Chapter 171: Chapter 171 From Now On, You’re Only Allowed to Bully Me

Qiao Rui felt the man’s eyes blaze with a sudden intensity, as if a raging fire had filled his gaze.

She inwardly felt a sense of alarm, such flirtation was not good.

If she hadn’t misunderstood, this situation was exactly the precursor to a kiss.

She looked at the man before her, confused, but saw that he made no further moves. He just stared at her for a few seconds, then reached out to pull her seatbelt over her and clicked it into place.

Her face flushed; it was just the seatbelt.

It seemed she had overthought it.

Qiao Rui felt embarrassed and ashamed for letting her thoughts run wild.

Yet, the man continued to gaze deeply into her face for a moment, and when he saw her eyes cast downward, the corners of his lips curved in a smirk, as if he had seen right through Qiao Rui’s fleeting thoughts.

He stepped back and closed the car door for her.

In an instant, Qiao Rui felt the air clear around her.

She silently breathed a sigh of relief.

Looking over, the man was already circling the front of the car to enter the driver’s side.

As soon as he sat down, Qiao Rui averted her eyes, looking out of the car window.

Pei Liyan cast a casual glance at her and said, "We’re going shopping."

"Oh," she replied haphazardly.

The man started the car, and neither of them spoke again.

Qiao Rui took out a wet wipe to clean her hands, getting ready to snack.

Just as she was about to open the snacks, she remembered something and turned to the man beside her, "Can I eat snacks in your car?"

Pei Liyan’s eyes flashed, "Sure, I’m not that particular."

"Oh, thank you," Qiao Rui tore open the shrimp chips package, ready to start eating.

Not that particular?

Who would believe that; she hadn’t forgotten the taboos when she first entered his territory. Even Qiao Yufei had used his bedroom bathroom once, and he had it redecorated.

His quirks were quite telling.

Qiao Rui pursed her lips and stuffed the shrimp chips into her mouth, munching away like a little mouse.

Pei Liyan watched her eat with relish and frowned slightly, "Didn’t you eat enough at home?"

"It was okay," Qiao Rui said.

"You’re hungry after just an hour?"

"Meals are meals, snacks are snacks," Qiao Rui explained. "It’s not the same feeling at all; eating meals is about living, snacking is for leisure."

"Heh!" It was the first time the man had heard such an odd excuse, and he couldn’t help but chuckle.

Qiao Rui turned to look at him.

His profile was sharply defined, and when he smiled gently, the corners of his lips curved, warming his whole face by a few degrees. His features seemed softer than before, lively and compelling, prompting a second glance.

Pei Liyan, noticing Qiao Rui looking at him, turned his head to meet her gaze.

They had just arrived at the hospital entrance, ready to leave and pay for parking.

As he queued to park, he naturally took another look at Qiao Rui.

"Is the snack so delicious that it’s entertaining?" He observed her radiant smile, his gaze shifting to the shrimp chips in her hands. "Is the allure of this snack that great?"

His eyes landed on the shrimp chips in her hands, and Qiao Rui noticed a glint in his eyes, as if he really wanted to try some.

She offered, "Of course, would you like some?"

"Sure, I’ll try out this leisurely taste," he didn’t refuse and opened his mouth slightly.

Qiao Rui blinked; he wanted her to feed him.

She pursed her lips, hesitating a few seconds, but still brought the shrimp chip to the man’s mouth.

As he bit into the chip, whether intentional or not, he also caught her delicate fingers with his lips.

The tender, soft contact on her fingers made Qiao Rui freeze, feeling a current surge from the man’s lips to her fingertips in that moment.

In that instant, it was as if she had been electrified.

Her scalp tingled, and her limbs grew numb from the touch.

Her face also became unbearably hot.

In an instant, the atmosphere inside the car took on a sensuous, ambiguous air.

A rich scent emanated from both of them.

It seemed as though Pei Liyan had noticed Qiao Rui’s reaction, for he lifted his gaze to meet hers, and amidst her eager watch, he gently took the shrimp chip in his mouth, slowly releasing her fingers.

Qiao Rui immediately retracted her hand in fright.

It felt as though her fingers had been electrocuted, still hot and burning.

She immediately put her hand back into the snack bag and grabbed another shrimp chip, intending to stuff it into her mouth to hide her embarrassment.

But Pei Liyan’s deep, magnetic voice rang out again, "Another one."

Her hand, clutching the shrimp chip, stiffened, and she had no choice but to deliver a second one into the man’s mouth.

Again, just like before, his lips brushed against her fingertips.

Soft, warm.

Her body stiffened even more; she rapidly adjusted her emotions to hide how awkward she felt.

"Tastes good, doesn’t it?" she said, changing the subject.

"Delicious," Pei Liyan replied meaningfully, "The flavor is quite nice, indeed very entertaining."

Qiao Rui always felt that there was more to the man’s words than just the taste of shrimp chips.

But she had no evidence and dared not overthink it.

Who knew what this man was thinking?

"Then I’ll share with you," Qiao Rui said with a smile, acting very generous.

At that moment, the car ahead finished paying the fee and left through the hospital’s main gate.

Pei Liyan drove forward a bit, rolled down the window, paid the fee, handed over a banknote, and said, "No change needed."

He was indeed generous, surprising the toll gate attendant.

Once the window was up and the car exited the hospital gates,

Qiao Rui continued to feed Pei Liyan shrimp chips, his lips touching her fingers each time, leaving her face flushed all the way.

Upon reaching the mall’s parking lot, the man parked the car, then turned to look at the girl beside him, noting the thin layer of blush covering her fair skin and raising an eyebrow slightly.

Without a change in expression, he said, "I still want to eat, but we’ve arrived."

Qiao Rui replied, "Then I’ll buy some for you later, and you can eat them on your own."

Pei Liyan unbuckled his seatbelt and leaned slightly towards her, his large frame imposing.

"I don’t feel like eating by myself."

Instinctively, Qiao Rui tried to move towards the car door.

However, the man quickly grasped her arm.

He was so close that she could clearly smell her own light fragrance on him, a familiar and alluring scent of purity and innocence, irresistibly tempting.

"What is it?" Qiao Rui’s voice was hoarse.

"Just now in the hospital, did you see Qiao Xiang?" Pei Liyan asked, looking at her.

Qiao Rui was taken aback, then nodded, not understanding why he was asking this now.

"Yes, I ran into her."

"That was when I called you, wasn’t it?" he pressed.

So that was why Qiao Rui had seemed a bit off.

But she hadn’t mentioned a word.

"Yeah, what about it?" she asked, puzzled.

Pei Liyan’s gaze drifted over Qiao Rui’s face before he finally said, "Were you bullied?"

Qiao Rui’s eyes widened, then she laughed, "Do I look like someone easy to bully?"

Pei Liyan’s eyes flickered, and he said deliberately, "Hmm, so, don’t let anyone bully you in the future, only me!"
