Chapter 684: Chapter 0685: Don’t Make the Same Mistake Twice [First Update]

Xiao Mei had already started to become afraid and moved closer to Ye Qiu.

"Doctor Ye, what should we do?"

Xiao Mei asked in a low voice.

"Actually, even if they don’t come to trouble you tonight, they will still come to trouble you tomorrow night."

Hearing Ye Qiu say that, Xiao Mei realized that those ruffians were not going to give up so easily that night.

"Should we call the police?"

"No need."

Ye Qiu still wasn’t planning to call the police; he wanted to teach those ruffians a harsh lesson again.

Ye Qiu pretended not to see those ruffians and continued to eat. The food at this food stall was quite good, and the shrimp and crab congee was also pretty decent.

"Beautiful lady, I didn’t expect to meet you again. We must really be fated!"

Quail Brother laughed.

Only, his face, which had been cut by glass wielded by Ye Qiu, now bore scars that made him look quite ugly and nauseating.

It seemed as though Quail Brother did not see Ye Qiu at all.

That night, although he had been taught a lesson by Ye Qiu, he had not given up. Now he brought his underlings with weapons in tow.

At that moment, the owner of the food stall, a middle-aged man with his upper body bare, came out and said to Quail Brother, "Quail, don’t disturb my customers while they’re eating."

"Boss Da Fei, this is a grudge between this man and woman and me. I didn’t come to your food stall to stir up trouble on purpose."

Obviously, being able to run a food stall meant having some connections with the underworld, otherwise, it would have been impossible to operate peacefully.

This owner saw the young man and woman dining and naturally wouldn’t allow these thugs to cause trouble here.

"My customers are still eating right now."

Boss Da Fei said.

Quail Brother could only say, "Wait until they’ve finished eating then."

Since Boss Da Fei had said so, Quail Brother did not dare to attack Ye Qiu directly.

Ye Qiu kept the same expression but took an extra glance at Boss Da Fei. He noticed the tattoo on his back and thought that he must have been involved with the underworld before, now starting his own business as a food stall owner.

Boss Da Fei, on the other hand, was surprisingly looking at this young man who remained calm while dressed in pajamas and drinking beer. He felt that this young man must be anything but simple.

These kids really didn’t know what was good for them, daring to mess with this young man.

After Boss Da Fei left, Ye Qiu and Xiao Mei continued to sit there and eat. Xiao Mei became even more nervous. For now, those thugs didn’t dare to make trouble because of Boss Da Fei’s presence.

But what about after they finish their late-night snack?

Xiao Mei was still very afraid. She felt that it was better to call the police first and wait for them to handle the situation.

As Xiao Mei was about to call the police with her phone, Ye Qiu held her hand and looked at her, saying, "If the police were of any use, those thugs wouldn’t be here causing trouble now."

Xiao Mei then put her phone away and moved closer to Ye Qiu, asking, "So what do we do now?"

This was already the third time she had asked.

"What is there to fear with me here?"

Ye Qiu encouraged Xiao Mei to eat.

Xiao Mei had already eaten quite a bit, and now encountering those thugs again, she naturally lost her appetite.

While they were seated, Quail Brother and the other thugs were waiting outside. One underling asked, "Boss, do you think that kid won’t dare to come out?"

"What’s there to be afraid of? Boss Da Fei can’t possibly operate twenty-four hours a day. I reckon around two or three in the morning, Boss Da Fei will close up. Then we’ll deal with that kid, take the busty girl back to enjoy ourselves, and later sell her to a bar madam to make some money."

"Brother Quail is right,"

...

Having eaten his fill, Ye Qiu sat there and rested for another half-hour. Seeing that it was already 12:40 in the morning, he decided it was time to return to his cultivation.

When calling the waiter over to settle the bill, Xiao Mei took out three hundred yuan to pay.

The food at this street stall wasn’t too expensive!

"Xiao Mei, there might be some bloodshed in a bit. You sit tight now,"

Ye Qiu said.

"What about you!"

"I’m going to teach them a lesson. I’ll come back and take a shower and rest after that."

Ye Qiu actually stood up and took an empty beer bottle with him as he left.

Inside the stall, the owner, Da Fei, who was enjoying the air conditioning, and a few other waiters watched as Ye Qiu walked out. One waiter asked, "Boss, is that young man going to get beaten to death?"

"Let’s wait and see."

Once Ye Qiu was outside, he said to Brother Quail, "You had your face scraped by me that night and you’re still not sensible. Now you want to come and trouble me again. You really are tired of living."

Ye Qiu’s words only fueled Brother Quail’s anger.

"Chop this kid into mincemeat and throw Him into the Qinhuai River,"

At Brother Quail’s command, his lackeys charged at Ye Qiu like the wind. However, as soon as they got close to him, before even touching him,

"Smack!"

The beer bottle in his hand smashed straight into the heads of the hoodlums, knocking them down limply with a single hit.

Soon, the four hoodlums were all down.

Even Xiao Mei, who was watching with a worried expression, and Da Fei, along with the other waiters inside the stall, who were sitting and enjoying the air conditioning, hadn’t seen clearly how Ye Qiu had taken down the thugs.

"Kill him!"

Brother Quail shouted.

He had felt something was off, but now there was no turning back. It was either Ye Qiu’s death or his inability to carry on as the boss.

As the remaining hoodlums rushed to cut Ye Qiu down, their fruit knives still hadn’t touched him when they were laid out on the ground just like their cohorts had been moments earlier.

Now only Brother Quail and his two sidekicks, Red Hair and Yellow Hair, were left.

Seeing the situation, Red Hair and Yellow Hair knew they were no match for Ye Qiu. They turned to run, for getting hit by Ye Qiu would mean a hospital stay for at least a week.

When the two tried to escape, Ye Qiu picked up an iron rod from the ground and hurled it at Yellow Hair. The rod struck him hard on the back of the head, sending him face-first to the ground.

Red Hair sped up his escape, but Ye Qiu picked up a pebble from the ground, and before Xiao Mei or Boss Da Fei could see clearly, the stone thrown by Ye Qiu hit Yellow Hair on the head, knocking him down as well.

Now, only Brother Quail was left. He couldn’t believe that more than a dozen of his men had been easily taken down by just Ye Qiu.

Brother Quail wanted to run, but his legs felt leaden, heavy, and utterly immobile.

Recalling how easily Ye Qiu had taught him a lesson that night, Brother Quail realized he had greatly underestimated this young man.

As Ye Qiu approached Brother Quail, the latter fell to his knees, looked up at Ye Qiu, and pleaded, "Big, big brother, please spare me! I won’t do it again."

"There’s a next time? What did I tell you last time?"

Ye Qiu asked coldly, looking at Brother Quail as if he were looking at a dead body.

While others might adhere to a three-strike rule, for Ye Qiu, it was a two-strike rule!
