Chapter 499: Chapter 0500: Suitable to Be a Lackey

The two campus security guards kept watching the Mercedes AMG that Ye Qiu was driving until it disappeared from sight.

Ye Qiu drove to the teaching building. After parking the car, Ye Xue and Liu Lingxiu got out, and Ye Qiu locked the car before heading up to the classroom.

As he reached the classroom door, Ye Qiu noticed that most of his classmates were already there.

Moreover, the first person he saw upon entering the classroom was Su Luoluo, seated at her desk.

Su Luoluo still stood out among her classmates!

But she looked thinner!

She had lost a lot of weight!

Su Luoluo seemed to notice Ye Qiu as well.

She looked up and saw Ye Qiu, Liu Lingxiu, and Ye Xue walking in.

At the back of the classroom, Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming had already seen Ye Qiu and waved him over.

Ye Qiu headed towards Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming while Liu Lingxiu led Ye Xue to sit at her seat.

When Ye Qiu sat down, he asked, "Were your parents okay after that day?"

Now, the City Police Bureau was still investigating the mass poisoning incident at the banquet, and they hadn’t found the culprit or even a suspect yet.

As for the hotel staff, Ye Qiu had already treated all of them.

"No problem."

On the day of the poisoning, after they finished eating, Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming didn’t feel anything, only their parents felt slightly unwell.

Later, that discomfort quickly went away.

This was naturally because Ye Qiu had silently treated them, leaving no one there harmed in the end.

"It was aconite Gu poisoning. Fortunately, it was discovered in time."

Ye Qiu said.

Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming didn’t know much about this, but they couldn’t figure out who would be so cruel as to poison the food at a banquet where so many people were present.

"Hey, Qiu. I heard the college entrance exam results are out."

Zhu Zhiming said.

"Have you checked them?"

"No need to check. We can guess they might be worse than our mock exam scores."

Zhu Zhiming said.

"Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you get into Jin University’s Independent Institute."

Jinling University’s Independent Institute was a software college that accepted third-echelon students, with admission requirements higher than vocational schools but lower than second-echelon universities.

However, the tuition fees were several times higher than elsewhere.

This independent institute was established by a prestigious school in collaboration with private businesses, with the primary goal being profit.

"Qiu, I heard the tuition there is very expensive. Over the four years, just the tuition itself will cost at least a hundred thousand."

"I’ll cover it."

Ye Qiu said.

Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming were momentarily speechless. They had been friends with Ye Qiu because they were all considered poor students. Normally, Ye Qiu didn’t have many other friends.

They hadn’t expected that in a critical moment, Ye Qiu would be more reliable than their parents.

This made the two very grateful. They had thought they would have to take a different path if their exam results were poor.

As for Li Qiang, Wang Ming, Wang Peng, and Zhou Tian, these four had originally followed Zhang Wei. However, after Zhang Wei’s death, they ended up working at Zhang Family’s hotel, but only with slightly better positions than ordinary hotel staff.

If these four knew that Ye Qiu was helping Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming to study at a third-tier college with all expenses covered, they would be insanely jealous.

After all, they had followed Zhang Wei since the first year of high school, assisting him with everything, all in hopes of securing their future. But Zhang Wei’s death had dashed all their hopes.

When they saw Ye Qiu and Li Shen chatting in the back of the classroom over the next couple of days, the four looked on with mixed emotions in their eyes, unsure if it was envy or something else.

They knew Ye Qiu was doing very well now.

However, to turn around and try to curry favor with Ye Qiu now—they seemed willing to do it, but they weren’t sure if Ye Qiu would accept.

"Should we go say hello to him?"

Li Qiang whispered.

"Have you forgotten Wei so quickly?"

Wang Peng responded.

"Forget or not, working at the hotel is like being a dog!"

Li Qiang said angrily.

They had thought Zhang Wei’s will would ensure Zhang Dongliang would take good care of them, but in reality, Zhang Wei’s death meant Zhang Dongliang didn’t care about his son’s former friends at all.

"Exactly. We get scolded daily by that supervisor. Soon, we could be assigned to the logistics department."

Wang Ming said, equally dissatisfied.

The logistics department at the hotel meant either washing vegetables, washing dishes, or cleaning, all of which were tiring and menial tasks, not even close to administrative roles, with very low pay.

"Damn Wei for dying!"

Zhou Tian also said unhappily.

"So should we go say hello or not? I heard he’s doing really well. Haven’t you noticed that Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming are different from before?"

Li Qiang said again.

"I want to, but what if he ignores us? It’d be embarrassing."

Wang Peng said.

Moreover, these four had bullied Ye Qiu many times when they were following Zhang Wei, unaware of whether Ye Qiu still remembered.

As Ye Qiu was chatting with Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming, he suddenly saw Wang Ming and the other three coming over.

Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming were indifferent to these four and didn’t understand why they were coming over.

"Hey, Qiu."

Li Qiang greeted first.

The way these four looked at Ye Qiu now was completely different from before.

"What’s up?"

Ye Qiu asked, puzzled.

"Nothing much. Just wanted to say hello, Qiu. After all, we’ve been classmates for three years."

Wang Ming said.

Ye Qiu didn’t say anything, and Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming seemed to understand what these four were up to.

Seeing Ye Qiu’s lack of response, the four awkwardly returned to their seats.

"I heard these four work at Zhang Wei’s father’s hotel now."

Zhu Zhiming said.

"Doing what?"

"I’m not sure, but probably some menial jobs."

Zhu Zhiming said, unable to resist laughing.

Obviously, these four weren’t doing well at the Zhang Family hotel, which was why they came over to greet Ye Qiu now. But they had bullied him before, and Ye Qiu had no friendship with them.

So it was natural that Ye Qiu wasn’t interested in dealing with them. While they couldn’t be friends, they might still serve as henchmen.

Li Shen and Zhu Zhiming didn’t know what Ye Qiu was thinking and refrained from commenting further about the four.

Ye Qiu chatted with Li Shen for over ten minutes when Li Molian walked into the classroom.

Now on the podium, Li Molian addressed the class, "You’ve all graduated, no need to be so tense."

"The college entrance exam results were released yesterday afternoon. I know most of you have already checked your scores. For those who haven’t, I have the score sheets here. You can come and take a look."
