Chapter 58: Where Is Claire!?

Evander’s POV

I really hated Damian at that moment! He knew perfectly well that there was only one woman I cared about, and yet he dared to bring up someone else. I had half a mind to strangle him through the phone.

But I forced myself to calm down as I took a slow breath. "I have told you a thousand times, Damian— I am married, and I am not interested in hearing about any other woman." My voice was cold and firm. Patience wasn’t exactly my thing, especially not with him.

Damian just laughed, unfazedly. "Alright, alright. No need to get so worked up, man. I just thought you might find this... interesting."

I clenched my jaw, doing my best to keep my tone steady. "I am really not interested, Damian," I repeated, feeling my irritation spike.

"Oh, here she is!" Damian muttered, ignoring everything I had just said. "She really is stunning, man! Once you see her, you will forget about your wife!"

My patience finally snapped. "Are you out of your mind?" I barked, anger flooding through me. "Have you ever seen my wife!? What right do you have to say something like that?"

Claire was the most beautiful woman in the world. Even if the whole world tried to convince me otherwise, it wouldn’t be possible.

Damian chuckled, completely unfazed toward my anger. "Man, how could I have known? I only found out you were married after she had already left. So how can you blame me for being clueless?"

He paused for a second as if thinking about something. Then, in an annoyingly loud tone, he blurted, "Damn! I knew I had seen her somewhere! Dude, why did you have her as a nanny in your house? Isn’t she that model who has had a few impactful roles? Claire Reed— yeah, that’s her!"

What did he just say?

My heart skipped a beat, and I felt a mix of emotions swirling inside me. "Claire Reed," I repeated under my breath. Damian’s words hit me like a punch. He kept rambling on, but I was already deep in thought, trying to make sense of everything.

"Wait! Are you saying the nanny who came to care for me when I was sick was actually Claire Reed?" My voice shook as I processed the shock of his words.

Damian laughed in amusement. "Yeah! That’s what I have been saying. I mean, your little guy, Baby Eliam, kept calling her ’Mom,’ and she didn’t even correct him. Man... who knew you had such beauty hanging around as a nanny?"

"You said you didn’t want any woman by your side other than your wife... but your study cabinets are full of her magazines!"

His words were still echoing in my mind as Damian kept rambling on his own. My thoughts were spinning. Claire Reed? There, of all places? She was more than just a model and actress; She was my wife.

Was I really about to meet my Claire at this stupid’s meeting place?

"Are you saying Claire is there for the audition?" I demanded, gripping the phone tighter.

Damian chuckled, oblivious to my tone. "Oh, yeah, she is here. And man, she is a real beauty! But it seems she doesn’t like me much. I tried to make a move, but—"

Before he could finish, I slammed my hand on the table and shot to my feet. "Don’t you dare go near her!" I snarled, my voice low but filled with anger. "She is not someone you can just mess around with, Damian."

There was silence on the other end, as if my reaction had taken him by surprise. The idea of him trying to hit on Claire made my blood boil. I didn’t care if he was confused or amused— I wasn’t about to let him treat her like just another woman in his line of sight.

"What the hell!" Damian shot back. "I didn’t say I was making a move on her! I already told you, she doesn’t even like me."

"Whatever. I am going there right now!" I snapped, cutting the call without waiting for his response.

"Zaniel! Get the car ready!" I barked as I grabbed my blazer and stormed out of my office. I had to see Claire— there was no way I would let Damian of all people be around her, even for a moment.

My heart pounded as I rushed toward the car. As much as I resented Damian’s behavior, I couldn’t deny I was grateful. If he hadn’t called, I wouldn’t have known Claire was there. And now I finally had the chance to see her again.

"Where are we going?" Zaniel asked, trying to keep up with my pace, there was a hint of curiosity in his tone.

"To Damian’s meeting place," I replied briskly.

"But, boss! You still have an hour, and there is a huge stack of papers you need to sign since you have been away from the office," he said, sounding a bit panicked.

"Just bring them with you! I will sign on the way," I responded, knowing full well that my work was piling up. I had no other choice, as it was really important.

Zaniel sighed, but he didn’t argue. He quickly went to his office and gathered the files. I had a feeling he wasn’t happy with this decision, but he understood that once I had my mind set, there was no point trying to change it.

The car stopped in front of the building, and I got out quickly and barely looked around. I adjusted my suit and tried to settle the frustration building up since I didn’t wish to meet Damian. However, I only had one thought— seeing Claire.

As I walked inside, Zaniel followed behind me closely. I spotted Damian near the doorway on the way. He was grinning like he had been waiting for me.

"You are finally here?" he said in an amused tone.

I ignored his smirk. "Where is Claire?" I asked straight away.

"What!? Don’t tell me you are really here to meet Claire!?"
