Chapter 802: Chapter 0803: Faking Illness to Avoid Military Training

Ye Qiu, Luo Yang, and Zhou Shaohui headed toward Cafeteria No. 1. When they arrived, Ye Qiu handed his meal card to Zhou Shaohui and the others, instructing them to go get some dishes.

The three quickly took Ye Qiu’s meal card and went off.

Ye Qiu was now treating the three as if they were his lackeys—after all, who told these three guys to be so reckless and try teaming up with Ning Yun to bully him!

After Zhou Shaohui and the other two left, Li Shen called Ye Qiu, and Ye Qiu told him his location.

When Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming arrived, the two joined them on the side. Having sat around all morning out of boredom, they were naturally dreading the army training set to begin in the afternoon.

They remembered that Ye Qiu had once mentioned that dodging military training could be pretty easy.

"Brother Qiu, military training starts this afternoon. What should we do?"

"Eat first!"

When Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming went to get food, Zhou Shaohui and the other two returned with some meat dishes and handed Ye Qiu’s meal card back.

Ye Qiu motioned for Luo Yang to sit and started eating.

After Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming had also finished eating, Ye Qiu didn’t bother saying much and simply left Cafeteria No. 1, heading outside.

Once outside, Ye Qiu asked, "Do you seriously want to skip army training?"

"Yes."

Zhu Zhiming replied.

"How about you guys?"

Ye Qiu turned to ask Zhou Shaohui and the other two.

"We don’t want to do military training either."

It was obvious these three couldn’t handle hardship, and they didn’t want to take part in the training.

"Alright."

Ye Qiu said.

Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming had no idea what Ye Qiu’s plan was, and Zhou Shaohui and the other two were equally puzzled.

But if Ye Qiu said it was fine, then it had to be fine.

As for Luo Yang, he only knew Ye Qiu’s medical skills were exceptional; beyond that, he wasn’t sure how Ye Qiu planned to help them skip military training.

"Luo Yang, don’t you need to avoid it?"

"I don’t need to. I’d rather tan a bit."

Since that was the case, Ye Qiu didn’t bother trying to help Luo Yang avoid the military training.

When they returned to the plaza near Building No. 5 where they had been earlier, Ye Qiu, Luo Yang, and Zhou Shaohui found that other boys and girls were already gathering there.

Especially the girls, who had come prepared with sunscreen—after all, the sunlight in the afternoon was scorching.

Additionally, many brought bottles of mineral water.

By 1:30 PM, once all the students had gathered, Wu Shuang arrived and slowly spoke: "I am your instructor. But this time, things will be pretty relaxed. Besides the standard military training routines, there won’t be excessive penalties."

Ten years ago, if Wu Shuang had been a drill instructor for new university students, things might’ve been different.

But now, he was nothing like those instructors in their early twenties.

Moreover, if it weren’t for Elder Cao’s request, Wu Shuang wouldn’t have agreed to come back as just an ordinary drill instructor.

"Now go collect your uniforms. You have thirty minutes to return to your dorms, suit up, and come back down."

A truck carrying sets of uniforms was parked by the military vehicle, about to distribute clothes for the new students to wear during training.

The sets included uniforms, hats, canteens, belts, and even two pairs of liberation shoes for each individual. However, these were mostly reused from previous sessions of military training.

Even though they were disinfected and cleaned after every session, many students still felt the uniforms had a lingering odor when handed out.

After students were roughly assigned uniforms, hats, canteens, belts, etc., based on their height and build, Ning Yun’s set was temporarily left in Ye Qiu’s dorm room so he could retrieve them later. Everyone else took their gear back to their rooms to change.

"Brother Qiu, didn’t you say you had a way for us to skip military training?"

Zhou Shaohui asked.

"Why are you in such a hurry?"

Ye Qiu replied.

Zhou Shaohui realized he was indeed rushing it.

The three of them decided to tone down their eagerness.

Inside the dorm, Ye Qiu dressed in his military uniform in under five minutes. When he stood in front of the mirror, he genuinely felt the outfit gave him an aura of a soldier—it was undeniably cooler than the cheap clothing he used to wear.

As for Luo Yang, his tall and sturdy frame made the uniform look awkward on him, even though it was the largest size available. He could only wear it as best he could.

Canteens in hand, they headed back to the plaza. As Ye Qiu returned, he noticed the boys trickling back in, while the girls arrived much slower—after all, psychological and physical differences meant they could even be dealing with issues like changing sanitary pads.

Wu Shuang didn’t bother checking his watch. He simply stood there.

Without saying much, he made note of Ye Qiu.

In his military uniform, Ye Qiu looked far more composed and dashing.

About forty-five minutes later, when the girls finally finished dragging themselves over, Wu Shuang asked, "Do you realize how much time you took?"

The tardy girls stayed silent, and Wu Shuang didn’t punish them.

"Now line up from tallest to shortest. Girls in the front, boys in the back."

The students quickly arranged themselves by height, moving to swap positions with anyone shorter than them.

However, Zhou Shaohui and the other two seemed uneasy. They still didn’t want to train and had been banking on Ye Qiu to come up with a strategy to help them avoid it.

But now, they realized there wasn’t any plan in motion.

Ye Qiu wasn’t paying them any attention at all.

In the Independent Institute’s Software Engineering Class 1, Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming also wore their military uniforms and followed their classmates to the designated area.

Just as they’d gotten into line, they suddenly began to feel extremely unwell.

Pain!

It was an intense, agonizing pain.

There was also a strong sense of dizziness—it felt like heat exhaustion. Not long after lining up, nearby classmates noticed something off about them, and as the two collapsed, the instructor shouting commands was startled.

Occasionally, incidents of new students suffering from discomfort or extreme symptoms, even leading to death, occurred during army training. As a result, university military training wasn’t as strict as the kind conducted at military academies—it was more like a superficial routine.

If students showed signs of difficulty or poor health, they could request leave from their instructor or advisor—after all, the students’ lives took precedence.

"Instructor, these two look unwell—probably heat exhaustion!"

"Quick, help them up and move them to the side."

The young instructor was startled and immediately ordered the boys to assist Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming off to the side. The two genuinely felt unwell; this wasn’t an act.

"How are you feeling?"

The young instructor asked.

"Dizzy, nauseous, and in pain."

Li Shen replied.

"This seems like severe heat exhaustion. They need to be sent to the hospital for treatment."
