Chapter 184: LEAVING CANADA

HUNTER’S POV

The last day in Canada made my heart ache knowing I was leaving Ma again behind with my siblings. Ma has insisted that we all had to follow our paths and she was happy I was mated to Tala.

When I walked to the living room with Ma, Tala was pacing up and down and must to my surprise that she did not want to leave Canada. Aspen sat on the left side of the couch and then Eliana and Elder Zaya on the other side. Luke was missing in action as he was in the pool with Addison and my old maid Elanor. They had blended in well and Elanor had taken over the kitchen and the villa chores since we got to Western Lake.

"Calm down, "Aspen whispered "You are making us dizzy.

"I am calm," Tala stated.

" Hi Tala" Ma spoke up and Tala turned to her. "Forego the greetings. I am here to bid you farewell,"

" That is kind of you Ma" Tala blushed.

" You need to keep each other safe. That is all I am asking. Lobo is bound to vent his anger on you but together you will stand strong " Ma stated.

"I hope that I can convince Conri to take over the pack. " Elder Zaya stated.

" Unless Lobo Aria is dead, you better keep your godson off pack matters." Eliana asserted.

" Luna Elijah is doing a good job so far, " I said.

" She is pregnant. They are bound to use it as an excuse to oust her" Tala seethed.

" Then we need to hurry back to Alaska, " Elder Zaya announced.

" We are leaving Luke with you, Mrs. Hemming. He will be safe from all the chaos that is back at home "

" I agree" Elder Zaya seconded.

" It will be my pleasure" Ma nodded and her smile lit the whole room up.

" I worry if you go back, Lobo will never let us be. And the enforcers will learn you are an Alpha and it will create more problems. And knowing your temper you will never let them off" Tala complained.

"I am hot-tempered. " I acknowledged. " But that is a good thing. It will keep the pack members at bay.

" That is so true " Elder Zaya stood up and everyone followed suit as we bid farewell and headed to Ottawa airport. The Hybrid that had been assigned by Commander Abram remained on guard even as we sped off from Westen Lake.

During the flight, Eliana huffed and sighed for almost half an hour.

"What is wrong with you? "Elder Zaya snapped at her

"I have no idea, but I feel the wolf is warning me that something is wrong around us. It has always been right. I just ignored the warning signs when Lupe died and then took them seriously when Ducian was in danger but she still died"

" The instincts of your wolf should not be ignored, ’’ Elder Zaya said in an assertive voice.

Those were the last words around us before we landed in Alaska. The cars that Elder Zaya had organized were already waiting for us. We drove towards Chugach. Elder Zaya and Elian rode in one car while Tala and I the other as I took in the streets feeling a pang of familiarness. Truth was that I was happy to be home and I smiled in relief and noticed the way Tala’s eyes twinkled at me as I felt the blush rise at the back of my neck. I looked at the window deflecting from her train of thoughts.

Tala’s phone buzzed and she received the call. I could see the worry in her face and then her face was filled with anger. " Does Ma know we are coming ?"

She listened in for a while and then responded " We are on our way" She disconnected the call. And then made another call before I could ask what was happening. But Tala was keen enough to know I was worried and took my hand in hers as her eyes pleaded with me to wait. I nodded at her as she spoke on the phone " Elder Zaya, it seems the pack has decided to remove Luna as the pack Alpha. Boris Carter and Keith Isla are already at the pack office. Luna is accompanied by Benjamin, Zeeb, Anisha, Everest, Levy, and Lucian"

My brows furrowed at the information and then Tala proceeded to say " Great. We are five minutes away" She disconnected the call.

" Did I hear right?" I demanded.

" You did," Tala growled.

" Which hole did Boris and Keith crawl from? Those fucking bastards" I growled.

" We need to take them down," Tala emphasized as she instructed the driver to take a detour to the packs. Once we entered, and alighted from the car we found a crowd gathering outside and when they spotted me they all gasped and hushed murmurs. I ignored them as I walked to the car behind me and opened the doors for Eliana and Elder Zaya. We marched into the pack’s office and by the time we were done, Luna was still the pack alpha.

I could see how everyone looked at me in a different light but I did not give a fuck or care about them. We walked into Luna’s office and she embraced me happily. " Welcome to the family Hunter Hemming and thank you for your support" She beamed.

" Thank you Alpha " I nodded at her and Tala who stood by the door beamed.

" I was not expecting you" She winked at Tala who rushed over Luna extended her arms wide and they embraced each other and then both of them burst into tears.

I took that as a cure for me to leave and rushed out citing " I will be in my office". Once the door closed, I noticed Benjamin who stood by the office door, and then his eyes bore to mine questioningly.

" Speak your mind, " I asked him.

"Not here" He stated.

" Coe to my office" I nodded and we left the pack alpha’s office and headed to mine. The enforces who stood by the corridors gave way as we moved through. Once we got to my office Benjamin closed the door as I walked around the desk and sat down. I was surprised that the office had been kept clean and a small smile played on my lips with the realization that Luna had been expecting me to come back.

" You are right. She was expecting you to come back. We can’t have Tala far away from her mother. They are still grieving the loss of Elijah. " Benjamin spoke as we learned by the door.

I nodded and leaned back on the chair waiting for him to speak.

" Are you back for good ?" He asked.

" Yes," I nodded.

" What about your family ?" He demanded.

" We shall visit them from time to time. " I informed Benjamin.

" I hope you will not change your mind now that you are mated to Tala and your Alpha wolf is no longer suppressed.

" I made a promise to her" Was the only response I gave Benjamin.

" Good. Now that you are back, Luna can rely on you to weed out the troublemakers" Benjamin nodded.

" That will be a piece of cake" I chuckled.

" Aren’t you afraid Lobo will come after you ?" Benjamin voices his concerns.

" I expect him to come after me. I will be waiting " I responded in an assertive voice.

" To bring you up to speak, Isamu, Lobo, and Zineb are in Sitka. I have a feeling they are going to attack soon. Hence Conri and Lucian will have a plan on how to handle them. But it seems that Lobo has moles in the pack and even the KODA council. Hence Luna wants you to cut the communication channels that Lobo has set up in the pack. "

" I had this in mind when I landed today. We can’t have moles around us. And I know Lobo well. I suggest we move Lyal from the KODA council jail and hide him well. "

" Why?" Benjamin asked.

" The only way Lobo is getting information is through Lyal. The pack moles get information to Lyal and then Lobo gets a way to call Lyal. "

" So that is the way to block the communication channels," Benjamin said thoughtfully.

" How about Chugach jail?" I suggested. " I have a guard there that is loyal to me. I can use him to watch over Lyal"

"Good. I will assist you tomorrow. I will also ask Everest and Levy to help. Leave Tala to spend time with Luna" Benjamin suggested.

" You sound like a father advising his son" I teased him and the door of the office opened before he could retort back and Tala walked in.

" The air in the room seems tense, are you scrutinizing your new son-in-law? ’’ Tala chuckled.

Benjamin shook his head before he responded " I can see why the two of you are made for each other"

" Ma is calling for you. She is tired and wants to go and rest. Hunter and I will remain in the pack office just in case. "

" Will you come home for dinner? " Benjamin asked as he opened the office door.

" Not today, " Hunter interjected. " We shall come tomorrow night"
