I got to bed so late and drunk after I drowned myself bottle after bottle. I anguish and despair wondering why it was so difficult to trust someone and gain power.

"You are going soft," Aria growled.

"Shut up," I scolded him and closed my eyes to sleep.

I must have overslept, as I heard the loud knock on my bedroom door. I dragged myself from the bed and yanked the door open and Fridolf stood on the other side sipping a cup of coffee.

"What is it?" I demanded.

"Why are you still sleeping at midday?" He smirked.

I cursed and banged the door closed. "Go away! " I yelled at him.

"Alpha, Hunter is here to see you, "He yelled back as I listened to the chuckles that came after his words and his footsteps as he walked away.

"Fucking great, "I growled while I undressed and walked to the shower. I welcomed the cold water that hit my body as I stood there, getting my senses back. I wouldn’t say I liked all the problems that were cropping but and promised myself that I would nip them at the bud before they sprouted and made more chaos.

Half an hour later, I left my bedroom walked to the living room and found Hunter and Fridolf glaring at each other.

"To what do I owe this pleasure of your visit Hunter" I spoke up, interrupting the blazing war of eyes that was going on.

Hunter stood up in greetings and said, "Alpha, I came directly from the airport. I wanted to catch up on my family matters. "

"I heard your family is missing. Here are my two cents, " Fridolf interrupted.

"No one asked you. Alpha, why is he here in your home looking like he owns the place? "Hunter complained.

"Ignore him," I suggested to Hunter.

"Someone powerful enough to pay everyone to keep silent. And the only one with such power is Zaya Dolf or Lucian Freki. Now the question would be, why would they want your family? Unless your intended mate discovered that Lobo was using your family to ensure you remain loyal, hence removing that little obstacle would mean that you are free," Fridolf Piped.

"You have a mouth on you." Hunter seethed.

"But his analogy makes sense. "I raised an eyebrow.

"Yet here I am at your house amidst everything, " Hunter snapped at Fridolf.

"That is also true, "I chuckled.

Fridolf stood up and added "You could be faking it "

"I am not like you who does not value family," Hunter sneered.

"That is true. I do what benefits me. So I will find out who took your family and I can assure you it will lead back to them. They think family is good and they rely on each other, which is a weakness. Your mate might seem aloof, but I saw her once watching you. That is the look of someone in love"

"That is her fucking business. I don’t have time for love. " Hunter sat down and leaned on her chair in exhaustion.

" Have you ever slept ?" I demanded.

"No. How can I sleep?" His voice was filled with anguish.

" Go and rest. For now, we don’t have a word for one who did it, "I commanded him.

He nodded and stood up. Pointing at Fridolf, he said, "Don’t let this maniac be involved in the search. Everyone who gets involved with him ends up dead" And with that, he left my house while Fridolf muttered curses under his breath.

I walked to the kitchen and found Fridolf had prepared breakfast. I sat down after serving myself and he joined me at the side kitchen table as I ate in silence while refilling his coffee.

"You know that Hunter is bound to break. Especially now that his family is gone"

"What the fuck is your problem with him? " I snapped at Fridolf.

"The fact that he is more powerful than you worries me," Fridolf stated" You need to get the Tabular crystal fast. I could sense the crystal specs are wearing off and Hunter’s wolf is getting back its power"

"Shit," I cursed as the coffee burned my mouth from the shock of Fridolf’s words.

"You are getting comfortable, Lobo Aria. "Fridolf leaned back as his eyes blazed at me.

"What do you want?" I asked him. "You are not just here because Eliana threw you out of the house. "

"I want you to get your shit together. I had someone follow Zineb to Japan. "

"Stay away from her, "I growled.

"Oh Lobo, you sleazy sister is not my taste" Fridolf chuckled.

"You are a perverted old man, ’’ I growled.

"Your insults and growls don’t bother me. I need to ensure Zineb does not fail. And if she does, I will have someone do it. The BoryoKudan are greedy and they would take money, gold, or even gemstones. " Fridolf laughed.

"What the fuck are you planning?’ I demanded.

"You see, Lucian and Conri are smart. Donating the gold mine to the pack is a means of locking you out of the mines. Hence, I used my people to use the water tunnels to dig through the bottom of the mines. And finally, I was able to get the gold. "He announced.

My jaw dropped when I felt Aria stir happily.

"Really?" I yelled.

"Yet you were ready to chase me away, "He snickered.

"How are you transporting the gold?" I asked, with intrigue.

"The water channel. "He shrugged. "No one will suspect a damn thing"

I burst out laughing and said, "Fridolf Due, you are one crazy bastard. "

"You need to thank me now," he said.

"Thank you. I have been so caught up in many problems with the pack that I was distracted. "I confessed.

"Do you realize that all these problems were caused so that you can be distracted from your path? You are so naive, Lobo. I thought I trained you well. But just a little trouble and you lost sight of our primary goal. I worked hard to get Ralph Isla on our side, and he ended up dead. Thank God Boris, Keith, and Jaxton can still be used. And you were caught in the lie of Sasha Freki. That bitch is so much trouble that the first thing we need to do is send her back to Texas."

"She is a loose cannon. If she had not come with Luke, Zineb and Layal would not have been exposed. Now Lyal is in jail and Zineb is labeled a liar. That is not what I want for my family. "

"Shut your fucking mouth, " He responded and then walked out of the house as I heard the door bang.

" You are truly evil, Fridolf. I better be careful from now on. " I muttered.

I took time to clean up the kitchen and put everything away. An hour later, I was out of the house, driving to the pack offices. I realized that the sun was almost setting, and I had never arrived this late for the office. Entering the pack office, I found the place packed with enforcers and they all piped "Good evening Alpha"

"Why are you all here and not out doing your work? Who the fuck have you permission to hover around the pack office?" I barked, and everyone scattered.

Hunter must have heard my voice as he walked out of his office. " Good evening Alpha, do you need anything? "

"I instructed you to go home, " I seethed.

"I did" He raised his hands to indicate his change of clothes.

I huffed, turned around, and left for my office. He followed me and once the door closed, he announced, " We already released Lyal’s decor. I went to the KODA council to visit Lyal, and he seemed so comfortable at the jail that it surprised me. Is he okay?"

"I worry about how comfortable he has gotten. " I snapped.

"What do you need me to do ?"

"Go on about your work and leave me alone, " I retorted and sat down.

He nodded and left my office. I was once again left in the solitude of all the problems, but Fridolf’s voice rang in my head." You have gotten comfortable Lobo Aria"

The buzzing on my phone was a welcoming distraction, and the caller ID made me smile. It was Zineb who was calling, and I connected the call and asked, "Do you have good news for me?"

"I found the Tabular Crystal. The BoryoKudan struck a deal and succeeded. But I need additional gold to get up the mountain. "

"I am sending Boris and Keith to you with the gold. Sit tight sister," I stated and disconnected the call.

I made a call to Fridolf, and he answered immediately, " What is it ?"

"We found the Tabular crystal, "I announced.

"It seems the little pep talk I have you worked. "He chuckled.

"But I need the gold," I added. "It needs to leave for Japan immediately"

"I will take it myself. I don’t trust anyone. " He announced.

"Take Boris and Keith with you. They can offer cover for you," I instructed.

"Fine. " He disconnected the call.

"Oh Lucian Freki, you have no idea what is coming your way," I laughed happily.
