Cheat God
31. Sky Swallowing Feng

The crimson glow of rebirth still shimmered faintly across Liu Chen’s skin, but his mind was elsewhere. Excitement bubbled quietly in his chest—a calm yet undeniable thrill. Not because of the breakthrough he had just achieved, nor the Taotie blood he had absorbed, but because of what came next.

He glanced at the Heavenly Devourer Spear resting across his back. Its crimson shaft and jagged black-gold edges pulsed faintly, responding to the beating of his heart.

With his current cultivation—high-stage Spirit Foundation Realm—with a divine body that could crush peak Spirit Core beasts barehanded… and now, armed with this beastbone spear…

Could he—perhaps—stand against a Lord Realm cultivator?

The thought passed through his mind like a flash of lightning.

No, not truly. He knew the gap between Spirit Core and Lord Realm was vast—like a chasm carved by heaven itself. Lord Realm cultivators could already touch upon the Law of Dao, using it to manifest divine phenomena in battle. Even a single finger from such an opponent could rupture mountains.

But…

“If it’s just to compete—” he murmured, clenching his fists, “—then maybe… I can hold my ground.”

Just that much was already madness.

But he had no intention of staying where he was.

Because in the depths of his spiritual sea… something had awakened.

As his soul sea calmed after the chaos of absorbing the Taotie’s essence, a seal glowed beneath the surface of his consciousness. It pulsed crimson-black, and as he focused on it, visions filled his mind once more.

Devouring skies. Swallowed stars. Worlds reduced to ash and silence.

Sky Swallowing Feng.

A spear technique passed down from the Taotie’s dying soul. Not a traditional art with forms and stances—but a divine instinct. A predatory law.

It was terrifyingly simple in purpose.

Swallow everything.

When unleashed, the technique devoured the energy of the target—Qi, blood essence, vitality, soul fragments—and absorbed it into the spear. The next strike would return that energy, not as the original, but as a devastating burst under Liu Chen’s control.

He gripped the spear.

It thrummed in response, eager, almost trembling with hunger.

As the technique’s structure unfolded within his golden soul, he realized this wasn’t merely a passive ability—it had active forms. As he mastered it, the scope of what it could devour would expand… and so would his strength.

“Sky Swallowing Feng…” he whispered. “Your appetite might be just like mine.”

He rose slowly to his feet. The ground cracked beneath him—not from force, but from pressure. His physical body was no longer human. Every step he took now stirred the wind.

But there was more.

His gaze shifted back to the Heavenly Devourer Spear.

The bloodlines of beasts often evolved to the point of shifting forms—giant beasts could shrink to human size, and vice versa. The Taotie, a mythical beast of chaos and gluttony, had such power. And because this spear had been forged from its spine, bathed in its essence, and nurtured by its will…

The spear shared that trait.

Szzzkt—

With a mental command, Liu Chen poured energy into the weapon.

With a mere thought, the spear shifted again. Its length extended rapidly, matching his body as he released a portion of his divine physique. Muscles swelled, his skin shimmered faintly with a molten hue, and his height grew—ten feet, then twelve.

As the spear grew longer and thicker to match, Liu Chen spun it once, and the pressure caused the very walls of the pit to crack and tremble.

Boom.

The echo sounded like a thunderclap.

It wasn’t just about size. The spear changed weight and balance with his form—becoming an extension of his will, his strength, his blood.

He leapt into the air and swung it in a wide arc.

The Sky Swallowing Feng activated again mid-swing. Everything in the path of the weapon was dragged forward—rocks, mist, wind—until it collapsed into a single exploding vortex of energy that vanished the moment it appeared.

His God and Demon Leader Body allowed him to grow as well—when he unleashed its full might, he could reach up to same as giant beast in height, with corresponding surges in muscle strength, soul density, and defense.

A normal spear would be useless in that state. But this weapon… It was made for both man and monster.

“Form shift,” Liu Chen muttered.

The spear shrank again, its form condensing back into its elegant six-foot version, coiled with crimson runes and beastlight. Yet the pressure it emitted only became more refined.

He could feel the Sky Swallowing Feng stirring inside it. The first technique was ready to be tested.

His fingers tightened around the grip.

Liu Chen exhaled slowly, letting the spear rest across his shoulder.

Everything was falling into place.

He had gained a mythical weapon born of the Taotie. He had devoured its blood, refined its soul, absorbed its memories, inherited its martial path—and now awakened a forbidden technique that would allow him to fight far beyond his realm.

Still, his expression was calm.

As if this was only a stepping stone.

“Now…” he said, turning toward the distant entrance of the pit. “Let’s see who dares stand in my way next.”

With a flash of golden light and a swirl of black mist, Liu Chen leapt from the ancient corpse and soared upward.

He raised his hand, and a faint glow emerged from his spatial ring—an old jade slip, flickering with a dull blue light.

Two days ago, just before his breakthrough, he had received this signal. it was the communication talisman that his father give them before dispatch. he read the content upon talisman.

Shadowwind Rift – 240 miles northeast.
Message: “Found an ancient site buried under shifting sands. Strong energy pulses detected. It seems that first class sect, Earth Pill Sect had remained here.”

He opened his eyes slowly.

“Shadowwind Rift…” he muttered.

It wasn’t far. If he pushed his body to its limit, he could reach it by dusk.

The Nirvana Lotus and the Taotie’s remains had already pushed his cultivation to a terrifying level… but he had no intention of stopping here.

He looked around the now-quiet pit—nothing remained. The lotus had been refined, the spear claimed, the beast’s essence swallowed whole.

“Time to move,” he whispered.

He reached up and tied his long hair into a high warrior’s knot, his eyes glinting red-gold in the dark.

With a flick of his hand, the Heavenly Devourer Spear slid into its custom sheath behind his back.

His cloak fluttered behind him, the lingering aura of devouring still coiling around his form like invisible flame.

Then, he leapt.

Boom!

The ground split where he launched, his figure vanishing into the horizon in a streak of light and shadow.

The hunt had begun once again.

And this time…

The one devouring heaven itself was on the move.
