TIZHERUK’S POV

I hired a cab from the little town and headed back to Tochigo. I knew that Kyeiko’s life was hanging by a thread. But because of the wind and snow that picked up on the road we traveled at a snail pace. I did not want to draw any attention and hence opted to stay low as I donned a mask around my mouth and sunglasses.

We arrived at Tochigo an hour later and I heard from the hotel that Elder Zaya was staying. The security at the hotel was so tight and it made me realize that it was guarded by the Yakuza. Once the door opened, Haida stood on the other end and she moved forward and slapped me. I was so surprised that my jaw hung open and then she pulled me close and embraced me.

"I will not be forgiving next time. " She whispered as my hands went round her back and rubbed it slowly to comfort her.

" The slap was unnecessary " I whispered back but a small smile played on my lips as to how much fire she had.

" You deserved it " She hiccuped.

" How long are you going to embrace each other?" Elder Zaya’s voice rose from the room.

We moved apart hurriedly and Haida stepped aside for me to enter. I walked to the room and Elder Zaya stood up and opened her arms. I rushed and embraced her and all the anguish I felt since the attack vanished.

" I am glad you are alive, Bering. You did good" She patted my back.

" I am sorry I worried about you," I said apologetically.

" Apology accepted. " she moved away from the embrace.

" Where is Kyeiko? " I asked.

" Haida will take you, " She said, pointing at the far room.

Haida walked in front of me and I followed her to the room. Kyeiko was lying on the bed and the minute I walked in, his wolf stirred. I walked over and stood by the bed and then pushed the magic of my serpent out and felt that he had broken ribs, broken legs, and a little internal bleeding. " I want to rest" I deflected and saw anger flash in Haida’s eyes. She retreated and left the room.

" Go to sleep so that your mate can recover" I scolded and left the room.

Haida was nowhere to be seen as I walked back to the living room and Elder Zaya was seated with a middle-aged Japanese man.

" Come Bering " She raised her hand.

I walked over and then took her hand "This is my Godson Bering ’’ She introduced me to the man. " This is Kyeiko’s uncle Osuke who is one the guardians of the Tabular crystal"

I bowed to the man and he stood up defensively " Please I can’t accept your bow. Thank you for healing my Kyeiko"

" He protected me when we were ambushed. I owe him my life, " I stated.

" You are as honorable as Zaya stated. I know why you are here in Tochigo. But the guardians will never give you the crystal willingly " Osuke said.

"I don’t want the crystal." I started as I sat down. " I just want them to ensure that no one ever has access to the crystal. The Alpha of the Golden shifter pack is power hungry and is desperate for the crystal"

" Everyone in the shifter world wants the crystal. " Osuke snapped.

" No. That is not true. It is safe if the crystal stays hidden. But if it ever lands in the hands of the wrong person, many shifters will suffer. " I explained.

" The Adora would be a counter to the Tabular crystal" Osuke stated and his words made me realize that Elder Zaya had not told him about the Adora.

" But we don’t know where the Adora is " I lied.

" That is the quagmire " Osuke responded but the way he looked at me, I was sure he did not believe me.

" Would you have an idea of how we can trace the Adora crystal?" Elder Zaya asked.

" Word is that it’s in your home time. In the deep Alaskan mountains. It has been guarded by the serpent families for generations. That is why I am surprised that you have no idea about it" Osuke responded.

" I have memory loss from an old injury. If fate wanted me to find the crystal, I would have already found it. But it seems that is not the case. " I huffed.

" I better take my leave. I will organize a meeting with the guardians of the Tabular tomorrow. " Oseko stood up.

" I will appreciate all your help," Elder Zaya smiled.

Once he was out of the hotel room, Haida walked in and said " He is lying. He was here to find out if you knew the whereabouts of Adora. It seems that the guardians of the Tabular have always been searching for it. "

" We gathered. Is that why you did not tell him about it ?" I turned to Elder Zaya.

" Hello, " He answered
