Champion Creed -
Chapter 663 - 663 I suggest that from now on until the end of the season you should not believe any bullshit asking for monthly tickets!
663: I suggest that from now on until the end of the season, you should not believe any bullshit (asking for monthly tickets!) 663: I suggest that from now on until the end of the season, you should not believe any bullshit (asking for monthly tickets!) Paul Pierce lay on the hospital bed, slowly opening his eyes.
He no longer remembered how many times he had woken up from the bed.
His eyes felt incredibly heavy, as if opening them consumed all of his strength, which was why he could only stay awake for a short while before falling asleep again.
And each time he woke up, the first thing Pierce did was to pick up his phone smeared with bloodstains, looking through the call log.
Once again, after eagerly searching for a while, Pierce disappointingly put down the phone.
After the incident, Pierce had received many calls, but among all those records, there was not a single one from his biological father, George Pierce.
Pierce was utterly disheartened; even in the moment of life-threatening danger, his father wouldn’t stand by him.
Even at death’s doorstep, he could not gain the paternal love he had always craved.
Pierce felt as if a part of his heart had died.
Paul Pierce yearned for paternal love, even more so than other African American players raised by single mothers.
Unlike those kids who had no idea who their fathers were, Pierce had fully experienced the transition from having a father to fatherlessness.
Before the age of six, he could still feel the warmth of paternal love.
But the year he turned six, his father’s sudden departure caused him tremendous psychological damage.
It’s always like this, losing something always hurts more deeply than never having it at all.
Pierce had always fantasized that the bastard would have a change of heart, but he had never shown up.
The hospital room was empty, with only the cold “beeping” sounds of various machines breaking the terrifying silence.
He was utterly alone in the room, spawning a sense of despairing helplessness.
With these thoughts, Pierce felt his eyelids grow heavy again.
Just as he was about to fall back into sleep, he finally saw someone enter the room.
At this moment, when he most needed company, the first person who hastened to his side appeared.
The last bit of lucidity allowed him to see the face of the visitor.
It wasn’t George Pierce that Pierce had imagined countless times.
It was Roger.
Darkness, endless darkness.
Paul Pierce felt he was engulfed by an endless, borderless void.
He could only faintly hear some voices, two people conversing.
“How the hell did all this happen?”
“He got into a verbal confrontation with a punk in a nightclub.
You know Paul’s nature; he’s always been outspoken.
But this time, he picked the wrong person.
That guy has killed someone at the age of 14, and he was a bit drunk, so he acted impulsively.
Without warning Paul, he just stabbed him with a dagger.
Paul didn’t even have time to react before he was hit on the head with a bottle, and the guy’s two accomplices pulled out knives and started stabbing Paul, not stopping until he lay motionless in a pool of blood.”
Paul had a total of 13 stab wounds.
It all happened so fast, witnesses say the 13 stabs were likely done within 35 seconds.
The wounds stretched from his face, neck, all the way to his sphincter.
One of the stabs pierced his lung and was only 25 millimeters away from his heart.
Although he’s out of life-threatening danger now, I must say, he practically joked with death itself!”
“Wait, the sphincter?” Roger’s tone was filled with surprise.
The doctor was confounded.
Shouldn’t you be concerned about the stab that nearly pierced Pierce’s heart?
Why are you focused on the stab to the sphincter?
“Yes, he was stabbed near the sphincter twice.” Although puzzled, the doctor answered truthfully.
Roger shook his head.
This incident was too far removed from the original history.
Originally this happened during the 2000 off-season and occurred in Boston.
That’s why Roger didn’t warn Pierce ahead of time since Pierce now had nothing to do with Boston.
Yet, he was still stabbed in Los Angeles, and more than the 11 times in the original history, with two extra stabs right on his damn sphincter…
Why stab the sphincter?
Who can tell me the mental state of the attacker at that time?
Pierce was already famous for not being able to hold it, and now with a wounded sphincter, wouldn’t that mean…
“When can he recover?” Roger didn’t dare to continue that line of thought and chose to focus on the present instead.
“His stab wounds are severe, you better prepare for the worst.
According to my advice, he shouldn’t play for this season at all.”
“Thank you, doctor.
I’ll stay with him from now on.”
“You are the first one to arrive at the hospital, Roger.
I think Paul will be very happy to see you when he wakes up.”
With the conversation over, Paul Pierce heard the doctor close the door.
He wanted to open his eyes, but felt very sleepy and sank back into slumber.
When Pierce woke up again, the hospital room had become quiet once more.
Was all of that just a hallucination?
He reached out for his phone habitually but saw Roger lying on the bedside table.
For the first time since being hospitalized, Pierce felt a sense of security.
He was finally not alone in the cold hospital room.
Roger, hearing the noise, opened his eyes and made eye contact with Pierce.
“I told you before, stop being so goddamn outspoken.
How do you feel?”
“Much better.” Pierce’s voice was weak and husky.
“Your family is on the flight here.
They had just settled into their new home in Georgia, and now they have to come back.
Your mother has been living in fear for most of her life, dreading that something like this might happen.
She finally sees her child on the right path, and yet, this happens.
Do you really want her to worry all her life?”
