"Tsk, your bedroom needs space for Conri. The kitchen cutlery too. "Anisha insisted.

"I have not thought about any changes. I was so in a hurry to just get him out of the mountains, " I confessed, and Elder Zaya laughed.

"I am taking over. This mansion needs an overhaul. Give me the card?" Anisha stretched out her hand. I shook my head as I removed my wallet and handed her the shopping card.

"I would also suggest we get a new security team to guard the mansion and the vast Freki lands. We can install new cameras and sensors so that anyone who tries to intrude will be discovered," Anisha stated.

"I agree, " Elder Zaya affirmed.

"I forgot to tell you. I have been so busy with work that it almost escaped my mind. Someone was watching me in the Freki woods the other day. I do not know who it is, but we need to flash the person on sooner rather than later"

"What? Must be one of Lobo’s minions," Elder Zaya growled.

"I will call Zeeb so that he can work on the security details. But in the meantime, I need to have over the keys to the safe house"

"What safe house?"

"And Godfather told me to hand over the basement keys of the safe house. He said I would know the right time to do it. "She took her handbag and got out a velvet box

"Safe house?" I whispered.

"The mansion is sitting on an underground basement that is a safe house. It is impenetrable and leads into the Freki lands deep in the woods. " She removed a box from her handbag and handed it to me.

Elder Zaya and I looked at each other and laughed. "That is perfect," I smirked. I opened the box and saw a set of keys and a card.

"The access control on the door has a card and fingerprints. It’s been years and I know the place is full of dust. I will find a trusted team to clean it up. " Anisha stated.

"Thank you, sis" I grinned.

"As for the engagement date, why not set it for two weeks" Anisha suggested

"No," Elder Zaya and I spoke at the same time.

"What?" Anisha laughed.

"We will hold the engagement ceremony in two days. I already booked the Hilton ballroom at the Embassy Suites for the engagement ceremony and you shall sign the marriage certificate then. " She responded

"Thank you, godmother." I smiled at Elder Zaya. The sooner we got married, the better.

"You seem to be in a hurry, " Anisha noted.

"Time waits for no man," Elder Zaya insisted.

"What about your wedding suits? Are they ready? What about Conri?" Anisha asked.

"I did not think far ahead, "Elder Zaya muttered.

"Dont you worry? I will contact Conri to come over and have Stallone’s menswear bring all the suits so that we can choose tomorrow. "I announced.

"Contact Conri how?" Elder Zaya asked

"Conri has a cellphone, godmother," I announced.

"That brat. Do you know how many times I asked if he had a cell phone? "Elder Zaya laughed as she shook her head. I guessed that Conri did not inform her that he had a cell phone.

"The Stallone’s suit shop does not open on Sunday," Anisha exclaimed.

"Don’t worry. I know the owner. I will make a special request, " I boasted.

Elder Zaya stood up, forcing me to stand up." Thank you, Lucian. I will leave it to you to handle this. Anisha will drop me home. "

"You can drop by anytime, Godmother," I informed her. She grinned happily and waved as they walked out of the mansion.

Hours later, I lay in bed after dinner, deep in thought about the changes in my life. I was marrying Conri Dolf, the man of my desires, in two days. I kept thinking about Pa and how happy he was with Ma. Sadness filled my heart that Pa would not be here to witness this occasion.

I wondered what Conri was doing and decided to text him. I picked up my phone from the night bedside table and hesitated about what to do. Finally, I typed the message and pressed send.

"Hi,"

Ten minutes later, there was no response. I got so worked up that I pressed the dial button and the phone rang several times before he picked up.

"Why did you not text back?" I demanded.

"Can’t you read between the lines? "He retorted

"No," I chuckled. "Come over to the mansion tomorrow before noon."

"I am busy," He responded calmly.

"Godmother came over and has instructed you to come over without fail." I sounded like a spoiled brat but was not even bothered by it.

"Godmother? Are you fucking serious? How is she your godmother? "Conri scolded me.

"Yes." I grinned. " She asked me to call her godmother.

"Are you always this annoying ?"

"It depends on the situation. You are stubborn and hence you are forcing my hand. I need us to communicate, but you keep pushing me away at every turn.

He remained silent at the end of the phone and I patiently waited for him to continue the conversation.

"I will come to the mansion. By the back river, I will use the forest and access the mansion." He announced, and I could feel his teeth gritting as he spoke.

"Great!" I rejoiced. "I will be waiting for you. Should I make lunch?

"Bye," He announced.

"Wait please," I interjected.

"I hate being disturbed, "He retorted. "Why do you keep bothering me, Lucian? Go find someone else to play with."

"I just want to hear your voice, Conri," I asserted.

"I don’t have time for your nonsense Lucian," He growled over the phone.

"My feelings for you are not nonsense, Conri," I snapped.

"Feelings? My heart died long ago. You better realize that this is just a marriage contract. "He chuckled.

"Keep lying to yourself, Conri. Soon you will be in my arms. "I disconnected the call and threw the phone on the table. Sleep eluded me for hours as the words that Conri spoke rang deep in my mind. How could he be so cutthroat?
