Chapter 69: Chapter 69 Want to Bully Pei Liyan
Qiao Rui’s cool gaze settled on the distant tea bushes blanketing the hillsides. "We’re here to taste tea, so if no one harbors ill intentions towards us, we needn’t be too concerned."
Song Muyu nodded. "The Factory Manager Huo Sinan found isn’t very impressive."
"Perhaps he’s noticed it too, but a local dragon won’t overwhelm a local snake. He’s employed locals, which naturally has its pros and cons."
"Ruirui, should we remind Huo Sinan?"
"He probably realized it already." Qiao Rui’s expression remained unchanged as she held Little Xingxing’s hand, "We should interfere less with Huo Sinan’s affairs."
Song Muyu seemed to want to say more, but Qiao Rui urged, "Let’s go, it’s time to pick tea."
"Yes, pick tea!"
Two hours later, they had picked a large bag of fresh and tender buds and returned to the Tea Factory.
In the tea room, there was a very experienced elderly tea roaster, Mrs. Peng.
Factory Manager Xu introduced Mrs. Peng to them and asked the old lady to help them roast tea.
When Mrs. Peng saw them, she paused in surprise, marveling, "The two young ladies are really beautiful. This is the first time I’ve ever seen such pretty girls."
After saying that, she glanced at Factory Manager Xu.
Factory Manager Xu said, "Both are Mr. Huo’s guests, old woman, make sure you roast the tea well."
"Sure, Factory Manager, you can rest assured, old woman here will surely satisfy our delicate guests," Mrs. Peng seemed very kind-hearted.
After giving instructions, Old Xu gave Qiao Rui and Song Muyu a meaningful look and walked away with a smile on his face.
Auntie was flying a kite with Little Xingxing outside.
Huo Sinan seemed to have some internal business to attend to, as he was busy.
Qiao Rui and Song Muyu were learning how to roast tea following Mrs. Peng.
"The tea leaves mustn’t have any droplets of water and need to be dry before going into the pan. The main purpose of roasting tea is to remove the moisture from the leaves to bring out the fragrance. You absolutely cannot overcook them. It requires a lot of patience," Mrs. Peng explained as she worked.
Qiao Rui nodded, she already knew all this.
The tea needs to be roasted in a clean pan, free of any oil.
It also requires kneading and frequent stirring to prevent burning.
Periodically, the tea should be taken out to cool, removing any broken fragments, and only when it’s completely dry can it be stored after it has cooled down.
"Without enough patience, nothing can be accomplished, much less done well," Mrs. Peng chuckled and looked at Qiao Rui, "Miss, you seem very composed."
"Thank you for the compliment, Mrs. Peng," Qiao Rui replied with a calm smile. "This is your valuable experience; I’m honored to learn from it."
Mrs. Peng was indeed very skilled and patient at roasting tea; after two hours, the tea leaves turned into top-quality tea.
"Miss, have a taste," the old lady said with a smile. "I have mountain spring water here, I’ll boil some water for you, and you can try the tea you picked yourselves. The taste is truly unique."
"Then we’ll be in your care, Mrs. Peng."
Before long, the old lady boiled the spring water and arranged the exquisite tea set on the tea table.
Indeed, being in a Tea Factory, the tea set was quite distinctive.
Mrs. Peng’s tea-making skills were superb. The way she poured the tea was like cloud and stream, pleasing to the eye.
"It’s ready, you can try it now."
Qiao Rui picked up the tiny tea cup, took a sip, and was greeted by an enchanting aroma and an endless aftertaste.
"Excellent tea!" Qiao Rui praised sincerely.
Mrs. Peng took a cup for herself and also had a taste, "It’s lacking a bit compared to pre-rain tea. Next time, you should both come in the spring!"
"Sure, Mrs. Peng, we’ll come again next spring," Song Muyu said, having taken a sip as well.
