" Bering, now that we are mated, I have infused my immortality into our bond. Your powers are enhancing and no one in the immortal realm can stop us unless Grandpa awakens which is highly unlikely. " Hnoss stated.

" I am not afraid of them. I just don’t want the shifter clan to be affected " I responded.

" I will protect the shifter plan " General Alexa asserted.

" I know. Come on. We better stage a good show " I chuckled and we left the pearl nest and landed on the beach. " What a welcoming party" I muttered.

The beach was filled with guards from Sitka and then the immortal guards who were accompanied by Freya, Freyja, and Baldur.

" Your cousin came?" I muttered through gritted teeth.

" Cousin? He is the one who declared that you are fit to be his mate, My lady" General Alex growled.

" Greetings Mother" Hnoss spoke up and we bowed.

" Come back with me " Freyja commanded.

"The last conversation that we had, you denounced me as your daughter. I obliged and have now settled in the human realm. I just want to be at peace, " Hnoss responded.

" Cut the crap Hnoss " Baldur retorted.

" Lower your voice when you are speaking to my Lady " General Alexa responded in anger.

" What ?" Baldur’s eyes widened with the realization that Hnoss and I had mated.

" What did you do ?" Freyja stepped forward with a menacing look towards Hnoss.

" Hnoss is mated to me " I announced and pushed her behind me.

" You have no right, " Baldur growled.

" I was raised with the knowledge that the Immortal realm was in charge of fated marriages. The gods rewarded us with mates and it was a blessing to find one. My serpent beast already recognized Hnoss as its mate. Do you think that the immortal realm is lying to us?" I demanded.

" My daughter is a goddess," Freyja yelled.

" So what? " Hnoss stepped forward. " The goddess of fate and marriages already stated that Bering was my mate. Do you think my wolf Hnoss would allow just anyone as a mate? "

"She has a point, " Freya responded. " Sister, you know how fate works. Our wolves are born immortal and there is no mistaking the destined mates. "

" I curse you, " Freyja yelled at Bering.

" Mother" I growled so loud that the ground shook and thunder hit the water. " Bering is my mate. If you curse Bering, you will be cursing me "

" I can’t accept this, " Freyja cried out." You belong to the immortal realm"

" Mother, for the past seven days, I have slept peacefully and my body is well rested. I found peace and here you are cursing at me?" Hnoss’s voice rose in anguish. " All the nightmares and visions are gone. Let me be."

" Calm down" I pulled Hnoss into my arms and pressed a kiss on her temple.

" Am tired" Hnoss whispered and her voice sounded sad.

" I am sorry " I heaved a sigh.

" What a bastard. Are you pretending to be good so that Hnoss can be sympathetic to you?"

" I am married to Hnoss. We are bonded for life and I don’t need to pretend at all" I asserted.

" Impudence " Baldur spoke up and my beast roared as I moved and pinned him down on the sand. I stepped on his head and he grunted in pain.

" What the hell?" Freya gasped in shock as the immortal guards stared at me in shock. Hnoss smiled while Freyja’s eyes widened.

" Your name is Baldur, right? I know you covet Hnoss and believe that you should be together. But a weak bastard like you is not worthy, how dare you open your mouth and utter such words? Hnoss is my love and my mate. " I spit on the ground next to him walked over to Hnoss and laced our arms together.

" My eyes are failing me" Freyja whispered as Freya rushed and picked up Baldur.

" You think that fate would give me a weak mate? Mother, Bering is powerful and just. No one is befitting to be mine. Only him" Hnoss declared.

" I don’t understand, ’’ Freyja stared at me in shock.

" Do you think that fate would give me a weak mate?" Hnoss demanded. " Mother, you are blinded by the immortal realm rules that you forgot how to live and be happy. Do you know how suppressed I felt in the immortal realm? But Bering was able to take away all the worries and cure my insomnia. Let us be"

" How?" Freyja whispered.

