Chapter 228: Chapter 228: I Misjudged You

Song Xun’s face darkened instantly when she talked to him like that, eyes narrowing as he looked at Song Muyu with her chin slightly raised.

Right now, she resembled a little lion ready to pounce, ready to bite at any moment.

"Forget it, say whatever you want," Song Xun managed to suppress the chill in his voice, seemingly exhausted, he softly said, "He Zheng’s sister, you better not provoke her, she is the darling daughter of the He Family."

"Yes," Song Muyu replied indifferently, "She is so adored, the whole world has to adore her."

People born with silver spoons always trample on others’ dignity so easily, and they, she thought, simply deserve to be bullied and silenced.

Having the power to fight back, yet still being warned.

A sigh of frustration arose in Song Muyu’s heart. She hadn’t even had her family step in yet, but she was warned not to lay a hand on the arrogant Miss He.

It was too bullying.

Seeing her attitude, Song Xun knew she was defiant.

Dark clouds gathered again on his face, his eyes sharp and cold, he said sternly, "Are you so sour because you feel unloved?"

Song Muyu scoffed sarcastically. "I wouldn’t dare. If there’s nothing else, Brother, I’ll leave first!"

After saying that, she didn’t want to speak another word to Song Xun and turned to leave.

Song Xun followed and caught up, grabbing her wrist, only to be forcefully shaken off by her alert defense.

Song Xun was startled, thoughtfully watching Song Muyu as he said coldly, "What’s gotten into you?"

"Don’t touch me," Song Muyu hissed each word forcefully.

Song Xun narrowed his eyes at her, "Huh!"

Song Muyu found his persistent annoyance bothersome. He shouldn’t be doing this; he was already engaged to Shen Shuyi today, he shouldn’t bother her anymore.

And she no longer had the courage to go all out with him.

He wasn’t worth it.

Song Muyu gave a bitter smile, her gaze met Song Xun’s cold eyes, and without a trace of fear on her indifferent face, she said coldly, "The person you are now truly disgusts me."

Song Xun’s body shook as he stared at Song Muyu in astonishment.

Song Muyu didn’t avoid his gaze, and once again said clearly, "Unable to pick up, unable to let go, Song Xun, I misjudged you."

Misjudged him and misloved him.

After these words, Song Muyu turned around and left, decisively, without a backward glance or a trace of reluctance.

But in her eyes, a moist trace of tears lingered.

Qi Yun came up to her and helped her away.

Song Xun stared at her departing figure, frozen in place, motionless for a long time.

Meanwhile, He Lan and Qiao Xiang were still in tears.

He Lan was crying a storm.

As soon as Qi Yun left, she started crying, hugging He Zheng, burying her head in his chest, weeping uncontrollably, dampening He Zheng’s suit.

He Zheng was both angry and speechless.

"What on earth happened, explain clearly."

He Lan shook her head, crying even harder.

He Zheng reprimanded sternly, "This is an engagement ceremony, what are you wailing for?"

Only then did He Lan somewhat calm herself, still crying profusely.

"That Qi Yun, she was terrifying."

"How was she terrifying?" He Zheng pressed.

"She, she, she had a dagger, and it almost stabbed my face, just a little bit, it passed right by my face and stuck into the restroom door," He Lan sobbed quietly.

Qiao Xiang also nodded, the thought alone was frightening.

"If that dagger had been plunged into her face, her life would have been ruined."

She had carefully observed Qi Yun, who remained expressionless as she took the dagger from the door and threw it toward Qiao Xiang’s face, narrowly missing her cheek and embedding it in the opposite door panel.

She did nothing else, just those two actions, but they were enough to astound both He Lan and Qiao Xiang.

He Lan was even more frightened.

She had never been so terrified in her life.

It was then that He Zheng pieced together what had happened from their conversation. He furrowed his brows and said to He Lan, "I told you to keep your mouth shut and not to stir up trouble. You didn’t listen, and now you see how serious this is, don’t you?"

He Zheng was well aware that his sister, being pampered usually did not take anything or anyone seriously. Today, she had encountered a formidable person.

That Qi Yun was so formidable.

She was with Song Muyu.

She had a network of connections such that even the Qingcheng He Family was beneath her notice.

"It’s terrifying." Qiao Xiang also shook her head, her legs still trembling.

"Don’t stir up trouble anymore." He Zheng told Qiao Xiang and He Lan, "Qiao Xiang, take He Lan back first. Just sit there quietly and don’t cause any more trouble."

Taken aback, Qiao Xiang didn’t say anything. She just took He Lan by the arm and led her away.

Si Ran also prepared to leave.

He Zheng said in a deep voice, "Secretary Si, wait a moment. I have something to tell you."

Si Ran paused and looked up at him with some confusion, "President He, what do you want to say to me?"

As Qiao Xiang led He Lan away, she inadvertently looked back and saw the two of them standing together, frowning.

She was puzzled and took a longer look before leading He Lan away.

He Zheng looked down at Si Ran from a superior angle, his tone displeased, "Secretary Si, aren’t you adept at handling all kinds of crises and conflicts? How come today you find yourself with no role to play?"

Si Ran was stunned, not expecting He Zheng to talk to her about this.

Was he displeased with her?

Si Ran pursed her lips and said softly, "President He is always tactful and more than competent. Since you couldn’t persuade Miss He, how could I, a mere secretary, manage?"

On hearing this, He Zheng frowned deeply, "Si Ran, do you have grievances against me?"

Si Ran shook her head. "President He is mistaken. I have no grievances against you at all."

"Then why do I feel that you despise me?" He Zheng countered.

Si Ran lowered her gaze. "President He might be mistaken."

He Zheng frowned, "Si Ran, what I meant was, given our relationship, you should know whose side to be on when necessary."

Si Ran paused, her lips pressed even tighter.

Suddenly, He Zheng leaned closer.

Si Ran was startled, a magnified handsome face before her, truly disarming.

She instinctively stepped back, avoiding He Zheng’s breath.

Seeing her react so strongly, he chuckled.

"I’m not a tiger, why so frightened?"

Si Ran gave an awkward smile.

He Zheng spoke, "Come, tell me what’s on your mind. What do you think about today’s incident?"

In a low voice, Si Ran replied, "President He has unique insights. You must have your judgment about today’s incident, so I won’t offer my unnecessary opinions."

He Zheng snorted lightly, "Si Ran, you’re really no fun. Can’t you share what’s truly on your mind?"

Si Ran felt a sting in her heart and softly said, "I wouldn’t mind opening up to President He, only if President He were willing to reciprocate."
