Sleep eluded me as I tossed and turned in bed until Lucian cursed and sat up " What the fuck? I want to sleep ’’ He whined.

" Sorry. I am too anxious, " I confessed.

" What is it ?" Lucian faced me.

" I am worried that Tizheruk has a burden that will affect me and you. I know that he is the serpent sea god and now he has three hundred lives tied to him" I confessed.

" You are afraid he will not be able to protect them ?" Lucian stared at me in anger

" Why are you angry ?" I demanded.

" You are doubting him and yourself, " Lucian snapped.

" I am worried "

" No Conri. I have always felt that you fear being responsible for so many lives. You are still blaming yourself for Lupe’s death. And that is why you are shying off taking over the pack. But I want to tell you that I will not allow you to be a coward. Suck it up and know that you must protect the golden shifter back as the King of wolves and assist Tizheruk protect the serpents of the sea" With that Lucian went back to sleep and closed his eyes, with his back facing me.

My mouth was agape as I stared at Lucian’s back.

" He finally put you in place" Dolf drawled.

I leaned back on the bed and after a while, Lucian turned around and put his head on my chest. " Goodnight " He murmured as my hands went around him and I took in his scent. I fell asleep not long after and the last thoughts in my mind were on how to ensure Tizheruk and I win this war.

Early the next day, Alexander arrived at the villa. Haida had already made breakfast and Chary assisted her. We had breakfast in silence and as Haida and Cherry cleared the table, we settled in the office that was in the east wing of the office.

" I need you to alert all the men to be ready for a fight," Tizheruk instructed Alexander.

" Yes, My lord. Have your mansion surrounded tonight. We can’t take anything to chance. " Alexander nodded.

" Have Haida allocated with the most lethal female guards. One hundred of them for tonight’s mission. She shall check the barrier and then go and secure Zineb and leave for Chugach. Secure the private airstrip and keep them safe until they are airborne. " Tizheruk explained to Alexander whose eyes widened

" Is that necessary?" He asked

" Yes," Lucian and I responded.

" Okay. I will go and have everything ready. " Alexander stood up and left.

An hour later, we were still in the office making plans when Haida walked in.

" Did I miss something ?" She asked.

" No. Alexander will organize guards to protect you tonight" Tizheruk informed her.

Haida nodded and responded " Thank you, Bering. I know that it’s difficult for you but this has to be done. We can’t let them access the next or have control over us. Now it’s time to prepare for the dinner at the Governor’s mansion. Chary and I are working on getting ready to go undersea. "

" Be careful, " I told Haida.

" I will, " she nodded as she stood up to leave the room.

" Stay, I want to talk to you " Tizheruk whispered.

"That is our queue to leave " Lucian dragged me from the office as we went to dress up for dinner.

Hours later, Alexander had sent the cars to pick us up. We arrived at the flashy mansion and Tizheruk was still during the whole ride.

" You better relax. Remember that Lobo and Isamu are no fools. " I scolded him.

" His mate is going on a dangerous mission. He is bound to be scared, " Lucian responded.

" I know, " I whispered.

" Chin up. You will sulk later " I commanded Tizheruk and he huffed.

The guards ushered us in and we walked towards the guest launch. The minute we walked in the air in the room sizzled as Lobo and Isamu’s faces changed. My eyes blazed as I heard the intake of breath from both of them.

Governor Alexander stood up and his voice went a notch higher in excitement he rushed over and embraced me " Bering, I am so glad you are here "

" Thank you Alexander for inviting us over. " I pulled away from the embrace. " This is my cousin Conri Dolf and his mate Lucian Frek, CEO of Due Corporation"

" It’s a pleasure to meet you " Alexander shook our hands.

"I am so glad you are here. I would like to introduce you to my guest who has just settled in Sitka. This is Isamu Saki and Lobo Aria"

" I know them " Lucian drawled as he walked over, sat down, and crossed one leg over the other "

" What ?" Alexander pretended to be shocked.

" Mhh" I nodded and walked to sit next to Lucian but Tizheruk moved the single seat, removed his coat, and sat down.

I could see the way Isamu and Lobo’s eyes bore at him.

