CONRI’S POV

Pushing everything at the back of my mind, we walked into the Northern border that was at the far end of Mount Chugach. Despite the clear skies that had smiled upon us for the first few days of the journey, dark clouds inevitably crowded the skies.

" I love how the weather is favoring us, " Tizheruk chirped.

" I love nothing that keeps me away from Lucian" I snickered.

" I understand how you feel but if we don’t do this we shall be looking over our shoulders for too long. "Tizheruk stated "Even though I find that it’s too easy. We have made it to the border without seeing anyone along the way. "

" That is true. : Conri nodded and then pushed his power out and said " The Northern border camp is up ahead. I sense the presence of our people. The rain came down in soft droplets, and thunder rumbled overhead. Distant trees were little more than smears of dark shapes against the rolling landscape of the northern border. It smelled of wet earth, the gentle hush of rain mixing despite the sky remaining cloudy. The rain continued to fall as the fog rose and the forest crept up against the edge of the Northern border before the view of the northern border camp came into view.

" Finally we are here " Tizheruk stated and I held him back.

" Wait, what is that smell?" I demanded as the clear smell of Cinnabar and Pearls hit our nostrils.

" The camp is composed " Tizheruk cursed as he paced up and down.

" The wolves in the camp are being commanded by her," I informed Tizheruk.

" I can tell" He snickered as he raised his nose in the air and sniffed." There are more wolves up the mountain. An assumption that the golden shifter pack border team is dead or turned into Mangy wolves"

" Fuck " I cursed and then turned to Tizheruk " I suggest we split up. You need to find where she is hiding and I need to pretend to attack her. Let Dolf know where she is"

" That is a bad idea" Tizheruk shook his head. " We need to remain together and be stronger when our powers are combined.

" Listen to me please " I pleaded with him.

" No, " He responded. " I remember very well this is what I did the last time I was attacked alone and ended up leaving my people. Do you know what it taught me? That I should have trusted Alexander and her shifter people and we could not have been apart for so long."

We walked into the northern border army and a strange man rushed over to greet us " Greetings, how can I help you ?" He spoke up.

" This is my Hunter and I am Everest from the Golden Shifter pack" I lied.

" Oh, welcome. Come in and wait for him at his tent" The man nodded and turned around an indication that we needed to follow him.

" Thank you " Tizheruk spoke up and we walked into the Northern border camp. We entered the tented camp that was in the middle and the place was well furnished as the man beckoned us to sit down.

" Take a rest. I will have the kitchen bring you some wine" He bowed and left.

Once the door of the tent flapped close, I turned to Tizheruk and he placed a hand on his lips and said " Wait "

We listened in as wolves surrounded our tent and then we felt the air change Tizheruk stood up and seethed " Lucin poison" and covered his nose but it was too late as I felt his beast weaken and he fell on the floor. I rushed over to him and Dolf rose ready to attack when I heard a woman’s voice laugh.

I turned around and my eyes widened as a middle-aged woman stood at the entrance of the tent with a spear in her hand. She had long white hair and gray eyes. For her age, her skin was flawless and I could tell that she had used her power to keep herself young. Dolf rose and growled at her commanding submission and she staggered back in shock.

I stood up after confirming that Tizheruk was breathing and lying unconscious but his serpent stopped the poison from spreading.

" You are Conri Dolf ’ she smiled with evilness and I sensed something beyond her wolf. She had the scent of Tizheruk’s scales and a black aura surrounding her mind.

" You have surrounded yourself with so many ideas because you seek power that is not yours. Do you think that having this power would make everyone obey you ?" I smiled with calmness.

" Does it matter " She stepped forward " Your so-called sea god is poisoned. I learned long ago what could put him down after his serpent shifters betrayed him. If you want him to live, stand down.

" Why should I listen to you? " I stood my ground and felt Dolf rise in command. The power that came out of me was so strong that she staggered back. " I can heal him in seconds. You are no match for me "

My eyes blazed at her and I took a step back. I commanded Dolf to calm down and choose to do her bidding.

" Woman, I am at my limit. Even though I hold back, he stays with me " I growled so loud that the tent shook as the guards fell back. I picked up Tizheruk, emptied the table with one hand, and placed him on it.

" I want you to command the many wolves and attack the Golden shifter pack. " She stated.

" Command? " I mouthed cynically.

" Yes. you see I released my sons to the Golden Shifter pack. They are now in Chugach" She announced and my blood ran cold.

I opened up my mind and sent words to Lucian " Are you okay ?"

" Yes, we are in Sitka. I have bad news. Two wolves are in the Freki lands, they had planned to kidnap Anisha but Lobo and Isamu arrive in Chugach and save her. Are you okay ?"

" Find out what is happening back in Chugach. I fear that we have been compromised there is a mole that is feeding Loraine with information." I closed the mind link and watched the way Loraine stared at me with evilness.

" You sent your sons to their deaths? Aren’t you afraid that Aurora and Lovita will end them?" I calmly spoke as I wanted to agitate her.

She smirked and said " I am betting on it. The only way to kill Aria is to release the wolf bond and end them.

My eyes widened as I stared at her and realized that she was more than crazy. She was the scum and the epitome of evilness.

" So you don’t care about your song?"I observed.

" I do. But they were born when Aria committed rape and they were conceived. I harbor only resentment in my heart" She seethed.

" Eradicate the Golden shifter pack?" I laughed in shock.

"Yes. Kill everyone in Chugach so that it never exists. I suffered at the hands of Aria and my brother Isla never defended me. He let Aria reduce me to nothing, took my daughter, and then raped me. " She explained.

" What does the rest of Chugach have to do with it? Isla and Aria are dead" I pointed out.

" I heard that my daughter has already arrived in Chugach. Before I kill everyone, I will send a word so that she comes over. " Lorraine smiled.

" Her hybrid husband will snap your head into two before he lets you have her ’’ I chuckled and I was surprised when I heard Tizheruk’s voice in my head pushing through and uttered " That is enough power. The poison has slowed down. I just need to rest and push it out. Get her out of here so that I can spit out all the poisonous blood that is clogging my body"

" Mmmmh we shall see about that " She snickered and turned around to leave. " Better stay put if you know what is good for you, Conri Dolf. I was told you are the king of wolves but I see nothing great about your power" And with that, she was gone from the tent and then thousands of wolves could be heard as they circled the tent.

I stood up and pulled a bucket from the corner of the room and placed it near Tizheruk’s mouth, pulled him up, and murmured " Here you go". He vomited all the poisonous blood and once he was done, I placed him back on the table, put the bucket down, and gave him water to drink.

" Welcome back, " I said to him when his eyes opened and he heaved a sigh of relief.
