
"Pick the ones you like and scoop them yourself." Feng Yi said nonchalantly.
Having just earned quite a bit from Bai’s father, he didn’t mind even if all the koi were scooped away. He could always go to another flower and bird market and get a new batch to replenish them.
Bai Lu stood there as if stupefied.
Lu Yue snickered to the side. He had said it before; those koi aren’t that mystical, but Bai Lu just wouldn’t believe it! Koi that were only ten yuan each and that small—what’s there to even see? Where’s this idea of getting a bargain?
Bai Lu felt his beliefs were being challenged and after weighing his options, he didn’t go over to scoop the fish.
"Brother Yi, could I reserve them for now? I have something to do today and need to leave, can I come back next time to scoop them up?" Bai Lu asked.
"Sure."
"Hey! Thanks, Brother Yi!"
After thanking him, Bai Lu left with his father and older brother. Those two busy individuals taking the time to come here surely meant something important was up! Could they be going bankrupt? Wasn’t it said recently that their business was doing well?
With a heavy heart, Bai Lu left, and Lu Yue didn’t linger either as he had several social engagements to attend and networks to expand. He had already stayed long enough. After a short chat with Feng Yi, he took his leave, his purpose for the visit fulfilled.
Before leaving, Lu Yue took another glance at the koi pond.
"You like this too? If you do, scoop some to take with you," Feng Yi said.
"No thanks. I flew in to Yang City by plane and I’ll be flying back in a few days, so it’s not convenient to carry them," Lu Yue waved his hand.
He wasn’t interested in these small koi that didn’t enhance his status. If he really liked them, he would just pick a shop and buy a few, or have someone bring him a few premium ones directly. Why bother scooping these ten yuan fish here?
Once all the visitors had left, Feng Yi walked over to the koi pond and squatted down to watch the fish in the pond.
Seeing the tails of the koi fish swimming, Feng Yi’s mind still echoed with the snake bones he had seen earlier.
When the tails come out, the bones must change too.
He wondered what they would look like. The medical laboratory was empty without equipment; he couldn’t take X-rays.
If one’s legs turned into a tail, would one swim horizontally or vertically in the water? Would the tail move side to side or up and down?
What would one’s weight be at that time?
Would one float up or sink to the bottom?
Feng Yi extended his hand into the water.
Some fish swam over, thinking they were being fed. Others sensed the movement and, startled, swam away. There were also fish that continued to swim aimlessly, as if nothing had happened.
Watching the fish in the water, Feng Yi’s pupils suddenly constricted, and his eyes seemed to lose all warmth. The energy that he usually kept contained began to emanate from his body.
Cold, dangerous, the presence of a predator was as if a merciless monster lay in wait, ready to strike.
In the house, inside the kitchen.
Bing, who was chopping ribs with a cleaver, suddenly felt a chill breeze sweep across his back, sending a shiver down his spine.
He turned the blade in his hand to a defensive position.
After waiting in that stance for a bit and feeling that something was off, he peered towards the dining area.
The butler was wiping some glasses and, out of the corner of his eye, noticed Bing peeking around. He spoke in an unhurried voice, "Don’t panic, he’s just playing with the fish."
"Oh."
Bing responded and went back to the kitchen to continue cooking.
Noticing the continuous alerts for new messages on his phone, Bing opened it and saw that it was from their private chat group made up of the four of them, discussing what the sudden chill they had just experienced was all about.
Since the boss had not issued a call for help or any other orders, and the chill had quickly dissipated, they continued with their tasks without coming over immediately but still wished to understand what had happened.
When the incident occurred, Jia was washing a car, Yi was monitoring stocks, and Ding was vacuuming for cleaning. Only Bing was closest to the butler and Feng Yi.
Bing replied in their group chat, "The butler said the boss was just playing with fish by the koi pond, no need to panic, let’s all disperse."
Hearing that this was the cause, the four stopped the discussion and resumed their tasks.
The boss was merely playing with fish; indeed, no need for panic.
However, to think such a commotion could arise just from playing with fish, that’s our boss for you!
By the koi pond.
Feng Yi could feel the dormant energies within his body, hidden in his veins flowing with his blood; hidden in the cells of his body, they functioned when he mimicked forms.
But at night, these hidden, slumbering energies would awaken.
His body would undergo subtle changes reliant on those energies. Leg bones would morph into caudal vertebrae, muscles would reshape, and scales would cover sweat glands and pores... With the lower half of his body completely transformed!
What would it be like when the energies awakened?
He didn’t need all the energies in his body to awaken now, just those in his hands. He wanted to practice controlling these energies.
If he could control them more skillfully, he would handle transformations better as well.
When the energies awakened...
Feng Yi looked into the water.
His hand submerged in the water emitted a shimmering light, but under Feng Yi’s deliberate control, not much energy awoke, and consequently, the emitted light wasn’t bright, and now during broad daylight with the sun shining brightly, it was hardly noticeable.
However, through Feng Yi’s extraordinary vision, he could see something like white mist forming around his hand submersed in the water. This mist closely resembled the white mist captured on night-vision cameras.
These white mists, according to the butler, were the active factors that formed as energy leaked away.
In the pond, the koi fish that had initially fled now swarmed back as if enticed by delicious food, frantically flapping their tails, gravitating towards Feng Yi’s hand in the water.
Seeing this, Feng Yi suppressed the active energies, allowing part of the awakened energy to return to slumber, leaving only a small portion slightly active.
The fish weren’t as frenzied as before but were still more excited than usual, pecking at Feng Yi’s hand bite after bite.
Feng Yi attempted to control the leaking of energy further. As the leak reduced, so did the production of active factors. He hoped that even when the energies inside his body were active, they wouldn’t escape, so he wouldn’t have to worry about being detected by surrounding creatures and causing abnormal situations. For example, swans faking injuries or eagles losing their wits.
As Feng Yi controlled it, the leaking energy from his hand reduced, weakening its attraction to the fish, with the school of fish gradually dispersing around the edges.
The subtle changes might have had a limited impact, imperceptible to others and not very obvious to Feng Yi himself, but the fish in the water were extremely sensitive to these fluctuations of energy.
Feng Yi sought more precision in control!
So, with each of Feng Yi’s attempts—
The koi in the pond would throng towards him with a splash, then disperse.
Splash, they came again, only to scatter once more.
Ding, taking a break from handling the cleaning machines, glanced over and couldn’t make out much, but he saw Feng Yi squatting by the pond, moving a hand back and forth in the water, with the koi following his hand as it moved, scattering, then grouping again, and scattering once more.
"Is he, walking the fish?"
Ding took out his phone and messaged Bing:
[With the boss walking the fish like this, won’t the fish have indigestion?]
