"Gu Zhihan’s mom, you’ve won, please have a seat. We are about to start the parent-teacher meeting soon,"

the homeroom teacher took a deep breath, made a welcoming gesture to her, and then staggered towards the stage.

Mrs. Gu smiled, pulling Mr. Gu to sit in Mengmeng and Gu Zhihan’s respective seats.

During the parent-teacher meetings, students had to wait outside.

The corridor was now filled with students.

"Gu Zhihan, let’s go to Tong Mo’s area!" Mengmeng said as she pulled her toward Tong Mo’s location.

When they reached her, Mengmeng noticed Tong Mo pacing back and forth with a phone in hand, mumbling to herself.

"Why hasn’t he come yet? They took the money, do they still want to stand me up?"

"What are you muttering about?" Luo Mengmeng asked curiously as she leaned in closer, glanced at her, and then quickly looked over to Tong Mo’s empty seat, and asked, "Didn’t your dad come to attend the meeting for you?"

"No... But I hired one!"

Hearing the first part, Mengmeng was worried that Tong Mo would have to stand at the back of the class for the next week, but she spit out her water laughing at the second part.

"What did you say? You hired a parent to come?" Luo Mengmeng’s eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at her.

She had heard of hiring before, but it was her first time hearing about hiring a parent!

"Shh! Chun Meng, why are you yelling so loudly?" Tong Mo quickly covered her mouth and dragged her into a corner.

Luo Mengmeng’s voice came out muffled through her fingers, "Is it because your dad didn’t want to attend the parent-teacher meeting for you?"

"No, I didn’t even tell him about the parent-teacher meeting," Tong Mo flatly shared the whole situation with her, "I did so poorly on my scores this time, if Tong Aiguo found out, he’d berate me to death after the meeting and might even hire a tutor, which I don’t want at all!"

"As for my stepmom, I definitely couldn’t let her attend the meeting for me; she’d probably mock me endlessly."

"So yesterday I simply went to the job market and hired someone!"
