Chapter 350: Chapter 350: Make whoever wants it regret it
"Yes!" The security guards, seeing the situation, quickly stepped forward and carried Qiao Junxian away.
Qiao Junxian cursed and shouted, "You despicable woman! How dare you hit me? Just you wait!"
Gai Yin stepped forward and blocked their path.
Qiao Junxian was startled by her. "You... You’re planning to hit me again?"
"President Qiao, I studied statistics. I will verify your messy accounts one by one. We’ll undoubtedly cross paths again soon." Gai Yin said calmly, "I would be only too happy to welcome President Qiao at any time and see how you’ll ’make me suffer’."
Her voice was particularly clear and resonant, making sure everyone present heard her words distinctly.
Everyone’s expressions became complicated.
Could two women really turn the Qiao Family around?
Being a hero wasn’t supposed to work this way.
The security guards carried Qiao Junxian away.
The president’s office quieted down.
Elder Qiao glanced at Qiao Junxian’s assistant, Li Chongming, and said, "Your work has been quite unsatisfactory. I asked you to assist Qiao Junxian—what exactly did you do?"
The forty-something Li Chongming truly had no defense. Instead of explaining, he bowed deeply and said, "I’m sorry, Chairman. I failed to assist President Qiao properly. It’s all my fault."
Elder Qiao replied coldly, "Forget it. At this point, it’s too late to say anything. You’re fired."
Li Chongming froze, wanting to say something. His mouth opened, but he swallowed back the words.
"Understood." In the end, he said nothing.
Qiao Rui glanced at him and said, "Chairman, I’d like to keep Assistant Li."
This statement made not only Elder Qiao pause but also Li Chongming, who looked at Qiao Rui in disbelief.
Qiao Rui surveyed the room and said, "First, I won’t be at the Qiao Family for very long. Once the project is completed, I may leave. I don’t have the time to find others to handle the work all over again.
Second, I believe most of these people are diligent and hardworking. However, sometimes decision-makers’ ideas leave them no choice but to execute passively.
Third, I need them to follow procedures and work systematically, so the project can proceed without delays."
After hearing her reasoning, Elder Qiao gave Qiao Rui a meaningful look. "Since you’ll be acting president, the decisions are yours to make. Naturally, you’ll bear the consequences alone."
"Understood!" Qiao Rui nodded slightly.
Elder Qiao turned to Li Chongming and said, "Hurry up and clear out the president’s office for the new president."
Li Chongming nodded, his expression complex as he glanced briefly at Elder Qiao and Qiao Rui before turning and going into the office to pack.
Qiao Rui and Elder Qiao followed him in.
The expressions of those in the president’s office were equally complicated as they looked at Qiao Rui, but none of them said a word.
Qiao Rui said, "Just continue doing your work."
No one responded.
Qiao Rui and Elder Qiao entered the president’s office.
Undeniably, the office was decorated luxuriously and elegantly, with the furniture being of the finest quality.
Qiao Rui took only a brief glance but found it excessively indulgent.
Qiao Junxian indeed knew how to enjoy life—and so did Qiao Xiang.
To pursue Pei Liyan, she even spent lavishly to purchase a villa next to his.
Such extravagance ran in the family—they all knew how to enjoy life.
Li Chongming tidied up the office and said to Qiao Rui, "President Qiao, would you like to use the former president’s desk or replace it with a new one?"
Qiao Rui gave it a glance and said, "I’ll use the one Uncle used before. Pack up his belongings—once the audit is done, return what should be returned to him."
"Understood!" Li Chongming nodded.
Qiao Rui added, "Assistant Li, this is my assistant Gai Yin. Henceforth, you’ll coordinate with her. Next, guide Gai Yin outside to get familiar with the situation. I need to speak with the chairman."
"Understood!" They promptly exited.
The president’s office was left with just Qiao Rui and Elder Qiao.
Qiao Rui said, "Thank you, Grandpa."
"Thank me for what?" Elder Qiao looked at her.
"Thank you for giving me the chance to play the good guy." Qiao Rui smiled, "You were going to fire them and play the villain. That left me the space to appear merciful, balancing authority and kindness from the start, which will help me manage relationships later."
Elder Qiao raised an eyebrow, his gaze becoming slightly nuanced as he looked at her and sighed, "If you were a boy, I’d hand everything over to you."
"Give me a break. I don’t want it." Qiao Rui waved her hand dismissively. "Your mess is worth less to me than our village’s two acres of farmland."
Elder Qiao sighed, too tired to argue. "Since you understand my intentions, focus on the task. I hope you can turn things around—this may be my last hope."
Qiao Rui could sense the complexity in Elder Qiao’s emotions, and she nodded slightly. "I understand, Grandpa."
"At the meeting later, I’ll announce that you’re succeeding Qiao Junxian and taking over the Qiao Family," Elder Qiao said. "Prepare yourself. Once the announcement is made, I’ll leave."
"Alright, Grandpa."
Perhaps due to the incident where Qiao Junxian had been thrown over someone’s shoulder, when Elder Qiao announced the succession during the meeting, no one said a word. Nonetheless, their gazes toward Qiao Rui carried layers of complexity and hostility.
Qiao Rui calmly accepted it all, looking back at everyone.
Whoever stared at her would receive her unyielding gaze in return until they silently lowered their heads.
After the meeting was adjourned, Elder Qiao departed.
Qiao Rui glanced at her watch—it was 10:30 AM.
She hadn’t forgotten her lunch appointment with Liang Jinqian from last night. Checking the time again, she called Gai Yin back.
"Sister Yin, how’s it going?" Qiao Rui looked at her. In private settings, she still addressed her as Sister Yin.
"There are seventeen staff members in the president’s office: eight secretaries, one personal assistant—Li Chongming, four in logistics, two receptionists, and two coordinators."
Qiao Rui frowned slightly. "That many secretaries?"
"There’s definitely an overstaffing issue." Gai Yin said, "I also think cutting the number in half would be sufficient."
Qiao Rui nodded. "It’s not the time yet—observe first."
"Understood." Gai Yin nodded.
"Contact the auditors and have them bring the team over. Let them start reviewing the accounts and report back to me." Qiao Rui said, "I need to step out around noon and won’t return until about 2 PM."
"Please be careful when you head out!" Gai Yin reminded her.
"Don’t worry—Huang Ying will be with me." Qiao Rui chuckled. "Keep yourself busy."
She got up and left.
As she stepped out of the president’s office, Qiao Rui noticed someone was watching her. A cold, oppressive gaze swept sharply in that direction.
The person immediately lowered their head—it was a secretary in their thirties.
Qiao Rui raised an eyebrow but didn’t utter a word, heading toward the elevator.
"President Qiao." Li Chongming called out.
Qiao Rui turned back to look at him.
Li Chongming met her gaze, his expression complex but with a hint of gratitude. "President Qiao, I have a few words I’d like to share with you."
