Chained to the Enemy Alpha
Chapter 95: My Responsibility

Chapter 95: Chapter 95: My Responsibility

Everyone froze, eyes darting between their Alpha and the two bloodied warriors on the ground. The silence was deafening. Lily, still perched on Zayn’s back, felt every muscle in his body tense beneath her.

Jett and the others pulled Ragnar and Axel apart. Both of them scrambled to their feet, wiping blood from their faces. Neither spoke, both avoiding Zayn’s piercing gaze.

“I asked a question,” Zayn growled, his patience visibly thinning. “What is going on here?”

Victoria stepped forward, her expression the perfect mask of concern. “I saw what happened, Alpha. Ragnar attacked Axel without provocation.”

Ragnar’s head snapped up. “That’s a lie!”

“It’s not,” Axel countered, spitting blood onto the grass. “He couldn’t accept that his precious Thunder Paw days were over.”

Zayn let out a warning growl that silenced them both. Lily could feel the vibration through her entire body.

“Someone better start telling the truth, now,” Zayn demanded.

Martha stepped forward hesitantly. “Alpha, they were arguing about Luna Lily. Things... escalated.”

Lily’s stomach dropped. She slipped from Zayn’s back, landing softly on the ground beside him. Her hands were shaking as she began to sign, but no one was looking at her.

“Is this true?” Zayn asked the warriors directly.

Axel straightened his shoulders. “I was defending your honor, Alpha. Ragnar questioned your right to handle your mate as you see fit.”

Ragnar’s fists clenched at his sides. “I said what I said. Luna Lily deserves better treatment than—”

“Than what?” Zayn cut him off, stepping closer to Ragnar. “Than what her Alpha decides?”

The tension in the air was suffocating. Lily moved between them, her hands moving frantically as she signed. Only Martha and Jett seemed to notice.

“Luna Lily is trying to speak,” Jett announced, drawing everyone’s attention to her.

‘Please stop,’ Lily signed, her movements quick but clear. ‘This fighting helps no one. We need unity, not division.’

Victoria scoffed. “How convenient that she defends the warrior who was insulting her mate.”

Lily clenched her jaw. But she didn’t stop; she continued to sign. ‘I’m not defending anyone. I’m asking for unity, for understanding.’

“Unity? Understanding?” Victoria laughed coldly. “Your warrior insulted Alpha Zayn! If I recall correctly, that’s punishable by death.”

Blood drained from Lily’s face as she realised the severity of the situation. She looked to Ragnar, who’d been helping her since he’d been assigned to her. He was the warrior she chose. He was her responsibility.

“Are you sure you’re ready to pay the price, Luna Lily?” Victoria scoffed, her grin growing wider.

Lily clenched her fists. She stepped forward and stood her ground. She signed. ‘Ragnar is my responsibility. I’ll accept any punishment.’

“Absolutely not,” Ragnar said as he stepped forward, standing before Lily, “I am not letting you take the fall for me. I created this mess. I will take what punishment Alpha Zayn sees fit.”

Just as Lily was about to defend her decision again, Zayn stepped forward. Victoria was smirking, thinking she’d successfully stirred trouble for Lily. She didn’t realize Zayn was walking to her until the last second.

She gasped when she saw Zayn glaring back at her with flames in his eyes.

“Are you the Alpha. Or am I, Victoria?” He asked in a cold, chilling tone.

Victoria gulped, “You... you are the Alpha, Zayn.”

Zayn watched this exchange with narrowed eyes. “Did I ask for your input on how things are done?”

Victoria’s smile faltered. “I only meant—”

“And I don’t need you to remind me of pack laws.” Zayn cut her off.

The wolves around them shifted uncomfortably, sensing their Alpha’s growing irritation.

Victoria took a step back, her eyes flashing with anger, before she lowered her head in submission. “Of course, Alpha. I apologize.”

As Zayn turned his back on her, Victoria looked up for a moment, quickly finding Lily’s eyes. The smirk she had on her face only lasted a fraction of a second. But Lily knew what it meant. It meant she had won.

Zayn turned back to the fighting warriors and then to Lily. “You said it yourself, Lily. Ragnar is your responsibility, and so is Axel.”

He straightened himself before declaring, “I have made my decision. My decision is for Luna Lily to decide on a suitable punishment for Ragnar and Axel.” free\we,bnovel.c o(m)

Whisper erupted. People were pointing fingers. Lily stood there in complete disbelief, looking at Zayn.

Axel’s jaw dropped. “Alpha, I was defending your honor! I’ve done nothing wrong!”

“You fought with your fellow warrior, “ Zayn replied coldly, taking a step towards him. “You two brawled on the ground like untrained pups! You’ve both failed to carry out your duties and made fools of yourselves.”

Axel bit the inside of his cheek. His head hung low.

“You will take whatever punishment Luna Lily deems fit for your behavior here today.”

Lily stood frozen, the weight of responsibility suddenly crashing down on her shoulders. All eyes were on her, waiting, judging. Her hands trembled as she tried to piece her thoughts together.

She kept pointing at herself before signing other words. But nothing worked.

Zayn noticed her discomfort, watched her struggle. The way her chest rose and fell as if she were hyperventilating. It reminded him of the time he realized what it meant to be an Alpha. The responsibility it entailed.

He had to make tough decisions, and sometimes the consequences of his decisions meant life and death. Still, they followed him.

He walked over to Lily and placed a firm hand on her shoulder. She flinched at his touch but did not move away. He pretended not to notice. She looked up at him, her eyes pleaded with him for help.

“You are the Luna of this pack. This is your responsibility, Lily, “ Zayn’s tone softened as he spoke, “Show them they can put their faith in you.”

Zayn’s words ignited hope in Lily’s heart. She had to be fair, but also firm. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. This was her chance. She was going to prove to all of them, and herself, that she was worthy of the Luna title.