Perhaps because they had picked it themselves, they didn’t notice any lack of flavor; instead, they felt a great sense of accomplishment.
By the time they finished their tea, night had fallen.
For dinner, Factory Manager Xu arranged home-style dishes, all characteristic of the tea gardens.
After a satisfying meal of food and drink, the group headed back to the hotel.
Old Xu saw them out, his gaze still bright and amazed as he looked at Qiao Rui and Song Muyu.
Huo Sinan gave him a sidelong glance, but Director Xu did not hold back; instead, he chuckled twice, his smile impeccable, "Mr. Huo, please drive safely on your way."
Huo Sinan’s brows lifted slightly, his face acquiring a hint of icy sharpness.
This Director Xu had decent management skills, but he had caused public outrage at the Tea Factory, which was infuriating.
Huo Sinan had considered replacing him, but had not yet found a suitable person. Now, seeing Director Xu look at Ruirui and Song Muyu the way he did, Huo Sinan felt compelled to replace him.
After seeing Qiao Rui and the others to the hotel and making sure that Song Muyu had gone to rest, Huo Sinan and Lei Ting returned to the Tea Factory.
Qiao Rui put Little Xingxing to sleep, then handed the child to the nanny.
While holding the child, she felt something was not right with her body.
There was a hot sensation, just like on the day of the art festival when she drank something unclean, the same kind of feeling.
But why would she feel like this today?
Qiao Rui kept a calm front, wanting to take the child to the room, then hurry back to her own room for a cold shower.
Who would have thought, just after bringing the child to their room and preparing to return to hers, she started to feel dizzy.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the hallway, Pei Liyan had just stepped out of the elevator, ready to return to his room, and ran into Qiao Rui right there in the corridor.
He had a cold look on his face, his eyes straight ahead.
Seeing him, Qiao Rui suddenly remembered the passionate night they had shared.
Suddenly, her body swayed, and she staggered to the side.
Pei Liyan reacted quickly and steadied her.
Upon touching the man’s arm, Qiao Rui immediately swallowed.
The man then glanced at her, and upon noticing her flushed cheeks, he was startled, "What’s wrong with you?"
Qiao Rui glared at him, why was he so nosy? Why was he holding onto her?
Because of their contact, Qiao Rui nearly lost her senses.
Her feelings for this man, under the influence of the drug, were indescribable.
She did not want to repeat what happened last time.
"It’s none of your business!" Qiao Rui said coldly.
She attempted to pull away from his arm.
But Pei Liyan’s piercing gaze locked onto the girl’s brows and eyes, his own eyes inquisitive; he sensed something was amiss.
His gaze hardened, and he asked in a low voice, "Did you drink something unclean?"
Qiao Rui’s head buzzed, and she responded sharply, "Let me go!"
Pei Liyan looked at her, then surveyed the entire hallway, and asked in a stern tone, "Did Huo Sinan give it to you?"
Qiao Rui didn’t have time to think it through, but she felt that Huo Sinan didn’t have the guts; the problem must be with the Tea Factory.
Seeing her frown and remain silent, Pei Liyan’s eyes swept over her fair and delicate face, which was as alluring as a lotus.
Although his eyes carried a fierceness, they seemed as if they could ensnare someone, causing Pei Liyan to involuntarily swallow.
Qiao Rui said again, "Let go, do you hear me?"
He said sternly, "I won’t feel at ease letting you go now. Either I take you to the hospital, or you take a cold shower first."
Overwhelmed by heat, Qiao Rui completely lost her reason; she gasped and collapsed.
Pei Liyan caught her in his arms, and without further thought, carried her into his room.
Being held up by him, Qiao Rui felt better and just wanted to lean on him.
Her hand naturally wrapped around the man’s neck.
The door closed with a bang.
Holding her, the man looked down at her pale neck, his eyes flashing with a multitude of emotions.
Qiao Rui had a feeling that she couldn’t escape, she wanted to torment Pei Liyan...