" You said his name is Bering?" Isamu’s eyes squinted at Tizheruk

" Yes. My name is Tizheruk Bering "

Isamu’s intake of breath and Lobo’s shocked face were comical. They never expected Tizheruk to be straightforward and even more sore we would feel the power that was radiating from Tizheruk. He was doing it on purpose and Dolf chuckled in our mind links making Lucian cover his laughter with a cough.

" Why do you ask ?" Tizheruk drawled with boredom.

Isamu stood up and announced " I apologize Governor Alexander but we are leaving"

" Why ?" Lobo and Alexander spoke at the same time.

" I am no longer interested in having dinner today. Maybe some other time "

" You mean you are a coward running away from the creature that you tried to kill " Tizheruk smirked as his eyes turned green and he stared at Isamu in disgust.

Isamu staggered back and Lobo pulled him down on the couch. " We shall stay for dinner" Lobo announced while Isamu looked like he wanted to kill Tizheruk.

" So you all know each other ?" Alexander pretended to be pleased.

" Yes" Lucian responded

" Then let me serve you drinks as we wait for the dinner to be set. ’’ He stood up and signaled the guard who was standing by the door.

There was pin drop silence even after we were served drinks. Tizheruk had a boring look while Lucian looked annoyed at the way Lobo threw glances at me.

" Relax" Lobo sent the words through our mind link.

" How? When someone wants to covet my husband and mate " Lucian responded the same way.

Conri laced our hands together and I watched him lift them and press a kiss on them. " Lil pup," He whispered seductively.

I realized he did not intend to, as Lobo’s curse was low but we all heard it. Tizheruk chuckled and said " Alexander, forgive them. They are newlyweds and newly mated. My cousin Conri was away for a long time and now he has not gotten used to being married and mated "

" It’s fine. I understand. I am yet to find a mate myself. I am envious of them, " Alexander nodded politely.

" You need to find a mate," I chuckled and turned to Tizheruk.

His eyes twinkled and said " It’s hard to find sea creatures. Unless you want to introduce me to a nice shifter wolf "

Lucian was the first to react as he burst out laughing and said " I think that a Hybrid would serve you better "

"No. If not from the sea or the wolf shifter, I would rather remain alone for life " A small smile played on Tizheruk’s mouth as he responded.

"Hybrids are shifters too. Why would you exclude them ?" Isamu finally spoke up.

" Because it’s them that hurt me. I have a long life grudge " Tizheruk raised the hand that held the glass and toasted to Isamu.

" You are alive and breathing, no?" Isamu smirked.

" I am. " Tizheruk nodded and I felt proud that he was doing everything to keep them in Alexander’s mansion until we were sure that Haida was done.

" Dinner is ready " The guard announced and Alexander stood up and said " Come on my friends. Let us have dinner "

At the dinner table, Alexander conversed with Lobo while Isamu and Tizheru sat stiffly across each other. Lucian and I opted to flirt with each other to annoy Lobo. We counted the time and it was already three hours after we arrived at the Governor’s Mansion as it was the agreed time that we had asked Haida to take.

After dinner, Lucian spoke up " Alexander, thank you for inviting us. Elder Zaya is the one who sent us to get to you. We appreciate your hospitality but now we have to go as tomorrow we head back home"

" Not a problem, " Alexander nodded.

" I thought we had more time, I am enjoying the current company that is in the room. It would be good to get to get more acquainted, " Tizheruk responded.

" We need to leave " Isamu tempers flared.

" Thank you for your time Governor ’’ Lobo nodded and then I felt him try to push his powers of control to me. An invisible wall pushed him back and he staggered and hit the wall. I watched as Isamu stared at me and growled " Impossible" He uttered.

" Why don’t you try it ?" I smirked at Isamu.

Foolish enough, he attempted to push his controlling powers into me and even released his vampire beast powers. I chuckled and then released Dolf’s powers and in that instant, Isamu was thrown back on the wall.

" What the fuck ?" Alexander moved back and placed a hand on his heart." What is going on? " He uttered.

" The two of you are no match for me. What makes you think you can take on my cousin Tizheruk? He will chew you into pieces and spit your bones out " I growled.
