Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Poison

[Jasmine’s POV]

Everyone in the room paused as we waited for the wolfsbane to enter my system and make me pass out.

But the encompassing darkness never came.

I stared up in shock at the rogue who was holding the needle. He hadn’t given me wolfsbane like Isabella, or else I’d already be unconscious.

So, what the hell did he give me?

I assessed my body as all the rogues leered at my breasts. I tried to tune out their disgusting behavior and focus on what I was feeling.

Despite the freezing cold ground beneath my naked flesh, my body began to warm, reminding me of the time that I had a dangerously high fever. Did they inject me with some kind of poison to make me sick?

No, I didn’t feel ill.

But there was an ache deep in my stomach. I felt like a balloon just waiting to be popped. Why was I so...needy? I wanted someone to trail their hands teasingly down every inch of my body. I needed a pair of soft yet strong lips on mine and to have the taste of a man on my tongue.

Immediately, Gareth popped into my head.

The rogues pushed in closer and formed a circle around me. Their expressions were expectant and hopeful as their eyes ogled my naked body.

As the men stepped closer to me, I pressed my thighs together, wanting to shield myself from them.

But the friction against my center made a jolt of pleasure go down my spine. My breathing became shallow, and my muscles clenched together.

That was when everything clicked. Horror washed over me like a tidal wave.

Those assholes must have injected me with some sort of aphrodisiac—a drug that increased my libido. The only consolation was that the drug didn’t change my personality to make me crave these horrible men. But it did make my body ripe with need.

The rogues noticed the look of horrified realization on my face and laughed cruelly.

Goosebumps erupted in my arms, and I tried to move away from them, but my back hit the wall with a sickening sound that represented my horrible fate.

“We’re going to get you back for all the trouble you caused,” the rogue who I bit said.

“Yeah, but you’re going to enjoy every second of it,” another added, moving closer in a way that reminded me of a snake about to strike. “You’re going to beg us to keep going.”

As they closed in on me, dizziness overwhelmed my brain, and all I could do was pray to the Moon Goddess that someone—anyone—would come to my rescue.

Elliot shot through the dense forest in his wolf form. His paws barely touched the dirt as he easily navigated through the trees. He had picked up on the faint smell of Jasmine’s sweet scent, however, it was easily overpowered by the pungent stench of the humid swamp. The rogues tended to live in such inhospitable environments, since they didn’t want to accidentally wander into the territory of other packs. Elliot had visited this area before, and he roughly knew where most of the rogues were staying.

However, his feet moved in the opposite direction, because this group of men were not average rogue wolves. They were dangerous criminals who were known for accepting the worst jobs for hire. These bastards wouldn’t stay in just any rogue village - they wouldn’t want any witnesses to their horrendous crimes.

As he drew nearer and Jasmine’s smell grew stronger, he growled with rage. His wolf could sense that something awful was happening to her.

Increasing his speed, he broke through the thick trees and scanned the area. In front of him was an unguarded shack. Elliot wondered if they were just being careless, but he didn’t think that was likely. These rogues were seasoned criminals who thought that no one would be able to track down their little hideout.

All of a sudden, Jasmine’s smell seemed to overwhelm the air, causing his wolf to howl in desire.

That was where Jasmine was.

Without wasting a breath, Elliot crashed through the front door. The wood splintered with ease under his sharp paws. The house was littered with fast food bags, and the smell of cigarette smoke clung to every available surface. Elliot tracked Jasmine’s sweet scent to the basement. But he paused at the top of the stairs.

Fury tore through him when he realized that she was in heat.

He flew down the stairs, picking up on the sound of deep, male voices speaking.

“I earned the right to take her first,” one said. “It was my idea to give her the new drug.”

“Fine, but hurry up. I can’t wait to get a crack at that,” another answered.

A loud snarl ripped out of Elliot’s snout as he sprinted into a small room with a jail cell. Rogues were standing around Jasmine, who was naked on the ground, screaming.

He burst into the cell, sinking his sharp teeth into the closest man’s thigh. Metallic blood poured into his mouth, and Elliot ripped off a chunk of his flesh. The rogue shouted in pain and fell to the ground.

“Elliot?” Jasmine cried out weakly, as though she couldn’t believe her eyes.

Satisfaction flowed through him. After he saved her, his mate would be in his debt for life.

All the men spun toward Elliot with surprise and panic in their eyes.

One sniffed the air. “He’s an Alpha!” he yelled in alarm.

Elliot stood on his back two legs and knocked the rogue over. His head hit the wall with a sharp crack and blood oozed out of it.

One of them transformed into a giant dark-red wolf and lunged for Elliot’s throat, but he dodged out of the way. Elliot retaliated by biting the rogue’s neck and tearing his throat out. Bright red blood sprayed onto the cement wall behind him.

The man fell to the ground, dead.

Growls of anger filled the cell at their fallen comrade. The rest of them transformed into their wolves while Elliot tried to get to Jasmine. But a rogue with dark fur crouched protectively in front of her.

Elliot sprang at him, but another one came flying through the air, knocking Elliot off his course.

Then, everything went to hell.

Elliot ran at the rogue and crushed his body against the cement wall. His opponent’s bones cracked underneath him, and Elliot heard the exact moment his heart stopped beating. He didn’t linger over his kill but turned to face three more wolves, who were bearing their teeth menacingly.

The sound of snapping jaws and the smell of blood filled the prison cell. Elliot easily overpowered the one in the middle by pushing him down and stomping on his neck. He turned to another rogue, and he saw fear in his dark eyes.

Good.

He lunged for him and ripped his throat out without giving his opponent time to defend himself.

Soon, there was only one wolf left. He had gray fur and was almost as big as him.

As Elliot sprang toward him, the rogue managed to shoot past him and out of the cell. Elliot watched as he ran up the stairs.

He would not allow him to get away.

With a snarl, Elliot chased after him, but at the top of the stairs, he paused. In the faint distance, he heard the sounds of a large group of wolves running. Their heavy footfalls thundered through the forest.

His stomach dropped when he realized that the rogues he had killed had used their mind link to call in for reinforcements.

Elliot was out of time.

He sprinted down the stairs and back into the jail cell. Jasmine was still lying on the floor chained, and her body flushed with an overwhelming need. Her head whipped from side to side, sending her golden hair flying.

Seeing his mate in heat, Elliot’s wolf was nearly berserk. It howled desperately, instinctively wanting to bed Jasmine. Left with no choice, Elliot was forced to shift back into his human form for better control.

“I’m here,” Elliot whispered to her as he approached. Jasmine was near delirious at this point, and he doubted she could hear him at all.

But he froze when he heard another woman’s whimper.

His blood ran cold when he turned his head to see Isabella in the corner of the cell.
