Chapter 39: TAIL ON TALA

"I had the same look on my face when he narrated it to me," Tala pointed out.

"Then what happened?" I pressed Tala

"Nothing. Ralph and Conri got out of the room and left. But I have always suspected that Alpha Lobo later found out. "

"Does this mean that Conri is a powerful alpha?"

"Yes," Tala winked.

"Do you think Lucian knows?" I whispered loudly.

"CEO Lucian is no weak wolf. He knows. " Tala winked at me.

"Now, let us get down to business. I think you better have an office job. Going into the resort project will be dangerous now that Hunter is tailing you. "

"Thank you, Anisha," Tala beamed.

"And you need to move out of your apartment to mine. Come stay with me, "I suggested.

"Are you sure?" she seemed shocked at my offer.

"Yes. It will be fun to have you over," I laughed and hugged her.

"Zeeb is so lucky, "Tala giggled.

"you are smiling, "I teased her.

"Leave me the keys to your apartment. I will have you moved into mine today. "

"How?" she gasped.

"The movers will pack your clothes and necessities. We can go back later. Don’t worry they are professional moves and I am sure they will assign women to pack your items. "

She nodded and clapped her hands. "Yes." She removed the keycards from her bag and handed it to me.

"I will get you settled into the office. Let me get HR to show you around. " I stood up from my desk and called the HR. He arrived in my office a minute later and his steps faltered when he saw Tala.

"Totem stone, this is Tala Elijah. She will join the finance department as my PA. Please take her with you and introduce her to the company’s structure and policies."

"Hi," Totem’s eyes widened as his eyes raked over Tala from head to toe.

"Hi!" Tala’s assertive voice rose. She was back to her usual self.

"Follow me," He spoke up and opened the door for her. Tala blinked twice before recovering and she followed Totem out of my office while waving back at me.

I went back to my desk and got busy with work. An hour later, Zeeb knocked on the door of my office and walked in.

"Where is Tala?" He asked after closing the door

"Hello to you too," I retorted.

He stood at the door patiently waiting for my answer. I leaned back in my chair and took my eyes off him before stating "Totem took her to his office to prepare her documents and induction"

"You were serious?" Zeeb walked over and stood by my desk.

"Yes," I nodded.

"Thank you. But why would you do this? "Zeeb moved closer.

"Would you rather she remains in the hands of those bastards ?" I raised an eyebrow at him.

Zeeb chuckled and then turned to leave.

"What?" I demanded, and his steps faltered.

"I expected a different answer," He smiled at me.

I stood up and walked over to stare into his eyes. "What more could there be?"

"You did this for me," Zeeb’s answer straight forward.

"Partly yes" I nodded, acknowledging it finally.

"Thank you, "He said and his hand rose and rubbed on my hair. "Tala needs to be around people who will have a positive influence and impact on her"

"That is why I took this step" I moved away from him and he pulled me back into a back embrace.

"How much time do you need, Anisha? "His voice was deep and in anguish. My wolf stirred and whimpered. I swallowed hard and remained silent. "You don’t trust me? "he whispered. "How can you not trust me?"

I turned around and my eyes blazed at him. " Trust? I have no idea what that word means. Though my wolf recognized you as my mate, I am not sure that I can be anyone’s mate"

"Why?" He demanded.

"I have a very dark past," I laughed.

"So what? You are my mate, " Zeeb laughed back.

"You don’t understand," I tried to explain

He interjected and asserted, "It is you who does not understand. You are my mate. There is no turning back or two ways about it. I have been holding back to give you time to accept that we are fated."

" I will disappoint you," I insisted.

"That is my cross to bear and not yours. " He pressed a kiss on my temple.

"I- " Stuttering while trying to explain.

"Stop" He commanded, and I felt my wolf obey him. I turned to look into his eyes and whispered, "You better keep your word, Zeeb Elijah. If you break it, I will never forgive you.

He nodded, pulled me into an embrace, and muttered, "Finally"

But I was feeling shy and embarrassed by the way he cuddled and held me. His warm body made me press my head deeper into his chest as he rubbed my back before I realized that I was getting needy. He reluctantly left my office after I chased him away and told him I was busy with work.

Two hours later, I called a moving company and instructed them to access Tala’s apartment. I got a courier to deliver the key card. It was after office hours when Tala walked into my office.

"Tired," I asked her.

"Yes. Too much information to get in. I am not complaining, "she added.

"I already moved your stuff. Let’s go home’ I announced.

"Wow. Thank you, Anisha. I will order dinner on the way, "Tala insisted.

"Deal"

We got out of the office and walked to my car.

"Leave your car here for a while. We riding together for now until everything settled down"

"Okay. "Tala accepted my suggestion

We left the Due Corporation and drove on the wet road as the soft rain hit the car. Tala kept looking out of the window and checking if we were being followed. Ten minutes later, we spotted two wolves along the road.

Tala gasped, and I recognized Hunter’s wolves.

"What the fuck are they doing? " I seethed and then there was a loud back as something huge hit the side of the escalade. I swerved as Tala screamed, but finally managed to get control of the car. I sped off down the road and switched lanes.

"What the fuck was that?" I turned to Tala, who was shaking in fear.