" You need to trust me " Hnoss stepped forward and embraced Freyja. " I promise to visit more often"

Freyja pushed Hnoss back, pulled a silk cloth from her pocket, and wiped the tears off her face. " Come here " she beckoned me.

I walked towards them and stood towering over her. She stared at me for a while and then pushed her power into me. My beast pushed the power back and kept her out of my mind and Freyja gasped in shock.

" You are immortal. ’’ She stared at me. " I thought the serpent sea god was half immortal. But based on your powers, you are the reincarnation of a mortal god. "

" What?" Baldur, Freya and General Alexa yelled.

" That explains it all. But I am not going to let you off. " Freyja stated in anger. She then pushed her powers and I felt my mind stir with a mind-link bond. " The Vulcan bond will be bound to you and your lineage for life. You will be tied to protect Hnoss and her immortal lineage for the rest of your lives. Only after ten thousand years can this bond be redeemed. "

" Mother" Hnoss yelled.

" You wanted to be happy. Live with it " She snickered and then she disappeared from the beach as a light beam rose in the sky and then we were left with Freyja and Baldur.

" You have been cursed," Baldur boasted.

" I can live with it. As long as my life is with Honss, I will love her until my last breath" I declared and Hnoss beamed.

" Don’t embarrass yourself any further. " Freya pulled Baldur and then added " I wish you a good life Hnoss" And they were gone with the guards and all that was left on the beach was the Serpent Shifter soldier and General Alex.

" We are going back to the pearl nest. Unless there are urgent matters, do not disturb us. " I announced. " After one week, prepare a ceremony and invite all the serpent shifters, I will introduce them to Hnoss, my mate"

" Yes My Lord " They all responded.

It was exactly a century later on my deathbed as Hnoss sniffed in pain as she rubbed my forehead. Someone has slipped poison and It was too late before we caught the person and my immortality kept me alive for an additional twenty years as Hnoss tried to find a cure to no avail. My serpent beast kept slipping and I felt my powers drain day by day.

" Hnoss, take care of our children when I am gone. Let them visit the immortal realm once a year so that we can honor Freyja" I whispered.

" They can’t wait for you to die. They sent someone to poison you and watched you slowly slip away. Why would I send my children to them?" Hnoss snickered and bit back a sob.

" Because we need to end the enmity between us " I smiled.

" What enmity? They chose to be my enemy" Hnoss snapped

" Darling, you know how much I love you. You must end all this and don’t let our kids be dragged into this" I asserted.

" Bering, there must be a cure " Hnoss insisted as he broke down and placed her head on my chest.

" Pa, why did you make Me cry again?" Dolf walked over and stared at me, eyes blazing.

" Why do you assume it’s Pa? Ma has been crying alot " Freki’s voice rose as she walked into the room.

" Why do I have to deal with the two of you ?" Bering walked into the room and huffed.

Hnoss has given birth to twins, Dolf and Freki and then Bering was the child that we had. They all had white hair and green eyes, the features that stood out between me and Hnoss. Dolf and Freki were born wolves while Bering was a serpent shifter.

" Stop it. I called you all here because I want to give my last wishes to all of you " My voice rasped and I watched the way the demeanor of my children changed as they stared at me in shock.

" Pa" Bering was the first one to speak as Hnoss sat on the bed beside me.

" My time is nearing the end. I want the three of you to visit the immortal realm and pay respects to your grandmother and mother’s family. Live your life and travel the seas and the world, be kind and just, and protect the shifter families. No shifter is weak, we all have our powers and must protect each other. I have lived my life, loved your mother as my only mate, and was loyal to all the shifters. There should never be a demarcation between us. You must ensure that this remains the same throughout our lineage. Don’t let evil rule and separate us. That is my last command to all of you"

" Yes Pa" They all responded in unison.

It was exactly a week later as Hnoss held me in my arms and then I pulled her down for a kiss as I breathed my last breath.
