All of Atlanta, all the basketball fans around the world, were paying attention to tomorrow night’s Game 6.
Roger was under tremendous pressure; he had no way out.
If they lost G6 again, the Pacers would definitely be buoyed.
What G7 would bring was completely unknown.
If there were a G7, things might get out of Roger’s control.
So, in the upcoming G6, Roger had to act like Chen Guilin, eliminating Reggie Miller and his followers one by one.
Tonight, Sofia Vergara had scheduled an interview with Roger.
The location was in Roger’s hotel room.
Tomorrow, sports programs on major TV networks would start the pre-game warm-up a few hours before the game began.
CNN Sports didn’t have the broadcasting rights for the NBA, so they needed this interview to capture the heat wave.
Sofia’s questions were very routine, merely asking “how would you deal with the Pacers’ double-team defense”, “how do you adjust your mindset” and the like.
After the interview, the straightforward Sofia took off her high heels and lay on the suite’s couch: “Can I borrow your couch to rest for a bit?”
“Help yourself.”
“Are you going to take a shower and go to bed now?”
“Tomorrow night is important, Sofia,” Roger said, his tone full of fatigue.
“You look so stressed, you should relax a bit.
Got any liquor?
I’ll join you for a few drinks.”
“You’re right, I should let off some steam.
But drinking is off the table, I never touch alcohol on the eve of a game.”
“You’re really strict.
Well, let’s just chat then.”
“Haven’t we talked enough already?”
“Roger, that was work,” Sofia shifted her posture, crossing her legs, the forbidden areas briefly visible under her professional wrap dress, “now we can do something friends do, like talk about your romantic history.”
“Why are you so interested?” he said as he began picking out clothes for his entrance tomorrow.
“I just want to know if you still stay in touch with your exes, it’s important for me to know,” Sofia said as she walked over to help him choose his outfit for tomorrow.
Roger had picked out a black shirt, slacks, leather shoes, and sunglasses.
It was straight out of the “John Wick” Keanu Reeves playbook.
Though all-black was indeed cool, Sofia felt it was too heavy.
“You should wear something more lively, don’t put psychological pressure on yourself or on your teammates,” she chose a more casual outfit for him, an oversized T-shirt with oversized jeans, like Allen Iverson’s style.
“Fine, can you tell me now why my exes matter so much to you?”
“Hmm…
why don’t you first tell me what danger I’d be in if I were to provoke you again.”
Sofia Vergara said as she wrapped her arms around Roger’s neck, her legs already entwined around his waist.
“Dangers that you can’t even imagine.”
Roger suddenly felt that this wasn’t a bad way to relieve stress.
That night, Sofia’s expression went from enjoyment, to a furrowed brow, to uncontrollably shouting with abandon.
She experienced a complete transition from heaven to hell and then transcended completely.
It was a wonderful experience she had never had before.
However, Sofia indeed proved one thing.
Don’t provoke Roger; it’s very dangerous.
—————–
May 29, Indianapolis, Market Square Arena.
Roger walked into the arena wearing headphones and fully dressed in street-style attire.
His teammates all joked with a laugh, “Hey, someone’s imitating AI here.”
The clothes Sofia helped Roger put together worked, at the very least everyone was still in the mood to joke with Roger.
It must be said, she really is a tough and beautiful woman.
She really solved a lot of problems for Roger.
However, sitting at the commentator’s desk, Magic was not at ease.
“Everyone knows what this game means, the Indiana Pacers will surely go all out, they won’t let the Hawks walk away with a win easily.
Throughout the playoffs, the Hawks have never conquered Market Square Arena, Indianapolis, this city of basketball resists MVP invasions with grit.
No one can take an easy victory from here, not even Roger!” Magic’s colleague Bob Costas spoke up first.
“This is going to be a great game, I have a feeling,” the other commentator Bill Walton was more neutral, his eyes filled with anticipation, he just wanted to see a thrilling contest.
“Magic responded almost defiantly to Bob Costas: “Roger said he’s not playing a Game 7, you all should take that seriously!”
As the players entered the court, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, and basketball fans worldwide sat in front of their TVs.
Those who wanted to see Roger lose and those who wanted to see him win were almost 50/50, but absolutely no one was uninterested in this game.
Such was the draw of Roger now.
Before the game began, reporters interviewed both Reggie Miller and Roger, asking how they viewed each other.
Their answers were very interesting.
Reggie Miller: “I can respect anyone, except Roger.”
Roger: “I don’t respect anyone, including Reggie.”
Now people knew why these two guys were in the Eastern Finals.
They were cut from the same cloth, both stubborn.
Neither team shook hands or hugged each other, and as soon as the referee tossed the ball into the air, both groups jumped right into the rhythm, engaging in a lot of physical contact on defense.
The Pacers’ first offense ended in a miss, as Reggie Miller received the ball and was looking to shoot while Pippen had yet to catch up, testing his own shooting touch in the moment.
