Chapter 530: Chapter 530: Demon Emperor Mausoleum! (4 more)
Ling Feng and his companions rode atop several large Gale Demon Wolves, slowly making their way to the entrance of Sky Demon City.
These Gale Demon Wolves had served as Ling Feng and his group’s mode of transportation throughout the journey. The greatest advantage of these creatures was their incredible speed; at full pace, they had managed to enter the vicinity of Sky Demon City in a mere three days.
At the formidable gates of White Bone City stood a patrol of Leopard-headed Men—members of the Sky Demon City’s Forbidden Army.
The city was nearly as large as the Imperial City of the Sky White Empire. In fact, it was a gathering place for over a hundred different races from the Demon Clan and served as the imperial metropolis of all demon beast nations in the Southern Border!
The crowds—or more accurately, swarms of demons—were ceaseless at the city gates, some riding in Dragon Carriages pulled by Earth Dragons, and others, like Ling Feng and his party, mounted on common demon beasts.
With an utterly serene expression on her exquisite face, Hai Lingxiang rode a Gale Demon Wolf, leading Ling Feng slowly into the city.
The status of the Scaled Demon Clan was not low, and the Gale Demon Wolves as mounts further confirmed Hai Lingxiang’s identity. Therefore, the Leopard-headed guards did not bother to check and simply let them pass.
Upon seeing members of the Scaled Demon Clan entering, the common demon beasts with lowly bloodlines, who couldn’t even count as part of the Demon Clan, hurriedly prostrated themselves on the ground. Only after Hai Lingxiang and her group had passed did they dare lift their heads.
Such was the way within the Demon Clan: bloodline determined everything.
This was somewhat different from the Human Clan, where demons of noble bloodlines would continue to grow in strength even without any cultivation, simply by sleeping with their eyes closed when the time came.
Members of the Demon Clan had lifespans that human Martial Artists could hardly fathom, but correspondingly, their cultivation progress was much slower than that of humans.
Along the way, not a single member of the Demon Clan questioned Ling Feng’s identity, and they all treated him as if he were a member of the High-level Demon Clan. The realization made Ling Feng secretly ecstatic—it seemed his mission might go quite smoothly.
Nevertheless, the exact location of the holy site within Sky Demon City and how to infiltrate it still required meticulous planning.
"Eh?"
Just then, Ling Feng noticed a billowing demon fog emerging from a certain area within Sky Demon City, so dense it was almost crystallizing. The thick demon energy blotted out the sun, causing all the demons who saw it to shut their eyes in trepidation and appear to pray for something.
"Hai Lingxiang, what place is that?" Ling Feng asked, taken aback.
Hai Lingxiang hesitated for a moment but eventually opened her delicate lips and spoke softly, "Lord Long Fei, that place is no secret in Sky Demon City."
She paused, then continued, "That is the resting place of the past Demon Emperors, the holy site of our Sky Demon City. It’s where the remains of the previous Demon Emperors lie buried, and even the high-ranking demons of the royal bloodline cannot step half a foot inside."
"The Demon Emperor Mausoleum? The holy site of Sky Demon City?"
Ling Feng’s eyelids twitched, and a glint of sharpness flashed in his eyes: he hadn’t expected that on his very first day, he would learn the location of the holy site of Sky Demon City so easily.
However, considering it was the mausoleum of past Demon Emperors and heavily guarded, it wouldn’t be anything like what he could imagine; there were likely Demon King Level powerhouses overseeing everything.
Exactly how to gain access to the mausoleum was something Ling Feng still had no idea of.
"Lord Long Fei, we have been through a tiresome journey. I will take you back to the Scaled Demon Clan’s tribe soon so you can rest properly," Hai Lingxiang said softly.
"Mm, much appreciated."
Ling Feng nodded slightly. Rushing into the Demon Emperor’s Mausoleum was not something to be hurried. For the time being, it would be best to stay with the Scaled Demon Clan.
As Ling Feng pondered how to infiltrate the Demon Emperor’s Mausoleum, a sudden loud shout came from up ahead.
"Stop there!"
The voice was dull yet forceful. The surrounding low-level demon beasts hastily knelt down, for they felt the overwhelmingly noble bloodline of the Demon Clan.
