Chapter 361: 361. Liar

His gaze was as if coated in a layer of ice, freezing Xia Yumo in place. "Xia Yumo, this time, it’s truly over between us."

He turned and walked away, but after a few steps, he paused with his back to her. "Don’t worry, I’ll handle things with my mom."

Only when she heard Gu Junhang’s footsteps fading further away did Xia Yumo realize that she had no strength left. She silently sat down on the bench and stared blankly.

Lu Moqing was restless in his sleep due to stomach bleeding and woke up after a short while.

The moment he opened his eyes, he instinctively searched for Qiao Xu’s figure. The room was dimly lit, but the warm night light allowed Lu Moqing to see everything in the ward.

Qiao Xu had left.

This realization made Lu Moqing’s heart suddenly sink, and a familiar pain surged through him.

He sat up in bed leaning against the headboard, and after a long silence, he let out a self-mocking laugh. His voice was hoarse: "Liar."

Finally, he could truly understand what Qiao Xu felt when she was waiting for him at home back then.

He deserved it! He really did!

He covered his face with his hands, laughing hoarsely. Each laugh sounded more suppressed than the last, seeming more like a cry of sadness than laughter.

After a long time, the painful, intolerable laughter faded. Lu Moqing took his hands off his face, got up, and walked to the water dispenser. He poured himself a glass of water while holding his still aching stomach.

The ward door was suddenly pushed open from the outside. Lu Moqing’s movements halted as he looked up sharply toward the entrance.

At the moment the figure he had been longing for appeared in his line of sight, a light illuminated the darkness within his eyes, and a smile spread across his face.

Even his hand trembled with excitement, and a few drops of scalding water spilled onto his hand, but he didn’t feel the pain.

Qiao Xu saw the tall figure standing by the water dispenser as soon as she walked in, and he was looking at her with a joyous expression.

His appearance seemed like he had gotten a treasure he had been dreaming of, and his usually calm face was now brimming with an unrestrained smile.

"You’re back."

His voice was soft, hoarse from the excess drinking, but it couldn’t hide the joy in his words.

Qiao Xu paused by the door, and the next moment, she turned on the light in the ward, making the room as bright as day.

Lu Moqing walked towards her with a childish, apprehensive, and delighted face. "I thought you left."

There was a hint of grievance in his low, raspy voice.

Qiao Xu looked at him, her lips pressed together, and frowned when she realized that she could still feel her heart soften towards Lu Moqing.

"Xuxu?"

Seeing her silent, Lu Moqing couldn’t help but softly call out her name.

Qiao Xu came back to her senses, glanced at him, and said, "Sit down."

Lu Moqing looked at her thoughtfully, and for some reason, a familiar uneasiness arose in his heart.

He sat down as instructed, while Qiao Xu pulled a chair to sit in front of him. She looked very calm as she spoke, "Tell me, what did you find?"

Lu Moqing was taken aback and did not understand what Qiao Xu was referring to. He looked at her in confusion, only to hear her say, "Eight years ago, Jinyun Hotel."
