819: 274: Jerry, do you have any complaints?
(Asking for monthly votes!) _3 819: 274: Jerry, do you have any complaints?
(Asking for monthly votes!) _3 Jerry Stackhouse’s first attempt ended in failure, and he got back up immediately after to play defense.
But just as he’d crossed the halfway line, the Hawks had already completed their scoring.
Nowadays, the Pistons’ defense would shame the Detroit Bad Boys of ten years ago.
Though this Pistons team wears the same jerseys as the two-time champion Pistons, there’s nothing else they have in common.
It’s hard to compare the Detroit Pistons that once made Michael Jordan feel almost hopeless defensively with today’s undisciplined Detroit Pistons.
Marion just casually cut back and easily threw off Joe Smith, the 1995 first pick who joined the Pistons due to a contract scandal, and then scored a slam dunk over Jerome Williams, center of the class of 1996.
The Detroit Pistons’ defense is nothing to speak of against the Hawks, and as a true team leader, Stackhouse should remind everyone to focus on defense and stay attentive.
But Stackhouse couldn’t care less about that; he simply raised his hand again: “Pass me the ball!”
All he cared about was scoring.
In the next play, Stackhouse faced off against Pippen with a mid-range jump shot, but it bounced off the rim.
After being blocked by Roger in the first play, Jerry Stackhouse missed again in the second.
Roger didn’t miss the chance to teach Stackhouse: “Waste, are you getting 40 points tonight like this?
Forget about being the scoring leader, Jerry, with your skill, even if I miss five fewer shots each game, you couldn’t catch up.”
Jeff Hornacek watched from the bench with pleasure, experiencing for the first time the thrill of fighting fire with fire.
The two failed attacks made Jerry Stackhouse feel embarrassed, so in this play, he took the initiative to defend Roger, hoping to redeem himself defensively.
Roger didn’t waste Stackhouse’s efforts and raised his hand asking for the ball.
Stackhouse immediately pressured tightly, trying to force Roger into a mistake.
But Roger, with just a spin move, completely outmaneuvered his lifetime rival and confidently sank a mid-range jump shot.
Roger shook his head after scoring: “Are you always this brave?”
Stackhouse shouted angrily at Roger: “Why don’t you try defending me!”
But he didn’t get his wish; the Hawks still had Pippen guarding Stackhouse.
Stackhouse boasted: “You know it’s tough to guard me, you don’t dare expend too much energy on me, how dare you call yourself a God without daring a one-on-one with me?”
Before Roger could respond, Pippen who was in front of Stackhouse chuckled first: “Kid, stop being ridiculous, don’t want to waste energy on you?
You don’t even have the qualifications to match up with Roger!
At that moment, Jerry Stackhouse’s dignity was greatly damaged.
He couldn’t believe he wasn’t getting even a bit of respect here.
Once again, those memories of being abandoned, despised, and belittled started to haunt Stackhouse’s mind.
Unconvinced, Stackhouse aggressively pushed against Pippen, but this time Pippen didn’t mess up and immediately sidestepped to block Stackhouse, successfully stealing the ball.
Pippen darted forward, grabbing the ball and launching a quick counterattack.
Stackhouse chased desperately; his current athletic ability naturally surpassed this aging Pippen, and he wanted to regain his trampled dignity with a chase block.
Pippen rushed into the paint, took two strides.
Jerry Stackhouse was preparing to leap, but Pippen suddenly tossed the ball backward.
Stackhouse turned, eyes on the ball, then saw Roger charging toward him like a flame!
With a loud bang, Jerry Stackhouse was knocked to the baseline again, and Roger completed an alley-oop dunk!
In under three minutes of play, he’d been knocked out by Roger twice.
Roger landed and stood over Stackhouse, looking at him as if he were trash.
Jeff Hornacek felt he’d never been so satisfied in his life; for so many years, the person who had humiliated him had never been punished.
$1000 fine and a three-game suspension was Jerry Stackhouse’s merciless mockery of Hornacek.
But tonight, Roger finally brought justice for him!
For the remainder of the game, Jerry Stackhouse proved that even within the realm of stat padding, he’s among the weakest.
True stat padders ignore victories, but you must admit they have remarkable skills.
They’re either physically strong, great at fast breaks, or understand war strategies.
But Jerry Stackhouse failed to exemplify any of the above, his only response to Pippen’s defense was to make more frenzied shots, hoping more attempts would yield points.
Ironically, this exposed his true skill level, with his shooting repeatedly clanking, his accuracy declining further.
On the other hand, Roger accumulated impressive scoring data with reasonable shooting attempts.
By halftime, the Pistons were down by 16 points.
Stackhouse posted an astonishing 3 out of 15 by halftime, scoring 10 points, with a mere 20% shooting rate!
Roger only attempted 11 shots but already had 17 points.
In just half a game, the gap between them had become evident.
Jerry Stackhouse lowered his head as he prepared to walk back to the tunnel; Roger happened to walk past him, deliberately thrusting his shoulder into Stackhouse.
Stackhouse turned his head angrily at Roger, but Roger didn’t even glance at him.
Just as Stackhouse was about to chase him, Andrae Patterson also deliberately shoulder-bumped Stackhouse: “Buddy, tell me, are you dissatisfied with anything?”
“I fu…”
Stackhouse hadn’t finished speaking when he was quickly surrounded by a group of Hawks players.
Due to weak cohesion, no one on the Pistons wanted to cause trouble for Stackhouse.
Don’t expect a stat-padding nuisance to have good relationships in the locker room.
While Pistons’ players hadn’t openly expressed discontent, who wants to team up with someone who takes 30 shots per game with only a 40% hit rate?
Surrounded, Jerry Stackhouse looked at Roger, who was casually walking away.
He intentionally bumped Stackhouse, yet left as though nothing happened, even having his teammates handle the aftermath.
For a time, Jerry Stackhouse felt the humiliation of being bullied with no help and no way to fight back.
Roger fulfilled his word, paying back what had happened to Hornacek!
Andrae Patterson stepped forward again, pressing against Jerry Stackhouse’s chest: “I’m asking you, are you dissatisfied with anything?”
The proud Pistons star since stepping into the Philips Arena clenched his fists, avoiding Andrae Patterson’s fierce gaze.
“No, I’m not dissatisfied with anything.”
Jeff Hornacek walked up, pressing down on the guy who had once caused him disgrace: “Good, thrilled you’ve finally learned respect, dumbass Jerry.”