Even the Gale Demon Wolf mount that Ling Feng was sitting on seemed startled as it immediately laid prostrate on the ground, trembling in fear. These common Third Rank demon beasts naturally could not withstand the suppression of such noble bloodlines.
Hai Lingxiang’s eyes flashed with a cold light; her expression was icy as she berated, "Kuang Niu, what is the meaning of this!"
Ling Feng looked up to see a uniformed patrol team marching neatly toward them, all clad in heavy armor. They were the Minotaurs, towering over two meters tall with physiques as robust as mountains, integrating a bull’s head with a human body.
Each Minotaur was rippling with muscles that seemed to bind a thousand kilograms of explosives within every inch, capable of destroying everything at any moment.
The leading Minotaur held a heavy shield and a heavy sword, and he slammed it forcefully against the ground. He exhaled a puff of white breath from his nostrils and stood brazenly in front of Hai Lingxiang, his eyes twinkling with blatant desire as he licked his lips and said, "Princess Lingxiang, Old Niu has been waiting for you for a long time!"
"Commander Kuang Niu, please do not block my way," Hai Lingxiang said with fury in her Fong Mu, clearly displeased with the sudden interruption by the Minotaur in front of her.
The one addressed as "Kuang Niu" clearly did not take Hai Lingxiang’s words to heart. His gaze swept across the area and caught sight of Ling Feng among the group of Gale Demon Wolves, a flash of anger crossing his eyes, "Hmm, who is that lad!"
"That’s none of your business!" Hai Lingxiang said coldly. "Move aside. Do you think that just because you have become the commander of the guard that you can do whatever you want?"
"I, Old Niu, suspect that kid has sneaked into Sky Demon City. Look at him, from head to toe, where does he have any characteristics of the Demon Clan?"
Kuang Niu gestured, bellowing loudly, "Men, seize that lad!"
"I would like to see who dares!" Hai Lingxiang stood up abruptly, her gaze sweeping coldly across the Bull Head Clansmen, "Does the Bull Head Clan want to start a war with our Scaled Demon Clan?"
As soon as Hai Lingxiang spoke, the anxious Minotaurs immediately halted, not daring to move an inch.
Though not the strongest in battle, the Scaled Demon Clan held one of the most complicated networks of relationships in Sky Demon City. Many among the High-level Demon Clan with King Beast Bloodlines were quite close to the beautiful members of the Scaled Demon Clan.
Even in the realm of the Demon Clan, beauty was indeed a "weapon."
"Humph!" Kuang Niu’s eyes bulged, exhaling puffs of white breath, his gaze locked onto Ling Feng as he said coldly, "Lad, do you only know how to hide under a woman’s skirt? You coward!"
In truth, Kuang Niu was one of Hai Lingxiang’s suitors and seeing a male from the Demon Clan dare to draw so close to the female demon he presumed to claim, naturally, jealousy set his heart ablaze, prompting him to seek trouble with Ling Feng.
"Hai Lingxiang, come back."
Ling Feng slowly dismounted from the back of the Gale Demon Wolf, staring down Kuang Niu with pride as he said unhurriedly, "Based on your status as a lowly member of the Minotaur Clan, how dare you speak insolently to me? What should the punishment be?"
Kuang Niu’s pupils shrank in a flash. He glared fiercely at Ling Feng and shouted, "What did you say, boy?"
Ling Feng took three slow steps forward, standing shoulder to shoulder with Hai Lingxiang, his gaze provocatively fixed on Kuang Niu, standing haughtily, "Lowly Minotaur, do you not kneel upon seeing me!"
According to Hai Lingxiang, the bloodline of the Three-headed Demon Flood Dragon Clan was extremely high-level; now that he was part of this "nobility" among the Demon Clan, he naturally had to maintain the dignity of the nobility.
"Hm?"
Seeing Ling Feng looking down at him with such arrogance, a trace of doubt crept into Kuang Niu’s mind: could this lad truly belong to a High-level Demon Clan with a high-level bloodline?
This towering warrior of the Minotaur Clan eyed Ling Feng, uncertain in his heart.
Although Ling Feng’s demon energy was pure, it was precisely that unadulterated purity which confounded Kuang Niu, leaving him unable to determine Ling Feng’s clan.
