Chapter 149: Chapter 122 Little Tail_1

Morning crankiness?

Feng Yi didn’t believe it.

I couldn’t possibly have that kind of morning crankiness!

Even if I did, it couldn’t possibly be delayed for so long!!

Can it still be called morning crankiness after such a long time? Definitely not!

Feng Yi suspected the butler was pulling his leg.

"No need to worry, it’s normal," the butler said with a compassionate gaze, "just ensure you get enough sleep."

Initially, Feng Yi wanted to object, but the latter part of the statement seemed somewhat reasonable.

He hadn’t experienced these abnormal emotional fluctuations before, and although he did talk about some unhappy things with Feng Chi today, it shouldn’t have affected him like this.

After being away from home for six years, talking about the past didn’t stir him as much anymore. Any worry or trouble he might face, he was already prepared for mentally, with strategies to cope. So indeed, it was a sudden and unusual fluctuation.

If these abnormal fluctuations were just due to a lack of sleep, there really wasn’t too much reason for concern.

He had woken up early today to meet Feng Chi at the secret base, losing more than an hour of sleep than usual.

However, whether the butler’s reasoning was right or wrong was yet to be confirmed.

To verify the butler’s explanation, Feng Yi went to bed early that day. While another villa in the neighborhood was still bustling with a variety show being filmed, his side was already welcoming sleep.

Having gone through significant emotional turmoil during the day, Feng Yi thought he would have a mix of chaotic dreams at night. But once he actually laid down and the familiar sense of drowsiness washed over him, he set everything aside.

No family matters, no old issues visited his dreams that night.

In the dream, a snake shadow continued to chase its tail around in circles.

Only now, compared to before, it could touch the tip of its tail, just a tiny bit away from biting it.

The next day, when it was barely light, Feng Yi woke up groggy and disoriented, unsure if it was because he had been out and about at this time yesterday, but today, even without an alarm clock or anyone calling him, he still woke up.

The closed curtains blocked out the weak daylight from outside.

The room was pitch black.

But for Feng Yi, the darkness wasn’t much of an issue as his vision differed from the average person.

His pupils, normally circular, became erect ellipses, bearing an unusual sharpness and a sense of coldness, although this sharp, cold look was mostly covered by his half-closed eyelids.

Indeed, he was still not accustomed to this round bed—turning over felt like half of his body was about to roll off, and his legs seemed to slip down to the floor from the edge of the bed.

Feng Yi turned over to the other side, pulling his legs back in, adjusting his sleeping posture.

In the limited view obscured by his half-closed eyelids, a huge curving tail shadow swept across his vision as he turned over.

It was as if Feng Yi’s thinking suddenly hit a snag.

The room was silent.

And then.

He fell back to sleep.

An hour later.

The morning light spilled through the gaps in the curtains, casting a faint glow; besides that, the room was still dark.

Consciousness slowly crept back.

The dream was still unclear, no different from the past several nights.

Only...

Feng Yi suddenly sat up, threw off the covers, and looked at his legs.

Yes, legs!

But the hazy memory from just before didn’t feel like a dream.

It definitely wasn’t a dream!

He knew he dreamt every night, but couldn’t remember upon waking up. Yet the scene that had surfaced in his mind was now much clearer upon reflection!

So, was it something that had actually happened?

It could also be a hallucination, his own overthinking and dream interference, but the likelihood of it being a fantasy was smaller.

That swaying shadow...

How come it looked so much like...

Feng Yi hurriedly put on his clothes, donned a robe, and, wearing slippers, dashed off to find the butler.

Perhaps because he went to bed early yesterday, Feng Yi woke up a bit earlier than usual.

Bing was busy in the kitchen, and upon seeing Feng Yi, he asked if he could serve breakfast.

"Not in a hurry, I need to take care of something!"

Feng Yi left a hurried message and rushed to the housekeeper.

While upstairs, he had thought that the housekeeper, being older, might have just gotten out of bed.

But once he went downstairs, he saw that the housekeeper was still impeccably groomed, his hair and attire as meticulous and his demeanor as gracefully composed as ever.

At this moment, the housekeeper was setting up the tablet on the table. He had already flipped through the news and summarized the important and interesting pieces into the personally tailored "Morning Brief."

Since all these tasks were complete, he must have gotten up early.

It seemed that elderly people often wake up at around five or six in the morning, and sleep less at night. Feng Yi had told him several times to sleep a bit more, but the housekeeper had his own convictions.

Feng Yi called the housekeeper into the adjacent drawing room. It was more convenient for talking there.

"Here’s the thing, when I woke up this morning, there was a scene very clear in my mind..."

The housekeeper, though still composed and graceful on the surface, had a distinct look of anticipation in his eyes. The occasional spark of light in his gaze was like the morning sun forcefully pushing aside the blackout curtains, creating a slit of light in the dark space.

However, as Feng Yi continued to speak, that slit of light closed again.

The housekeeper’s eyes returned to their usual subdued and rigid grace.

"Oh."

The housekeeper replied calmly, "So, in fact, you did not see it when you were fully conscious."

"That’s right."

Feng Yi was waiting for him to clear up his confusion, but this bland reaction from the housekeeper seemed to carry a hint of disappointment?

The housekeeper’s eyelids drooped slightly, as if pondering, or as though he was psychologically preparing himself. When he looked up at Feng Yi again, the heaviness in his eyes had faded, replaced by comfort and encouragement.

"Don’t worry. The scene you saw when your consciousness was blurry is very likely real; it’s just that you’re currently unable to maintain that kind of change.

"However, as you continue to develop, the duration will get longer and longer! Maybe one day you’ll open your eyes, and when you’re fully awake, the little tail will be right there in front of you!"

Feng Yi recalled the shadow that had passed through his field of vision while he was half-asleep.

You call that a, little, tail?!

Do you have some kind of perception disorder with the word "small"?!

With an expectant look, the housekeeper continued, "If you’ve already seen it in a semi-conscious state, then it won’t be long before it appears during the day!"

The housekeeper was also thinking about having a chat with Bing soon, to see if he needed to adjust the proportions of food in Feng Yi’s meals, and if Feng Yi’s diet contained enough micronutrients needed for development? Adjustments, if necessary, should be made quickly to avoid impacting growth.

Feng Yi was unaware of the housekeeper’s thoughts. Hearing what the housekeeper said, he felt more at ease.

That makes sense!

And he had long been psychologically prepared.

It’s just two legs turning into a tail! No big deal!

Although it still felt a bit awkward, he was no longer that agitated.

With this in mind, Feng Yi asked the housekeeper for confirmation, "This change involves both legs merging into one tail, right? Not turning into separate ones?"

While speaking, Feng Yi gestured with both hands, to help the housekeeper understand better.

The housekeeper’s expression seemed to stiffen for a moment, before he replied lightly, "Of course."

Then, as if to emphasize his point, the housekeeper spoke with a slightly firmer tone, "One tail!"

Feng Yi breathed a sigh of relief, "That’s good to hear."

Soon after, Feng Yi asked again, "So, if my two legs become one tail, it won’t cause any issues with walking, right?"

The housekeeper looked visibly puzzled for a moment before responding cautiously, "Different forms have different ways of locomotion. This house has been designed based on such transformation, and so is the Gravel Road outside."

Feng Yi wanted to ask about something else, but he didn’t continue.

He actually wanted to ask the housekeeper if it would be difficult to walk when the tail comes out. Could he walk at all?

Maybe it should be called... crawling?

What if he’s not accustomed to it and can’t move? How should he cope?

But then Feng Yi reconsidered, figuring that instinct was fairly reliable.

After the mode switch, instinct should be able to handle it!
