Chapter 150: Chapter 150: The Reserved and Seductive Man

Mr. Song Xun couldn’t help but snort coldly as she provoked him; his gaze fell upon her face, which was indeed swollen and red, grotesquely distorted from its original fair and delicate beauty.

His eyes tightened, a flash of distress bursting forth from within.

But it was only for a moment, that tenderness vanished in an instant.

The next second, mocking words were spoken coldly from his mouth, "Fall in love with you? Ha, only a fool would obsess over love. I don’t need love, and I’ll never fall for you in this lifetime."

Song Muyu knew he would say something like that.

She had never harbored any illusions that he would fall in love with her.

How could he possibly fall in love with her?

She had only asked the question on purpose, to make him leave the room.

"That’s right, you’ve confirmed I’ve fallen for you, so you bully me to your heart’s content, thinking I can be bullied at any time, that whenever you want to touch me, I should just open my arms to welcome you!"

"No, you’re wrong!" Mr. Song Xun moved slightly closer, his tone even colder, "It’s legs!"

A twist of pain clutched her heart suddenly, almost suffocatingly so.

Song Muyu swallowed the humiliating words.

She sneered sarcastically, "Then you’re wrong too; true to your words, if I’m the public relations type, welcoming you, then naturally I welcome others as well."

In an instant, the atmosphere in the entire bathroom plummeted to freezing.

What were warm streams of water now felt ice-cold.

Mr. Song Xun said no more, beginning his kingly conquest.

Song Muyu found herself caught between a fiery passion and icy rejection.

In front of her was the icy wall, and behind her was the warm and solid Mr. Song Xun.

He tortured her with every method he could think of.

He wanted her to lose all reason.

And she did lose all reason because of him.

In the final moment, when she was completely unguarded, he leaned close to her ear and asked in a low voice, "Was it Ruirui’s people who saved you and brought you back to Liancheng?"

"Hmm?" Song Muyu was dazed.

Then, in an instant, she snapped back to reality, turning her head to look at Mr. Song Xun behind her.

His eyes were clear, devoid of any emotion.

While she, tormented by him, had lost all reason.

She suddenly understood that this was still his goal.

She had known his intentions all along, hadn’t she?

Just that she was still hoping otherwise, which is perhaps the tragedy of a woman caught in emotions.

Song Muyu silently cursed herself.

The next second, she suddenly struggled with all her might.

Mr. Song Xun hadn’t expected her to have such strength and was pushed away by her.

He narrowed his eyes, looking down at her with utmost mockery, "Satisfied?"

Song Muyu snorted coldly, "Yes, that was satisfying; you’re indeed better than the top hunks at the nightclubs!"

Mr. Song Xun’s body tensed, and then, like striking his Achilles’ heel, his bloodthirsty expression darkened instantly, as if he could barely resist devouring her on the spot.

Song Muyu slightly tilted her chin up, defiantly looking at him.

Mr. Song Xun swung his sleeve, grabbed his clothes, and left.

After he was gone,

and she was left alone in the room, Song Muyu then slumped down against the wall, sitting on the edge of the bathtub.

Her tears fell pit-a-pat, a heart-wrenching sorrow overwhelmed her.

Outside,

Mr. Song Xun, drenched and disheveled, stepped out of Song Muyu’s room, only to see in the corridor.

Mr. Pei Liyan and Qiao Rui stood by their door, as if waiting for him.

Seeing their posture, Song Xun’s gaze swept over the two of them, his eyebrows raised slightly. When he noticed Qiao Rui’s swollen and reddened lips, he almost imperceptibly twitched an eyebrow.

Qiao Rui, catching the subtle movement in his eyes, spoke up directly, "Mr. Song, have you been caught in the rain?"

Song Xun could detect the mockery in her tone.

His eyes flickered before he responded lightly, "Miss Rui’s lipstick shade is quite nice."

Qiao Rui jumped, that damn man—could he actually tell? He was clearly mocking her on purpose.

Who was Qiao Rui? She wasn’t going to be easily stumped by a few words.

So, she smiled faintly and said, "I should thank Mr. Pei for that; the lipstick he gave me is indeed nice."

Most women would probably blush and feel embarrassed when subtly mocked.

But not Qiao Rui—instead, she readily caught the challenge thrown at her and threw it back, elevating the game.

Song Xun was taken aback by her comment and turned his gaze towards Pei Liyan.

Pei Liyan, after glancing at Song Xun, probably hadn’t expected Song Xun to emerge from Song Muyu’s room in such an awkward state.

He hooked his arm around Qiao Rui’s shoulder, drawing her close, and said to Song Xun, "Brother Song, the rain is quite heavy. Take a hot bath and get some early rest. Good night."

"Good night," Song Xun nodded slightly.

Pei Liyan then entered her room again, with Qiao Rui in tow.

Qiao Rui shook off his hand and said, "If you want to talk, talk—don’t get handsy."

Pei Liyan walked over, sat down on the sofa, and leaned back casually, smiling at her, "Do you like the natural lipstick I gave you?"

Qiao Rui scoffed, "Yeah, thanks for that. But you should thank me too—your lipstick isn’t bad either, bright lips and white teeth. Mr. Pei, you look lovely!"

Though she was mocking him, Pei Liyan laughed softly and didn’t mind, only staring back at her with a patient expression, "I told you not to go out earlier, but you insisted. Running into that was disrespectful to the host."

"Why should I respect the host?" Qiao Rui glanced at Pei Liyan. "My friend is being bullied; I’m so angry I could kill him."

"Then why didn’t you kill him just now?"

"Why do I have to explain myself to you?" Qiao Rui rolled her eyes at him.

Pei Liyan felt a constriction in his chest as she spoke so boldly. He snorted lightly, "You didn’t kill Song Xun because you were worried about upsetting Song Muyu."

With an exasperated laugh, Qiao Rui retorted, "You know it and yet you say it—what’s wrong with you?"

Pei Liyan gazed at Qiao Rui and said, "You don’t comfort Song Muyu because you know that if you did, she might feel even worse."

Qiao Rui frowned and huffed, "Mr. Pei, how disgusting is it for you to sit here guessing a woman’s heart?"

Pei Liyan shrugged, "Are you upset because I’m right?"

"What a waste of time. This is obviously clear as day; you should go back to your guest room now." Qiao Rui issued the eviction order.

Pei Liyan stood up and looked down at Qiao Rui, his eyes deep and intense.

Qiao Rui fidgeted under his gaze.

He said, "I really like the ’bamboo poem’ by Liu Yuxi."

That caught Qiao Rui by surprise.

In the next second, the famous lines flashed through her mind: "Sunrise in the east, rain in the west, they say it’s not clear but there is clarity. They say it’s unfeeling but there is feeling."

Her eyes suddenly locked in place.

And he, with a faint smile, had already reached the door and was preparing to leave.

He meant that Song Xun wasn’t a heartless man.

But to Qiao Rui, these words seemed no more than mutual back-scratching and covering of sins between scoundrels.

How could you have feelings and still bear to hurt someone?

In the end, it was all about self-interest; to them, women were nothing more than desserts.

Yet Pei Liyan had the audacity to quote poetry to her. She frowned and muttered, "Repressed man."

Pei Liyan smiled faintly, "And you, you happen to be quite the coquette."

Qiao Rui: "....."
