HUNTER’S POV

It had been three days since Tala went up the mountain to assist Aurora and had not come back. I was pissed off and sleeping alone in my bed irritated me more. Hence I spent the days in the pack office as going home made my temper worse.

I cursed so much that Everest and Lovita walked to my office late in the afternoon.

" You are scaring the pack members with your temper " Everest scolded me.

" I am pissed off," I muttered.

" You need to be a mindful Hunter. Your Alpha wolf can be scary " Lovita adamantly responded.

"Why the fuck can’t Cadman just deal with the issue in the mountain and let Tala be?" I demanded as I paced up and down the pack office.

" Calm down. The Battalion is back in Chugach today and Tala will be off the mountain today and you will be happy at last" Everest assured me.

" Why the fuck does he need her ?" I turned to Lovita "Your mother is a strong wolf and can handle herself.

" Because Ma is difficult to handle, " Lovita responded. " And Judy is a traitor. Reinforcements are needed for the mountain to be peaceful. "

" Hunter, do you think that I am suited to be a housewife? Why the fuck would you summon me from my work up in the mountain? Work is work and I am still part of the pack enforcers even though I am your mate. " she yelled.

I turned around and signaled for Everest and Lovita to leave my office and then dragged Tala in and closed the door.

" Baby, I missed you so much " I whispered and my nose rubbed on her neck. I wanted to seduce her and weaken her resolve.

" Do you know how dangerous Judy is? Aurora went ballistic when Judy cursed at her and hid in the jail cell. I was scared that the mountain would cave in by the way Aurora screamed and her wolf was in a rage" I whispered.

" I am a brute. I accept it, " I nodded. " Three fucking days without you? How do you think I slept? I went for a run but my body did not cooperate and I chose to spend time in the office. We are going home so you can repay for the three days."

" Yes. I had missed home, " She confessed.

" We missed you too. I hate it when you are gone, " I confessed.

" Mmmh I understand. I am sorry that I did not think this through. I rushed to the mountains and did not consider your feelings. Please forgive me" She responded.

" You know very well that we have worked together for so long. I have gotten used to having you around and maybe become a tad bit selfish. As your mate, I am selfish." I nodded.

" Now that Alpha Conri and Chairman Lucian are away, we have to be vigilant. A year is still a long time to be away but we must respect their decision. I was thinking that we need to come up with a new plan for the pack. Train more enforcers and guards. " She suggested.

" What about us? I want to start a family ?" I stated.

Tala was silent for a minute and I gave her ample time to respond " I know. I just need more time "

" What is holding you back?" I asked.

" I am scared that when I become a mother, I will no longer be an enforcer," she whispered.

" Tala, there is no way you can lose yourself. You will always be the best tracker and pack enforcer. " I asserted.

" Are you sure?" She whispered and her eyes teared up.

"Positive. I will wait till you are ready. No pressure"

" Thank you Hunter" She responded and I felt the gnaw in my heart as I had calculated that last night was a good night to get Tala pregnant and hoped that she would not hate me once she found out.
