Chapter 497: Chapter 497: The Three Sects Martial Meeting! (2nd Update)
Seeing the incomparable confidence in Ling Feng’s eyes, Elder Yao excitedly clenched his fists.
Half a year ago, Ling Feng already had the strength comparable to that of an Origin Transformation Realm powerhouse, and although he remained at the level of the Magnetic Condensation Realm to this very day, his power was astonishingly terrifying.
At the very least, he would not be any weaker than the sect masters of the Liuyun Sword Sect and the Qiankun Sect!
Despite Elder Yao having guessed as high as he could about Ling Feng’s strength, he would soon realize that talent limited his imagination, and he simply could not fathom how frightening a genius of this world could be!
"Three days later, huh." Ling Feng nodded slightly, thinking to himself, "Good, after resolving the matter of the Three Sects’ martial competition, I’ll head straight south to the Southern Border Demon Domain!"
"Tell me the specific rules." Ling Feng spoke indifferently.
"Yes, Sect Leader!"
Elder Yao nodded and immediately detailed the rules of the Three Sects’ martial competition. The rules were actually quite simple, divided into battles for disciples and battles for sect masters.
In terms of resource allocation, the sect masters’ battles accounted for about seventy percent, while the disciples’ battles accounted for thirty percent.
According to the rules, anyone under the age of thirty, even if they were Inner Elders or Stewards, could participate in the disciples’ battle.
As for the sect masters’ battle, it goes without saying, it was a contest of skills between the leaders of the Three Sects.
In past years, Lin Canglang’s strength among the sect leaders of the Three Sects was middle-ranking, and the level of the disciples was also generally strong, so they had always ranked second among the Top Three Sects.
However, this time, due to a small number of elite Inner Sect Disciples like Jing Wuxue being crippled by Ling Feng, and most of the Iron Blood Alliance members having left the Wenxian Sect, the disciples’ battle at this year’s Three Sects’ martial competition was likely to suffer.
Up-and-comers like Lo Jianying and Jiang Wanqing had made rapid progress over the last six months, but unfortunately, time was too tight. Given another year or two, the situation would have been much better.
Elder Yao reported the situation within the sect truthfully and roughly selected ten members to participate in the disciples’ battle, most of whom were around the Seventh to Eighth Level of the Magnetic Condensation Realm, and not a single one was at the Tenth Level!
With such a lineup, the chances of victory in the disciples’ battle were probably less than twenty percent.
"Sect Leader, for the disciples’ battle, I do not hold out much hope, so our last hope is on your battle as the sect master," Elder Yao said solemnly.
"Indeed, the internal strife half a year ago did heavily impact Wenxian Sect," Ling Feng nodded slightly, "If only the sect masters’ battle remains, then so be it."
With my strength, even facing both great sect masters alone wouldn’t be a problem.
"Wait a moment." That’s when Lin Xian’er stepped forward, her teeth clenched, "I’m also a member of Wenxian Sect, am I not?"
"You?" Ling Feng looked at Lin Xian’er, "What do you mean?"
"I want to represent Wenxian Sect in the disciples’ battle!" Lin Xian’er’s gaze met Ling Feng’s, "Ling Feng, you’ve always been helping me, and now it’s my turn to help you. Besides, your Master could very well be my biological father. I, too, am a member of Wenxian Sect!"
"Good, with your participation, there should be no problem with the disciples’ battle," Ling Feng said with a nod and a smile.
Lin Xian’er now fully possessed battle prowess at the A-class Disciple level, and for her, a disciples’ battle of a Nine Stream Sect was not challenging at all.
"Elder Yao, add Miss Lin Xian’er to the list, she indeed has deep connections with our Wenxian Sect. Now, as the Sect Leader, I appoint her as an Inner Elder of Wenxian Sect. Do you have any objections?"
"No objections!" Elder Yao nodded repeatedly. How could he refuse, when Lin Xian’er was willing to help?
Although he did not know the specifics of Lin Xian’er’s strength, there were no weaklings among those who came from Heavenly Position Academy!
"Sect Leader, if there’s nothing else, I’ll go and make the arrangements." Seeing the sky growing dark, Elder Yao stood and excused himself.
"Alright, go ahead."
Ling Feng nodded. He had dealt with so many things upon returning; being the Sect Leader was indeed no easy task.
As the elders had all left, Su Hongxiu came forward with a tray made of red wood, her smile beaming. "Sect Leader, you’ve worked hard. Here is your favorite lotus seed soup, please drink some to soothe your throat."
Ling Feng looked down and, indeed, on the red wooden tray was a bowl of piping hot silver fungus and lotus seed soup.
Ling Feng took the bowl of lotus seed soup, scooped up a spoonful and took a sip, nodding and smiling. "Hong Xiu, I haven’t seen you for half a year, and your cooking skills have improved greatly."
"No, not really." Su Hongxiu’s face flushed slightly, then she turned to Lin Xian’er and said softly, "Sister, the kitchen still has some warm. I’ll get you some too."
"Oh, um... thank you, Junior Sister Su." Lin Xian’er nodded her head. Despite her noble character, she had never had the slightest touch with culinary skills.
"Eh? How do you know my surname is Su?" exclaimed Su Hongxiu with wide eyes. The Sect Leader clearly only called her Hong Xiu.
"Hong Xiu, you’ve met her before, have you forgotten?" Ling Feng touched his nose and said with a light smile, "On the day we thrashed the Iron Blood Alliance thoroughly, Miss Lin was also there."
"Ah?" Su Hongxiu blinked, carefully scrutinizing Lin Xian’er for a moment before exclaiming in shock, "You’re that... that very pretty Lin Feng? You... you’re actually a woman!"
"Yes, it’s me." Lin Xian’er narrowed her eyes and smiled. "Due to some reasons, I had to disguise myself as a man. Sorry about that, Junior Sister Su."
Su Hongxiu stuck out her tongue, "No need to be sorry, hehe."
Before long, Ling Feng had finished the lotus seed soup and placed the jade bowl back on the tray, saying with a laugh, "Now that I’m full and content, it’s time to get some real work done."
With that, Ling Feng strode out of the Main Peak Hall. Behind him, his True Qi Wings spread and he immediately floated up into the air.
The next moment, Ling Feng formed a hand seal, and from his Spirit Storage Ring appeared a narrow spirit vein that stretched across the sky, obscuring the sun and completely hiding the blood-red hue of the setting sun.
This move was something that Ling Feng had worked hard to learn - that Despicable Donkey had only reluctantly taught him.
Originally, Ling Feng had seen the Despicable Donkey drawing Primordial Stone Veins directly and wanted to learn the trick as well.
The Despicable Donkey had looked down upon Ling Feng, claiming that his True Qi was insufficient to lift such a heavy vein. But then, Ling Feng unlocked three Mixed Element Locks and with a burst of True Qi, the Despicable Donkey stopped making comments.
The Despicable Donkey had named this method of transporting veins the "Sky Flipping Handprint." Puffed up with pride, he demonstrated the hand seal to Ling Feng, saying that it would take at least half a year for Ling Feng to learn such a complex seal.
However, using the ability of the Heavenly Dao Eye, Ling Feng had only watched it once, then successfully formed the seal.
Nonetheless, realm limitations still applied, so Ling Feng could only transport the smallest of the veins. Even so, it left the Despicable Donkey dumbfounded and exclaiming "freak!"
