ADDISON’S POV

"You are six weeks pregnant. " The pack doctor announced. " But there are dangers to your pregnancy. From now on, you will have to slow down and protect the fetus until they are grown. Hence, I am giving you bed rest for two months"

" What ?" I gasped.

" Take my advice if you want to give birth to healthy pups" The pack doctor scolded me.

" What If I want to terminate the pregnancy ?" I whispered and his eyes widened.

" Miss Hemming, aren’t you mated to Keith Isla? " He asked.

" I am, " I nodded.

" Then just talk to him. He will be happy about your pregnancy " The pack doctor assured.

I nodded and left the pack hospital, wandered around Chugach and finally ended up on the pier. I stood staring out at the sea with worry that Keith would not be happy about the pregnancy. I was not sure if he wanted to have kids taking into account all the evil things his family had done. He still had nightmares and I knew that he was still grieving the loss of his dad Ralph Isla.

My phone buzzed and the caller ID was Ma and when I connected the call she yelled at me " Addison, you better get your ass here " and then she disconnected the call.

That loud-mouth pack doctor had already called Ma. I huffed and walked back to the train, hailed a cab and it drove me to Elder Zaya’s home. When I arrived Ma’ was pacing up and down at the door. Her shoulders sagged when she spotted me and she rushed to embrace me.

" Calm down Ma" I whispered and patted her back. I pulled her into the house and Elder Zaya stood up.

" Greeting Elder Zaya " I smiled and she moved over to embrace me.

" Addison, come and sit with me " Elder Zaya pulled me down as Ma whispered " I am going to make some tea for us "

"Ma, stop running away and sit down " I scolded her and she nodded and moved to sit on the right-hand side.

" So that loud pack doctor already called you " I snickered.

" I am so happy that you are pregnant " Ma bit back a sob.

" So what are your fears?" Elder Zaya took my hand in hers and her eyes bore at me.

" What if Keith does not want kids? He still has nightmares at night and keeps to himself at times. It’s been a hard journey healing and if I tell him that I am pregnant, I am not sure what the reaction will be"

" An abortion is out of question " Ma scolded me.

" I was just asking, " I muttered.

" How can I miss my grandchildren just because you are insecure? " Ma added.

" You are scaring the child, " Elder Zaya interjected.

" I am angry " Ma stood up and left the living room.

" Let her be. She is just worried about you " Elder Zaya smiled with affection.

" I know, " I nodded.

" Keith is a good man. He just had a bad father and a rotten family. But Levy and him turned out to be good children. He is lucky to have you and you have made him into the man that he is. You need to be honest with him, " Elder Zaya advised.

" I know what should be done. But I am still afraid, " I confessed.

" You are in love with your mate and want the best for him "Edler Zaya nodded. " But children are a blessing and gifts from the moon god. Keith will be elated and you just need to trust in your mating bond. "

" Are you saying that shifters cannot get pregnant unless the mating bond between them is solid?" I whispered in shock.

" The moon god is said to be merciful to shifter wolves. Hence the mating bond between to-shifter wolves can only produce pups if they rely and trust on each other and their love is enough to please the moon god. She then bestows the blessing of the pups and that is how it works " Elder Zaya informed me.

" Wow " I gasped. " I never knew.

" It’s an okay child. Now you know" She smiled affectionately.

" I was overthinking right ?" I whispered in embarrassment.

" When the pack doctor called, your mother almost went crazy " She chuckled.

" Does he even have a secret ?" I cursed. " What about patient confidentiality ?"

" He is an old friend of mine. He was just worried. You need to thank him when you go back for a check-up. He was just looking out for you " Elder Zaya spoke in defense.

" Thank you" I nodded at her just as Ma walked in carrying a tray with three cups of tea.

" Have some tea to calm your nerves, " Ma said. She placed the tray on the table and handed me one cup of tea, and another to Elder Zaya and she picked up the last one.

" Ma, I am sorry I worried you " I whispered just before I placed the cup of tea on my lips.

" Mmh. You are my only daughter and it is my job to worry about my kids. The three of you are blessed to have found your mates and I am truly honored by the moon god. The years of suffering have been a burden to all of you as you were young when we moved to Sitka and then stuck for so many years in that prison. " Go and find Kieth. I am sure he will be over the moon when he hears the news" Ma stated.

"Go" She raised her hand and rushed out of Elder Zaya’s home, hailed a cab and it drove me home. I knew Keith had already left the pack offices and had driven home. I called the maid who he had hired for me and she confirmed the same. The thudding of my heart was so loud that it deafened my ears. Paying the cab driver in a hurry, I rushed into the house and found Keith upstairs in the home office, glued to a document with his brows furrowed.

"Mate" I spoke up and his body stiffened and raised his head and stared at me.

" Addison, I have a presentation tomorrow, give me some face, and let me work " He groaned.

" No" I closed the door and then took off my coat.

His eyes widened and then he leaned back on the chair and whispered " Oh Addison, you do realize that you are playing with fire ?"

" So what ?" I nodded and then unbuttoned my shirt and moved two steps forward. I watched the way his eyes widened and then he stood up and walked over to tower over me. " I have some good news for you"

"Really ?" He whispered as I felt his wolf penetrate my mind.

" I am pregnant. The pack doctor confirmed it this afternoon. He said, "I am carrying two pups and need bed rest for two months."

Keith’s jaw dropped and he staggered back in shock. " Pregnant?" His eyes lit up and then he pulled me into a hug and then the sobs came in. They raked his body and I had to pull him down and hold him. We sat down on the office floor for a while and then he spoke up " Addison, you have completely healed my heart. I never expected that the moon god would be kind enough to give me a mate and even so pups. This news has made me so happy. "

I stared into his eyes and then responded " I was afraid you would not want kids"

" What the fuck gave you that idea ?" His eyes widened.

" You have been through so much Keith. I just don’t want to make you unhappy. You have nightmares and are withdrawn at times"

" Forgive me, Addison. I never considered your feelings. I am sorry. It’s been hard to let go of Pa’s death and all the harm the Isla family has done. Levy and I discussed it yesterday and I will be helping City Hall revive itself and all the projects that will be done for upgrading Chugach town funded by Due Corporation. But the news of your pregnancy is such an elation for me. I will have my own family now"
