" Everyone in the KODA council knew this?" I demanded.

" Yes," Godmother answered.

" Our family members killed each other, and you kept it bottled up? What happened to Izak and Austin? Did you also know that Maurice Isla had a twin called John Isla? "

" They disappeared. We never heard of them for years. As for Maurice Isla, his mother was my friend. She was a serpent shifter and they fell in love with Isla Dom. After the birth of Maurice and John, Alister came over and took John away. Their mother died Isla Dom remarried and Lorraine and Ralph were born. No one knows what happened thereafter but Dom and the woman perished at sea. Alister looked after Maurice for a while before Maurice left Chugach. But Alister had been hovering in the mountains and Benjamin decided to offer him a job and house at the bar. " Godmother narrated.

"Shit" Lucian muttered.

" So are you going to tell me why you are asking all these questions?" Godmother demanded.

" Izak Dolf and Austin Carter are alive. Someone more powerful than them is the one harvesting the shifter’s energy and power. Hunter and Everest went to the mountain and captured Maurice and John Isla. They are both in jail as we speak. But we have no whereabouts of Izak and Austin. " I informed Godmother and could hear her cursing over and over as I spoke.

" Those fucking bastards" She sniffed and I could tell the memories were painful for her.

" Godmother, what is the greed for power and craze?"

"An old man was living in Chugach prison. I have no idea what he found but they say that he was taking the prisoners and harvesting their shifter powers. My guess is that is how Maurice met him. As for Izak and Austin, they were born enforcers. They must have spent time in Chugach and discovered all these. We must thank Lobo because he was so caught up with the Tabular that anyone else who brought a different agenda, would be kicked out of the pack. Maurice did attempt once to lure Lobo but Lobo chased him away."

" Any more secrets ?" I drawled.

" Conri, you must understand that the pack does not need to hear all the gory details of our family. How was I meant to tell them that your Uncle killed your parents? And he was helped by Austin Carter. And that the Freki met the same death? We had speculation and no evidence" Godmother defended herself.

" Don’t worry Godmother, we understand. Take a rest, we shall call you once we find something " Lucian interjected before I could retort.

" Thank you, Lucian. Have a good night both of you " She disconnected the call.

I leaned back on the headboard of the bed and my mind wandered back to the past. I remember the way Godmother was so heartbroken and she cried so much during and after the funeral.

" A penny for your thoughts " Lucian interjected and I turned to him with worry.

" Our parents’ deaths were committed by our relatives " I spoke up.

" So what? What does that have to do with us?" Lucian demanded. " Are you going to beat yourself up ?"

" That is not it. I hate having all these discoveries that concern us. " I closed my eyes.

Lucian picked up his phone made a call and put it on speaker. The other end of the line was answered by Aunty Sasha " Lucian, why are you calling me? Are you okay? What is wrong ?" She rambled on.

" Aunty, I need to ask you a few things, " Lucian spoke up.

" Sure, " she responded. " Give me a few minutes, I was outside taking a walk" There was silence at the end of the line as we heard her footsteps, and then the door closed. "What is it ?"

" Tell me about Uncle Austin "

" What the fuck would you want to know about that bastard?" Aunty Sasha’s voice changed into a cold one.

" Because he is alive " Lucian responded.

" What ?" We heard a cup shatter and knew that she had dropped it from the shock of my words.

" You heard me," Lucian stated.

" That evil bastard that was responsible for the pack deaths is still alive? I remember your father suspected that Izak Dolf and Austin Carter were behind the missing shifters in the pack. Later on, Dolf passed on and your mother died the same way. But your father’s passing was different since his powers were intact. Lobo came to Texas to ask about it and I had no information to share. We were so caught up with finding the Tabular crystal and blinded to anything else that was not in line with our plans. But Maurice Isla once told Lobo that there was another way to get power. Ralph objected to it and chased Maurice out of Chugach. I heard mumbles from Zineb once that Ralph knew well who killed Conri Dolf’s parents and the car accident was staged" Aunty Sasha seethed.

" They must have acted with someone else. They could not have achieved this on their own" I responded.

" That psycho on the pearl farm Cyrus and one of the first pack members called Abyssal" Aunty Sasha snickered.

"Cyrus?" Lucian and I both muttered at the same time.

" Let him not fool you. There were so many massacres in the sea, missing boats or even dead shifters, and he was behind them. He colluded with Abyssal and Lobo was furious and went after them. They disappeared but once I heard that they had a place between Russia and Sitka. " Aunty Sasha supplied.

" Why are you all keeping all these secrets?"

" Because they left the pack more than twenty years ago. You were all young and did not need to be dragged with all these deaths and evil doings of the past lives of our relatives. Your father was so bitter when he discovered what Austin Carter did. He went on a rampage and searched for him for years. But he came back to Chugach and informed the KODA council that he found nothing. He was so heartbroken but a fight broke out between him and Ralph Isla. It was Elder Zaya who stopped them. "

" What was the fight about ?" Lucian asked.

" Your father clearly stated that the scent of Austin Carter and Izak Dolf was that of Conri’s parents and your mother. He scented them as he chased them and they disappeared in the water. Your father asked Ralph about the serpent shifter family and the connection to the sea. Ralph remained mute and never answered. Your father swore that he would find them even if they ran to the end of the earth."

" But Pa died, " Lucian stated.

" To be precise he was killed. Poisoned and someone had tried to harvest his shifter wolf. Unfortunately, they did not know that your father was blessed by the moon gods and he protected his wolf to his dying breath. Everyone was told he died of heartbreak and gave up his life, but he came to Texas once and told me that his mind had been poisoned with sea evil magic. He felt that he was always in a rage and could not control his wolf. He wished that he had done the Ranbart blood pact with your mother and this could have saved both their lives. " Aunty Sasha explained.

" I remember it very well. I just thought he was rambling and wanted to embarrass me since I had refused to take a mate " Lucian chuckled.

"If those bastards are alive, it means that they have been watching us and have a plan to continue harvesting shifters. But why show themselves now ?" Aunty Sasha thought out loud.

" We gave his grandson a chance after Abyssal killed his father. His name is Edins Abyssal and the last I heard, works under Hunter as an enforcer"

" What?" Lucian and I both thundered in shock.

" Yes. He is a member of the Golden Pack office staff. " Aunty Sasha added.

" Thank you, Aunty. I will call you back when I have more questions" Lucian responded as I got out of bed and paced by the window.

" Most welcome Lucian. Please keep safe " She ended the call and I threw the phone on the bed.

" Edins is the mole, " I spoke up.

" Of Course. We have been exposed and now they must have an idea of the shifter powers that surround the Golden shifter pack and the KODA council"
