EVEREST POV

Levy and I watched the way Zineb acted like she never was part of the fact that Lyal disappeared. But the scent of the Hybrid wolf and the vampire blood around Zineb was so evident that it made Levy laugh.

The minute she left the hospital, we requested that the enforcers follow her closely to ascertain what she was doing.

"Does she think we are fools?" Levy snickers.

"I bet she does. Let us go to the Freki mansion and discuss this with Lucian.

We drove from the hospital to the Freki mansion. We found Tizheruk and Haida were already there, and then Lucian’s friend Commander Abram and Oliver, a member of the battalion, joined us.

"Wow "Levy’s jaw dropped.

"Why does Zineb Aria smell like you? " I pointed at Commande Abram.

"What?" Lucian and Conri both spoke at the same time.

"So it means that Isamu is at Lobo Aria’s home." Commander Abram nodded.

"You mean the Yakuza Hybrid leader that you were searching for? So he is the one who took Lyal from the hospital, " Levi noted.

"We were fooled by Zineb Aria," Everest cursed.

"Why would Lobo need Lyal?" Levy thought out loud.

"He must need his family close to him when he wields the power of the Tabular," Commander Abram informed us.

The sliding of the back doors alerted us that we had company.

Jerusha and Graham walked in, leaving Levy speechless. It was a rare occasion to be in the company of the Hybrids.

"Report, "Commander Abram commanded.

"We found him. He is hiding in the Cinnabar mines. He sent his wolves to distract us but a guard led us back to him unknowingly. Isamu is at the Lobo’s home. I scented him there an hour ago." Jerusha reported.

"Good job" Commander Abram nodded at Jerusha.

"I believe we are ready to go back for the hunt," Tizheruk said.

Lucian’s phone buzzed, and he answered on the first ring. " What is it, Zeeb?"

After a second or so, he yelled and said, " What the hell do you mean ?"

"What is it?" Conri demanded.

Lucian put the phone on speaker and then we heard Zeeb speak, " I have no idea who from the pack spread the rumours. There is a dead body in the forest of an enforcer. Ma asked me to inform you. The pack members are in fear since the rumor started about the Hybrid wolves. "

"What rumour? " Conri asked.

"Someone has spread the rumor in the pack that the Hybrid that killed Fridolf are friends of Lucian. And they killed the body that was found in the Chugach forest. Everyone is linking the killings to Lucian," Zeeb explained.

"Can you trace where the rumor came from ?" Everest demanded. " This is bad"

"The rumor came from Lobo’s men. We need to flash them out. It seems some are still in the pack, " Levy asserted.

"Benjamin needs to raid on them. I bet they started the rumor from his pub. He just needs to find out who started it and it will lead them to Lobo"

"What about Jaxton?" Levy pointed out.

"We already buried Gonzalo Carter and Jaxton has locked himself in the house. I doubt he had anything to do with it "Lucian explained.

"Let us not be too quick to dismiss him. He is a scorned man who has lost his mother. But He would still be loyal to Lobo, " Tizheruk stated.

"We need to go after Lobo, or better yet, get Isamu," Tizheruk announced. And we don’t need to delay even for a minute."

" We need to split up. Have those going after Isamu and we head to the Cinnabar mines after Lobo"

" Sounds like a good plan, " Lucian responded.

" Lucian, Conri, and Graham will head to the mountains. Jerusha and Oliver, you are with me. "

" Haida and I will go with Lucian and Conri," Tizheruk spoke.

" I will join Commander Abram with Levy" Everest stated.

" Then it settled, " Conri stated as we all left the Freki mansion heading in the planned direction.

It took us an hour to arrive near Lobo’s house. Commander Abram and Oliver slowed the pace and then nodded at Jerusha. He moved with speed towards the forest and disappeared in seconds.

" Where did he go ?" Levy asked.

" Backup" Oliver stated.

" I better join him" Everest stated.

" You will only slow him down. He will not agree, " Oliver chuckled.

" I think we should walk over and knock, " Levy stated.

" That would be best. Oliver and I will be at the back door to see who will leave," Commander Abram snickered, and they left us at the front gate of the house.

Levy rang the bell and leaned on the wall in waiting. In a few minutes, Zineb walked out and stood glaring at me and Everest.

’ What do you want ?" She snickered.

