Chapter 834: Chapter 834: Suspect of the Crime
Ye Qiu drove towards the City Police Bureau, guessing that Zhao Ruxue might not have eaten breakfast yet. After arriving at the parking lot of the City Police Bureau, he went to the entrance and brought two bottles of milk inside for Zhao Ruxue.
When he arrived at Zhao Ruxue’s office, he noticed that this office was not solely hers; other officers were also working inside. Those officers merely glanced up at Ye Qiu before continuing with their busy work.
Last night, Zhao Ruxue had spent the entire night at the bar reviewing surveillance footage. Unexpectedly, at around four or five in the morning, another jewelry store burglary occurred, prompting her to be called back to the City Police Bureau for an emergency meeting.
This shocked everyone, including the police officers. No one could believe that a major jewelry theft had just happened the night before, only for another similar crime to occur in the early morning hours.
This was beyond everyone’s expectations, further proving that the burglary gang was highly experienced.
Having stayed awake all night, Zhao Ruxue was now utterly exhausted, and dark circles were nearly forming under her eyes. She tried to keep herself alert but simply couldn’t summon any energy.
When Ye Qiu entered, he saw Zhao Ruxue practically slumped on the desk.
Working like this was definitely not sustainable.
Ye Qiu had a way to re-energize Zhao Ruxue, but he first wanted her to go home and get some proper rest.
"You’re here so early?"
asked Zhao Ruxue.
Ye Qiu had accompanied her till past 4 a.m. the previous night, yet he appeared so full of vitality now.
"You’re still working?"
"The case still needs investigating."
"Go home and rest first. How can you work without any energy?"
Ye Qiu said.
He couldn’t care less about the police bureau’s rules. After all, Zhao Ruxue wasn’t a machine. She had worked hard all night—was she really supposed to continue working during the day?
As Zhao Ruxue sat there intending to persist, Ye Qiu directly pulled her out of the office.
Zhao Ruxue initially didn’t want to leave, but when Ye Qiu grabbed her by the hand, she quickly followed him out.
Once outside and seated in Ye Qiu’s car, he said, "I’ll help you with the investigation."
"Really?"
"This time, I’ll make sure you merit another first-class commendation!"
Although Zhao Ruxue had previously earned a promotion to Battalion Commander in the Criminal Investigation Unit for her contributions, further career advancement would undoubtedly require additional accolades.
When Ye Qiu handed her the two bottles of milk, Zhao Ruxue took them, opened one, and started drinking. For some reason, she suddenly felt that Ye Qiu was being exceptionally kind to her.
But this kindness inexplicably made her uneasy.
Ye Qiu drove towards the Norwegian Forest Bar and arrived to find it closed during the daytime. After all, the previous night’s bartenders, servers, and other staff had only gone home to rest in the morning and would return to work in the evening.
Bars typically operated at night and rested during the day.
Ye Qiu didn’t know if Zhao Rubing was still inside resting. She had downed that bottle of liquor last night before heading off to sleep.
When Ye Qiu called Zhao Rubing, he found out that she was indeed still asleep inside.
Zhao Rubing’s sleep schedule was irregular. Sometimes she rested during the day and worked at the bar at night; other times, she followed a normal nighttime sleep schedule and stayed busy with work during the day.
As the owner, Zhao Rubing was different from the bar’s employees; still, she had responsibilities like managing the inventory of white wine, red wine, and other beverages, as well as handling supplier negotiations.
When Zhao Rubing heard that Ye Qiu and Ruxue were downstairs at the door, she got up to unlock it, yawning, and asked, "Why didn’t I see you two earlier this morning?"
Zhao Rubing almost suspected her sister and Ye Qiu had gone off to get a hotel room together, but she knew her sister’s personality and was certain that she wouldn’t do something like that.
"There was another jewelry theft case last night. I went back to the City Police Bureau at four or five this morning to attend a meeting," said Zhao Ruxue.
"No wonder. I thought you two had vanished somewhere."
After the two entered and Zhao Rubing locked the door behind them, the milk Zhao Ruxue had drunk made her feel much better, so she went into Zhao Rubing’s small private room to rest.
Meanwhile, Ye Qiu turned on the computer from the previous night to review the surveillance footage Zhao Ruxue had brought back. By analyzing the past few days’ footage, he hoped to identify a suspicious suspect.
He scanned through the footage piece by piece, incredibly quickly yet without missing any details. Having finished the first store, then the second, by the time he reached the third store, he mentally recalled the surveillance from the previous two jewelry stores.
Soon, Ye Qiu spotted a man wearing a hat, stocky in build, passing near the camera.
This man looked very suspicious!
Ye Qiu immediately paused the video, zoomed in on the camera, and used his phone to capture an image.
This was the first suspicious suspect he had identified. Furthermore, the footage revealed that the suspect had been entering and leaving the jewelry store and appeared to have purchased some jewelry there.
After watching, Ye Qiu continued analyzing the footage from the fourth and fifth jewelry stores. He noticed that the same man had appeared in each location, browsing and leaving with purchased jewelry.
Having completed one round of reviewing all the surveillance footage, Ye Qiu replayed it carefully and confirmed once again that the suspicious individual was the stocky man wearing a hat.
However, the man’s face was not very clear in the footage.
After analyzing everything and turning off the computer, Ye Qiu had spent less than two hours. In comparison, Zhao Ruxue had spent seven or eight hours last night and hadn’t even covered a third of it.
The difference lay in Ye Qiu’s exceptional ability—he could read and process information at lightning speed without making mistakes.
After isolating the suspicious man’s photo, Ye Qiu planned to refine it further for clarity. He intended to use the internet to determine whether he could uncover any useful information about the man.
For now, however, he wanted to send the image to Zhao Ruxue to see if the police could identify the suspect using the photo. If that didn’t work, he would resort to hacking to extract the information.
When Ye Qiu returned from the desk and sat on the sofa, he saw that Zhao Rubing had already freshened up and come over.
"What were you just doing?"
"Helping Ruxue review the surveillance footage to identify the suspect," Ye Qiu replied.
Zhao Rubing sat beside him and said, "Always helping my sister, huh?"
"If I don’t help her, who will?"
"What about me?"
"What do you need help with?"
Zhao Rubing, much more carefree than her sister, simply ran the bar, which was doing well financially, ensuring her life was free of worries.
"I’ll let you know when the time comes. For now, it’s almost lunchtime. Want to grab lunch?"
Ye Qiu hadn’t realized how quickly time had passed. Before he knew it, it was already past eleven in the morning.
