Chapter 402: Chapter 402: Teacher Ling Feng! (3 more)

At General Deng’s repeated earnest requests, and considering Ling Feng really needed the Demon Mirage Crystal Core, he reluctantly agreed to become a teacher for the spoiled heiress, Deng Yongshi.

"Come along, my friend Ling Feng, follow me to a place, haha..." chuckled General Deng, with a squint in his eyes, "I have already prepared a modest feast at Youlan Small House. Let’s consider it as Shi’s apprenticeship banquet."

With a bitter smile, Ling Feng had no choice but to bow politely to Deng Xian, saying gently, "Then the junior will obediently comply."

In his heart, Ling Feng sighed. After all, he was the Sect Leader of the Wenxian Sect, and taking on a few disciples shouldn’t have been a big deal. However, his very first student had to be someone as brash and willful as Deng Yongshi, causing Ling Feng a major headache.

Thinking about acquiring the Demon Mirage Crystal Core from Deng Yongshi only increased his sense of uncertain foreboding.

Heaving a soft sigh, Ling Feng could do nothing but follow General Deng towards the Youlan Small House, walking slowly as he had mentioned.

Under the current circumstances, he would just have to take things one step at a time.

...

On the south side of the General Mansion, after crossing a crystal-clear river by boat, stood a very quiet manor opposite the riverbank; this was the Youlan Small House.

The Youlan Small House was the birthday gift General Deng gave to Deng Yongshi when she turned fourteen. This clearly showed the extent of General Deng’s favoritism toward his granddaughter, to an incomparable degree.

Inside the grand hall of the Youlan Small House, the servants, under the arrangement of a middle-aged woman who was slightly older, had laid out a lavish banquet. It featured mountains of delicacies, fine wines, and sumptuous dishes, everything one could wish for.

"Aunt Lan, who are we hosting this banquet for?" asked a graceful young girl in emerald green, hugging the middle-aged woman’s slender waist from behind, her eyes squinting into crescent moons as she giggled, "Could it be that Grandfather finally relented and is willing to let me out?"

Aunt Lan gently pried away Deng Yongshi’s hands and smiled as she shook her head, "Miss Yongshi, this has all been arranged by the Old General. How could I possibly know what the Old General is thinking?"

"Oh..."

Deng Yongshi pouted slightly. Ever since she had returned from the auction last time and had made a scene about confronting Ling Feng, she had angered her grandfather. Consequently, General Deng, who would usually indulge her in every way, had actually confined her for a month, restricting her solely to the Youlan Small House and nowhere else.

Having endured more than half the month, Deng Yongshi felt like a canary trapped in a cage, yearning to fly freely under the blue sky.

"So, Aunt Lan, can you give me a little hint? Is Grandfather coming over?" Deng Yongshi asked with a bright smile.

"Shi, there’s no need to guess wildly. Look, isn’t Grandfather already here? Hahaha..."

Just then, General Deng’s hearty laughter could be heard from outside the courtyard. Deng Yongshi immediately jumped up excitedly. This time, she had to sweet-talk him, pressuring him gently—or forcefully, to get him to allow her freedom!

"Grandfather!"

Deng Yongshi rushed out excitedly to greet General Deng, but to her surprise, behind her grandfather followed a youth dressed in white.

And this youth, wasn’t he the very Ling Feng she detested to the point of itching teeth!

Instantly, the smile on Deng Yongshi’s face froze, replaced by a look of anger.

"This stinking guy actually dares to come knocking on my door!"

"Just because I was put under solitary confinement for a month, and it’s all because of this stinky kid!"

However, Deng Xian completely ignored the expression on his granddaughter’s face. Instead, he turned around with a smile to Ling Feng and said beamingly, "Young friend Ling Feng, here we are at the Youlan Small House. Come, come, the feast is ready. Join this old man for a couple of glasses!"

"Alright," Ling Feng nodded, "Honored by the favor, I shall willingly keep you company."

"Hahaha..." Deng Xian stroked his beard and laughed heartily, pulling Ling Feng into the hall. Then he turned back to Deng Yongshi, who was stiff in the courtyard, and said, "Shi, aren’t you a bit too excited seeing your new teacher?"

"New teacher?" Deng Yongshi’s eyelid twitched, and looking back and forth between Deng Xian and Ling Feng, it didn’t take her long to grasp her grandfather’s intention.

"Have him as my teacher?" Deng Yongshi nearly leaped up on the spot, "Impossible, absolutely impossible! I refuse to acknowledge this stinking kid as my teacher!"

"Nothing’s impossible, given that your grandfather has already decided." Deng Xian chuckled lightly, sitting down with Ling Feng and said with a smile, "Come, young friend Ling Feng, please eat and drink as much as you like, consider this your own home."

Ling Feng sat down with a smile, maintaining a calm expression, "Thank you, Elder Deng."

"Heh-heh, we’re all family here, no need for thanks." Deng Xian said with a squint and a smile, then called out softly, "Someone, pour some wine for Young Master Ling!"

Aunt Lan, holding a pot of Jade Dew, made her way delicately over and filled a cup each for Ling Feng and General Deng, then with a cheerful smile, she stepped back to the side, standing by attentively.

The rest of the servants also had various dining utensils ready, carefully standing by both sides of the dining table, ready to serve at a moment’s call.

General Deng picked up his glass, sipped lightly, and seeing his granddaughter still standing in the courtyard unwilling to come in, he lightly stroked his beard and said with a gentle smile, "Shi, why won’t you come in?"

"Grandfather, what is he worth to be my teacher? I won’t accept it; I simply won’t!" Deng Yongshi clenched her fists tightly, fuming.

"The reason is that your grandfather sees potential in him. Tell me, how many teachers have you driven away over the years? Without some unorthodox methods, we can’t deal with you!" Deng Xian put down his wine cup forcefully on the table and said coldly, "Today, you will accept it, whether you like it or not!"

"I won’t, I simply won’t!" Deng Yongshi felt like her lungs would explode with fury, her eyes almost spewing fire, "Stinky brat, you’ve bewitched my grandfather. I... I’ll kill you!"

With that, Deng Yongshi drew her Soft Sword from her waist and fiercely stabbed towards Ling Feng.

"How dare you!"

The Old General’s expression turned icy, and his voice terribly cold as he emotionlessly uttered two words, "Sit down!"

Having been through many battles, General Deng exuded an aura of military authority that instantly sent a shiver down Deng Yongshi’s spine, freezing her in place.

Though she was prone to acting out, she knew to weigh the gravity of situations. Her grandfather had never been this angry before, and she knew that if he truly got serious, the consequences would be much more severe than solitary confinement.

Obediently sitting down opposite Ling Feng, Deng Yongshi was like a small cat that had been scared stiff, shrinking in her chair, motionless with her head down. But her beautiful eyes held a look of immense anger, and she glared at Ling Feng from the corners of her eyes, grinding her teeth with hatred.

Stinking brat, all of this is your fault!

Seeing Deng Yongshi finally sitting down obediently, General Deng’s face softened slightly, and he gave Ling Feng an apologetic smile as he said lightly, "Young friend Ling Feng, I’ll have to trouble you to properly discipline her from now on!"
