Chapter 115: Chapter 102 Awesome_1

A thousand-mile bike ride, and now you tell me I went in the wrong direction?!

Feng Yi took a deep breath.

Another deep breath.

Feng Yi reflected.

On this trip, he had always found a place to stay or checked into a motel before nightfall, ate his fill, then slept to recover his stamina, ready to continue biking at dawn.

Who would’ve thought!

The activation depended on the stars at night?!

At least now he knew how to use the Compass.

Perhaps some navigational cells in his body had finally activated, no longer listless and lethargic. The sound they emitted was no longer faint, no longer overwhelmed by other sensory information.

Based on what Huo Jin had said, his Compass should be biased towards celestial navigation, right?

The trip was worth it just for the stars alone; the clearer the stars, the more accurate the Compass navigation became with each recorded constellation!

The moment the Compass was calibrated, instinct came online!

Albeit a bit late.

But now wasn’t the time for complaints.

Feng Yi opened the map on his phone, and with precise guidance from the Compass, the direction of his instincts became clear. Checking the map, Feng Yi realized.

He really had gone the wrong way.

If he had simply headed north from Rong City, he would’ve reached his destination before long.

Having traveled too far west, he had no plans to turn back.

Now that he knew his destination, planning a route became simple; he could choose a more efficient method rather than endure dust, rain, and rugged mountains.

Even though he didn’t know why his instincts told him to go there, Huo Jin had said those cells related to environmental recognition and route planning were extremely accurate once they kicked in. Should he not trust them, and instead trust a butler who couldn’t even find the answer in his notes?

Trusting them was also trusting himself!

One must rely on oneself!

Feng Yi stood by the lakeside, planning his new route.

Inside the tent, Huo Jin, who had returned from taking a second photo, was chatting with his companions on their mobile phones.

Some were resting inside the tent, so it wasn’t a good place to talk, but they were too restless to stay quiet, so they typed away in the chat group instead.

"Is he still out there?"

"He was when I checked just now, still lingering there, looks like he’s contemplating some philosophy of life. I didn’t have the heart to disturb him."

"Isn’t he cold?"

"I asked him earlier, he said he wasn’t cold. Standing there now, he seems oblivious to the temperature, like some kind of oddball."

"Last time I saw someone like this, it was my junior. He had just had his heart broken and sat on a bench in a corner of the campus all night. The autumn wind was biting, utterly forlorn... Sigh, I feel like that Feng kid is also going through some emotional crisis."

"Let’s not disturb him then, let him meditate on his philosophy. An adult can get over it quickly once they understand."

"What if he doesn’t come to understand?"

"Then it might be a bit dangerous."

"If he can’t figure it out, he’s not going to jump in the lake, is he?"

"He shouldn’t, right?"

In the wee hours, they went out to take another photo, and Feng Yi was still standing there, gazing at the starry sky.

They went back to the tent to continue sleeping, and when they woke up in the morning, they found Feng Yi’s bed still empty, just as it had been the day before.

Huo Jin felt a surge of panic, jumped out of bed, and went looking. He didn’t find Feng Yi, but Feng Yi’s bike was still there.

"He didn’t really sneak off to jump in the lake, did he?"

Just as he had that thought, he saw Feng Yi approaching with a bag of hot food.

Seeing Feng Yi was alright, Huo Jin relaxed.

Feng Yi entered the tent and shared the food he was carrying with them.

After thanking him, Huo Jin asked, "Aren’t you going to eat? Didn’t you come in to sleep last night?"

Feng Yi replied, "I’ve already eaten. Last night I was pondering some issues by the lake."

Huo Jin looked at him, "You’ve been up all night in the cold wind and still so energetic! I’m impressed!"

Feng Yi smiled, "I’m pretty resistant to the cold."

Knowing that Huo Jin traveled extensively, Feng Yi consulted him and formulated his next route. He decided not to cycle any more.

He also did not plan to travel by train or plane; he’d only just learned how to use the Compass and needed to familiarize himself with it. Traveling by car was better; he could confirm the way forward and get used to the Compass while on the road.

Having decided to travel by car, he would certainly ask those who frequently traveled in the area to determine which route was better.

"You want to go to Ji City? In that case, you could wait another day. There’s a research team nearby; I was chatting with someone from there last night. They might leave tomorrow. Although they’re not going to Ji City, they could give you a ride. They have several cars in their team, and not all of them are researchers, some are hobbyists, so it’s more flexible," Huo Jin suggested.

Listening to this, Feng Yi felt it could work. It was just waiting one more day; he could have them give him a lift, and he could pay for the ride.

Knowing what Feng Yi meant, Huo Jin sent a message to the person he knew in the other team.

He received a reply shortly after.

Huo Jin looked at the responses and frowned slightly.

Seeing this, Feng Yi said, "It’s okay if it’s not convenient for them, I can find someone else. There are plenty of vehicles around here."

"It’s not that, they have a strict requirement: you must have over 200 points to join the team. Do you know about the points system? It’s the one tied to the sixth database."

"I have that."

"It’s quite a hassle for most people... You do? You mean the globally-used points that can’t be faked, bound directly to the sixth database?"

"I really do." Feng Yi pulled up his electronic ID, which displayed an emblem and a number.

Huo Jin was slightly incredulous at Feng Yi’s 1000+ points. If he hadn’t seen Feng Yi access the official platform and pull up his electronic ID himself, he would have thought that Feng Yi had found some fake ID app!
