Chapter 283: Chapter 283: You Are Not My Type
"Don’t," Si Ran flatly refused, but she didn’t notice that her voice was trembling.
He Zheng’s dark eyes were fixated on Si Ran’s, filled with a unique intensity, and his hand at her waist tightened, causing her pain.
As she refused, she even felt his dominance and directness which did not wane despite her rejection.
And under such implications, Si Ran felt that He Zheng was a seasoned player in the field of love, and she was a novice, no match for him.
But she refused nonetheless.
Because she knew, there are some things that should not be touched.
Silence held for several seconds, as if time had stopped at that moment, suffocating in its stillness.
Eventually, He Zheng raised his eyebrows, then let out a sigh as if a bit helpless. "What a surprise, Si Ran, you make me doubt my own charm, as if it’s not enough to attract a woman!"
"How could that be?" Si Ran tried to keep her composure: "President He’s charm is unmatched, and still very appealing to women."
"But it doesn’t include you, does it? That’s quite a blow to me," He Zheng’s tone was indecipherable, almost petulant, as if he truly regretted it.
Si Ran sighed in her heart, was he testing her or toying with her?
Why was he deliberately saying these things? What was his purpose?
She was no match for him.
"I am not a woman," Si Ran opened her mouth to say, "President He need not doubt your charm."
"Not a woman?" He Zheng was momentarily taken aback, then abruptly his hand reached out: "I’ll check for myself; you don’t look like a man either."
With that, he started to feel around Si Ran’s body, indeed checking.
But through this blatant excuse, he also gave Si Ran a thorough touch.
Si Ran’s face flushed with a mix of shame and annoyance as she yelled softly, "President He, what are you doing? Stop, don’t touch me."
When He Zheng’s hand reached the edge of Si Ran’s suit dress, he stopped and said, "Seems like you’re not a man, indeed!"
"No, that’s not what I meant!" Si Ran exclaimed: "Of course, I am a woman, but I have no feminine allure, not your type, please spare me, President He."
Suddenly, He Zheng laughed.
When those eyes smiled, they were flirtatious.
His slightly raised eyebrows did not come off as frivolous but added a lazy charm to him that made his entire demeanor seem relaxed and incredibly sexy.
Moreover, his gaze seemed thoughtful, his lips curved upwards slightly, revealing a hint of a smile, which made him sparkle with a vibrant and carefree luster.
Overwhelmed by his laughter, Si Ran quickly diverted her gaze.
He Zheng’s voice rang out: "What to do, Si Ran, I’ve suddenly discovered I’m very interested in you, you know, no one has ever rejected me!"
Si Ran was taken aback—a lack of rejections didn’t mean she couldn’t be the first.
"So, the more you reject me, the more intrigued I become." He Zheng smiled, "Consider it, would you like to be with me?"
"Ah?" Si Ran let out a startled cry.
She was frightened.
She thought she had made her point very clear, but He Zheng brought it up directly this time, making her feel as if a paper barrier had been punctured.
Future encounters would undoubtedly be awkward.
"President He, stop flirting with me, I really am not your match," Si Ran said seriously, her gaze turning cool.
He Zheng smiled slightly, "Is that the truth?"
Si Ran nodded vigorously.
He Zheng laughed again: "You dare not even look me in the eyes, and yet you say it’s the truth; why does it seem to me that you are a bit guilty?"
Because they were so close, his breath was hot on her face.
In her fluster, she looked into his eyes again.
Her heart raced; he had good skin, a smooth face, deep eyes, a fine and straight nose, and red lips that made him look extremely handsome and clear.
Without a doubt, he was a man of outstanding features.
She indeed couldn’t help but appreciate his looks and, of course, his personality.
The only thing she couldn’t accept was his flirtatious nature.
They were not of the same world.
Even if he said now they should be together, it would just be a fling, like those other women he had been with.
She’s not that kind of woman; she can’t handle the game.
"There’s nothing to be nervous about." Si Ran’s eyes cleared up, and when she looked at He Zheng again, her gaze was only calm: "We are not the same kind of people, not suitable to play together."
"So, are you rejecting me?" He Zheng raised an eyebrow.
Si Ran nodded seriously, "Yes, President He, I am rejecting you."
He Zheng’s eyes tightened, and after watching her for a long while, he suddenly smiled and released the hand that was clamping her waist.
Then he said, "It’s just a joke, don’t take it seriously."
Si Ran was taken aback.
He Zheng added, "Secretary Si really has strong self-control, but my charm really isn’t working, huh? Can’t bewitch you."
Si Ran was stunned; so it really was just a joke.
Fortunately, she hadn’t taken it seriously.
But, her face turned red, not with shyness, but with annoyance.
He actually dared to flirt with her like that.
"I didn’t take it seriously." Si Ran spoke flatly, her beautiful voice devoid of any warmth: "I’ve known all along that President He likes to seduce girls. I’ve seen it today; it’s indeed easy to be charming, but you’re just not my type."
The moment she finished speaking, Si Ran opened the door and walked out.
He Zheng’s pupils shrank several times, and his fist clenched tight with a bit of irritation.
Si Ran stood with her back to him, her spine straight, no trace of a smile on her face.
Just then, Qiao Rui came out of the room and was startled by the aura on Si Ran’s face.
"Si Ran, are you feeling unwell?" Qiao Rui asked.
Si Ran paused, then immediately shook her head: "No, madam. Just that, early in the morning, President He made a joke with me."
Qiao Rui was speechless for a moment, then said, "With a bit of color?"
Si Ran nodded her head, then shook it. "Not really."
Qiao Rui could see that Si Ran’s complexion wasn’t good, she was quite embarrassed, acknowledging the personal matter was already showing much face.
She didn’t press further, to avoid making Si Ran embarrassed and uncomfortable.
"Don’t you feel that he actually treats you differently?"
Si Ran paused, shaking her head. "I don’t feel it."
"A man, if not interested, wouldn’t even bother to flirt. But He Zheng, he’s a good person, just not sincere in matters of love. You’d better be careful," Qiao Rui said, then patted her on the shoulder.
"Madam!" Si Ran looked at Qiao Rui in surprise, suddenly realizing that Qiao Rui was incisive, her words hitting the nail on the head. "I’ll take the lesson."
Qiao Rui gave her a small smile: "Let’s go, time to eat."
"Okay."
But at that moment, He Zheng’s room door suddenly opened.
He was still wearing his pajamas. Seeing Qiao Rui, he said, "Sister-in-law, I have to thank you for thinking I’m not bad, for not dismissing me entirely."
So, he had overheard.
Qiao Rui wasn’t embarrassed but spoke calmly: "I’m just telling it as it is, no need for courtesy, Mr. He, do try to be a good person."
He Zheng: "...."
Qiao Rui added, "No, be a good man."
"Let Pei Liyan be a good man." He Zheng couldn’t hold back a retort.
Just then, Pei Liyan came out and heard it too.
Immediately, his handsome face darkened.
He Zheng coughed to cover his guilt, "Well, I’m going to change clothes and have breakfast. You guys wait for my order."
Qiao Rui nodded her head and sighed: "I really didn’t expect that Pei Liyan isn’t considered a good man in his buddy’s heart."
"Sister-in-law, are you doing this on purpose? I haven’t offended you, have I?" He Zheng complained.
Qiao Rui smiled and said, "You haven’t offended me, but I did it on purpose indeed."
He Zheng: "...."
