Chapter 887: Chapter 0887: Warm Quilt [Tenth Update]
Louise and Housekeeper Eugene left the underground wine cellar and went up to the winery above. The temperature outside had dropped significantly, and Housekeeper Eugene was clearly struggling with the cold, especially since the winery did not have heating.
"Housekeeper Eugene, if you’re feeling cold, you can head back to the castle first!"
"I can wait a little longer."
...
Ye Qiu found a place to sit down in the underground wine cellar. He noticed that the low oxygen levels in the space made it feel stifling and oppressive.
To make things worse, the smells in the wine cellar—combining the scents of oak barrels and the residual odor from renovations—became nauseating after a while.
Ye Qiu closed his eyes as he sat there and began to circulate the "Primordial Five Emperors Technique," absorbing the unpleasant odors lingering in the cellar.
It was unclear how much time had passed, but when Ye Qiu opened his eyes again, he found that the unpleasant odors in the wine cellar had completely disappeared.
When he got up to smell the oak barrels, he found that it was true—not a trace of foul odor remained.
Even the lingering smell from the renovations was completely gone.
Upstairs in the winery, the unpleasant odor in the air had also been absorbed by Ye Qiu.
Now, he noticed Housekeeper Eugene standing there, waiting for him, with his hands and feet red from the cold.
"Young Master Ye, you’re up!"
"Don’t you notice anything different?"
At first, neither of them noticed anything, but gradually, they realized that the unpleasant smell in the winery above had disappeared entirely.
At first, they thought they had just gotten used to the smell after being exposed to it for so long.
But when Housekeeper Eugene went downstairs to the wine cellar and discovered that there was truly no trace of any odor—especially none from the oak barrels—he was astonished.
This was simply too miraculous!
How on earth did Doctor Ye manage it?
Housekeeper Eugene didn’t know; he only knew that Ye Qiu seemed profoundly mysterious and almost omnipotent.
Ye Qiu and Louise left the winery and returned to the Eastern Castle, making their way to the fifth floor.
Outside, it wasn’t raining, just a bit windy and quite cold, much like winter in his home country.
"I’m going to take a bath first."
Ye Qiu announced.
"Qiu, should I call those two maid-aunties to help you?"
Louise teased.
"No need. I’ll bathe myself. Unless you’re offering to help me, in which case, I wouldn’t mind."
Ye Qiu couldn’t help but think of the luxurious baths at Count Charley’s grand castle, where young maids pampered him. Although being bathed three times a day there had started to feel tedious.
Now Ye Qiu headed toward the bathroom. The facilities here were certainly not as good as those in Count Charley’s grand castle. There was hot water, yes, but it wasn’t from natural underground springs—it was just water heated by fire.
He ran some hot water into the tub, added cool water to adjust the temperature, and then undressed to get in.
Even though he had already showered once earlier in the morning at the Louvre Grand Hotel, Ye Qiu had a habit of bathing more than once a day.
After finishing his bath, he slipped on a pair of boxers and threw on a bathrobe, heading back to his room.
When he reached his room and looked outside, he didn’t see any of those white-furred, red-eyed bats. Could it be that the bats were hiding because of the cold and weren’t flying around tonight?
Ye Qiu doubted it. Even if it was cold, they still needed to eat.
He was convinced the bats were likely hiding on the sixth floor, the highest floor of the castle.
Closing the window, Ye Qiu sat at his desk, opened a book, and prepared to read while continuing his cultivation of the "Primordial Five Emperors Technique."
Of course, Ye Qiu had originally wanted to go online while here, but there were no computers, nor was there an internet connection. Tomorrow, he planned to ask Housekeeper Eugene to see if it was possible to get internet installed here.
Otherwise, life would get a bit dull.
Just as he had been reading for a while, there was a knock at the door.
Ye Qiu thought it might be Zhou Wenting, but when he opened the door, it turned out to be Louise, dressed in a bathrobe. She smelled intoxicatingly fragrant as she approached, the scent rushing toward him.
When Louise stepped inside, she asked, "What are you doing?"
"Reading."
"’On the Influence of Medieval Religion on Europe’? This is an Italian book. You understand Italian too?"
Louise had assumed that Ye Qiu only spoke French and English. She hadn’t expected that he could also read Italian.
This genuinely surprised Louise!
After all, even she only knew a little Italian.
Yet Ye Qiu seemed to understand this deep, religious Italian-language book effortlessly.
"It’s simple, nothing much. If you’re interested, I could explain some of it to you!"
Ye Qiu replied.
Still, knowing that he needed to start cultivating the "Primordial Five Emperors Technique" at eleven o’clock, he didn’t want to chat much longer with Louise.
"Alright then!"
Louise sat directly on the large bed.
...
At 11:30 p.m., seeing that Louise still seemed full of energy, Ye Qiu said, "Louise, I’m going to rest now. If you want to stay and warm the bed for me, you’re welcome to stay. Otherwise, please go back to your own room and rest."
"I wouldn’t warm your bed even if you begged me. I’m not the kind of woman you think I am."
Louise gave Ye Qiu a playful smile before leaving the room in a swirl of fragrant air.
After closing the door, Ye Qiu opened the window. As the cold nighttime wind blew in, the moonlight also streamed inside.
As August 15th approached, the moon abroad was growing rounder and fuller. The recent influx of Moonlight Essence was undoubtedly beneficial for Ye Qiu’s cultivation.
After circulating the "Primordial Five Emperors Technique" and opening his eyes again, it was already 8:30 a.m., Paris time.
Ye Qiu got up, dressed, and went downstairs to wash up, realizing that neither Louise nor Zhou Wenting had come down yet. But the two middle-aged maid-aunties had already prepared breakfast.
The meal included fine French bread, steaming milk, coffee, cereal, fried eggs, and hot dogs. It couldn’t match the luxurious feasts at Count Charley’s grand castle, but it was extravagant compared to the average French white-collar worker’s breakfast.
Ye Qiu asked the maids to wake up Zhou Wenting and Louise, then noticed that Housekeeper Eugene had already gone off to busy himself with tasks.
Housekeeper Eugene was currently arranging for machines to harvest grapes and preparing a hotpot lunch for Ye Qiu.
So by the time Ye Qiu was up and about, the diligent French housekeeper was nowhere to be seen.
Sitting in the dining room, Ye Qiu waited as Louise and Zhou Wenting finished washing up and came downstairs.
The reason Zhou Wenting was sleeping so deeply and for so long was largely due to the weather here.
Back home, the heat made it impossible to sleep comfortably. But in the cold weather here, especially at night, wrapping up tightly in a blanket made for an incredibly restful sleep.
