Chapter 747: Chapter 0748: Gunshots on the Plane [Third Update]

In the past nearly half a month, Cao Ling accompanied Grandfather to a large hospital in Paris, where the medical team performed comprehensive checks on Grandfather’s health and discovered that his body had accumulated a lot of thick phlegm, particularly filling his lungs.

Last time, shortly after they arrived by plane, Grandfather almost died when that clump of thick phlegm got stuck in his throat.

Back in their home country, various major hospitals and the Military Hospital had conducted examinations and treatments for his condition to no avail, so they had no choice but to seek surgical options abroad.

Unexpectedly, after half a month of examinations, the results showed that surgery was feasible, however, the risk was significant. More importantly, it was a problem with Grandfather’s lung function that led to the production of thick phlegm which his body couldn’t expel, causing the accumulation to worsen.

What Cao Ling and Grandfather hadn’t expected was that during their return flight to Jinling, they would so fortuitously run into that young doctor again.

Previously, Ye Qiu had merely wanted to prevent the situation of the elderly man’s health forcing the plane to turn back to Jinling International Airport, which would delay all the passengers. He had voluntarily cleared the blockage in the old man’s throat by removing the thick phlegm.

Throughout the whole incident, Ye Qiu never revealed his name to anyone, and no one knew his identity.

However, the ordinary clothes Ye Qiu was wearing left a very deep impression on Cao Ling and Grandfather, so much so that now, while sitting in first class, they recognized Ye Qiu as soon as they saw him.

Cao Ling looked at Ye Qiu with gratitude and nodded her head.

Ye Qiu did not pay much attention.

He knew that the beautiful woman and the old man must have no ordinary backgrounds, and although the old man was in his sixties and showed signs of age, he still carried an authoritative presence, clearly someone used to being in a position of power.

The old man also nodded at Ye Qiu.

Ye Qiu simply returned the gesture.

Zhou Wenting, having spent many years abroad, did not recognize the identities of the two, but she also felt that they were no ordinary people.

However, she wasn’t concerned about that. What made her envious was the young woman who looked even younger than her by two or three years, yet exuded an aura and beauty that surpassed her own.

When Zhou Wenting noticed that Ye Qiu’s gaze had not gone to the two Caucasian flight attendants but instead to the beautiful woman, she knew that men were all the same; they preferred the young and beautiful.

Her father was like that, and now Ye Qiu too.

But then she noticed that Ye Qiu only gave the young beauty a glance before pulling his gaze away.

"Hey, that beauty greeted you, why didn’t you respond?"

"I don’t know her, why would I respond?"

"I don’t know what you’re thinking."

Zhou Wenting said.

Sometimes, she felt she saw through Ye Qiu, but at other times, she couldn’t understand him at all. She had no idea what was going through his mind, and that was another reason why, aside from his medical skills, she was drawn to him.

By now all the passengers should have boarded, and the airplane began to take off slowly.

The two flight attendants reappeared to brief the passengers in French, English, and Chinese about safety precautions on the plane and what to do in case of danger, such as using a parachute.

Of course, at the moment, there was no need to fasten the seatbelts.

After the two Caucasian flight attendants left, Ye Qiu noticed that on this direct flight to Jinling International Airport, aside from the majority being from Huaxia, there were also some Caucasians and Africans, likely on their way to handle business in Jinling.

After all, Jinling is considered a major metropolis within the country.

Ye Qiu glanced around, retracted his gaze, and continued to drink the beverage in front of him and eat the dessert.

About half an hour later, Ye Qiu suddenly noticed a middle-aged Caucasian man with plenty of sideburns, wearing sunglasses, walking past.

A sense of danger hit Ye Qiu head-on.

It was clear that this Caucasian man emanated a dangerous aura.

Furthermore, Ye Qiu noticed that it wasn’t just him; he also sensed others behind him.

This time, Ye Qiu felt that an incident might occur.

Had he known earlier, he wouldn’t have rushed to fly back to Jinling so soon. It might have been better to have morning tea in Chinatown with Louise before returning.

But Ye Qiu also knew that many things are predestined, and trying to change them was futile.

If something happened, his only responsibility was to protect Zhou Wenting by his side.

"Ye Qiu, what’s wrong?"

Zhou Wenting noticed the change in Ye Qiu’s gaze as he watched the middle-aged Caucasian man and then withdrew his attention; it was clearly different from before.

"It’s nothing. Go ahead and sleep for a bit. I’ll wake you when we arrive in Jinling!"

Zhou Wenting indeed hadn’t had enough sleep, having gotten up so early. She had just finished some dessert and a drink and was feeling quite full.

Now, instead of lying down to rest, Zhou Wenting leaned on Ye Qiu’s shoulder. To outsiders, they looked like a couple.

Ye Qiu did not move away, allowing Zhou Wenting to lean on him and sleep.

Perhaps another two hours passed, and the plane, whether it had left France or was flying over another European country, gave Ye Qiu the vague impression that something was about to happen.

Like domestic flights, international large commercial airplanes are staffed with security officers, primarily for the safety of the passengers on board, ready to respond promptly to any emergencies.

Moreover, to many Europeans and Americans, it seems their lives are more valuable than those of others, which undoubtedly highlights their focus on security.

And just then, Ye Qiu suddenly felt the A380, which had been flying steadily, shudder. It was like the tremble that had woken her upon arrival, startling Zhou Wenting, who had been sound asleep on Ye Qiu’s thighs, along with many other passengers.

"What’s going on?"

Zhou Wenting asked groggily.

"The plane might be in trouble,"

Ye Qiu replied.

Upon hearing this, Zhou Wenting became fully awake. Any trouble with a plane could be serious.

Many advertisements claim that airplanes have the lowest accident rates of any mode of transport, but if an accident does occur, it usually results in a 100% fatality rate. In contrast, on land or sea, there’s still a possibility of survival despite an accident.

However, if a plane crashes or explodes, it inevitably leads to a 100% fatality rate.

"Don’t be afraid, I’m here with you,"

Ye Qiu said.

But Zhou Wenting could no longer sleep.

The first-class cabin, not far from the cockpit, rocked with the same shudder that the passengers felt, and then Ye Qiu and other passengers heard gunshots.

They were indeed gunshots and there were several in succession!

However, aside from Ye Qiu, Cao Ling next to Mr. Cao, and his personal bodyguard, who were beginning to show signs of tension, other passengers were still unsure of the situation.