" I want to know how is it that the blood of a hybrid runs in your veins" Levy chuckled as he walked into the gate and stood towering at Zineb.

" What are you talking about " She seemed genuinely surprised.

" Are you a fool?" My eyes widened.

" Cut the crap and just say what you are trying to say. " Ziben put her hands on her waist and widened her legs. The stance was clear. She was ready for a fight.

" When he bit you, he sipped blood into your veins. You are slowly becoming a hybrid," Levy announced.

Zineb staggered back and gasped in shock.

" So where is Lyal ?" I demanded.

" What ?" Zineb seemed to be reeling in shock.

" I know that the Hybrid helped you get Lyal from the hospital. So where is he ?." I said as my eyes bore into the house.

" No idea " Zineb answered and she seemed to her composed herself. " I told you before, I had nothing to do with it"

In seconds, Commander Abram appeared and said " They left by the back door. Oliver is after them.

I raised my finger at Zineb " Think about what you did "

We left Lobo’s home and rushed after Isamu and Lyal. Levy was lagging as the Hybrid wolves were ten times faster than all of us.

" Commander Abram, you go ahead. We shall remain behind just in case they circle back. " I groaned and stood waiting for Levy.

" Fuck, these hybrids are so fast," Levy huffed.

" I have a feeling that that Isamu would never show them the way to where Lobo is. So he will round and we shall be on the losing end" I growled.

"It’s best we go back to Lobo’s home and wait " Levy suggested.

Hand in hand, we went back to Lobo’s house and then I sensed the presence of Jaxton Carter. We walked into the house and the door was open. Levy placed a hand on his lips as we tiptoed it and found Jaxton Carter had tied Zineb on the chair and a knife was placed on her neck.

" Step back" He growled and his eyes were wild and I scented the Cinnabar crystal in his breath.

" Do you think that the cinnabar will give you powers and make you strong ?" I demanded, while Zineb struggled to free herself.

" Yes. I know Lobo will come back for her, " Jaxton growled. He killed Ma and she was innocent. She never knew what Pa and Lobo were up to and he killed her"

" What does Zineb have to do with it ?" Levy asked as he majestically sat down on the couch and stared at Jaxton in anger.

" What? I thought you would understand me. Ralph Isla was killed, and you dare defend them?" Jaxton yelled.

" I do know who killed Pa. " Levy responded noncommittally and shrugged his shoulders.

" What ?" Jaxton whispered.

" You see, I know who killed Pa. Do you think I would not know? I am not a fool. And I dont have time to kidnap innocent women to get revenge," Levy snickered.

"You hypocrite" Jaxton grabbed Zineb’s neck and squeezed it. I tried to move forward but a loud growl was heard in the house and in seconds we all watched a tall hybrid, with long hair brown hair, and feral eyes move in a flash and snap Jaxton’s neck as then he dumped Lyal on the floor. He untied Zineb and then disappeared by the front door, carrying her in his arms.

" What the hell was that ?" Levy stood up hurriedly and attempted to follow him.

" Stop," I commanded him. " That is Isamu"

" What ?" Levy yelled. " We need to go after him"

" He is too strong for us. There is no way we would catch up with him. Stay put " I commanded Levy.

We all stared at Lyal, who was laying unconscious on the ground. I walked over to Jaxton and checked if he was breathing, only to discover that he was dead.

"He is dead, "I announced to Levy.

"Oh shit. " Levy rubbed his face in frustration.

I moved to check on Lyal and felt his heartbeat racing. " Stop pretending and wake up" I snapped at him.

His eyes snapped open, and then he sat up slowly. " That was the only way to act. How do you expect me to explain that a hybrid keeps kidnapping me? He got me from the hospital and brought me here. And now he has been running around the forest with me in his arms."

"Do you know who that is? How dangerous is he? He just snapped Jaxton’s neck in seconds and he is dead, "I scolded Lyal.

"I have heard of him. He is Isamu from the Yakuza. Born a vampire and then bitten by a wolf. He used magic from the Sea Serpent’s scales to extend his life. And now he seeks immortality. He has been guarding the Tabular crystal to suppress his vampire genes. A shifter wolf can only wield the Tabular crystal and hence he was not able to control it. He needs Lobo to use the crystal and then help him suppress the vampire genes. Word is that he also desires the Freki blood to make him immortal and have pups that are immortal. The world will not be a safe place as long as Isamu and Lobo exist"
