Chapter 48. Isaac’s Stalking.

Chapter 48: 48. Isaac’s Stalking.

Isaac sat in a dimly lit room, the weight of the report he had just torn to shreds hanging in the air. His hands trembled slightly, but not from weakness—no, it was anger. A slow, simmering rage filled his chest as he thought about his little brother, Adrian, and the torment he must have endured in the Hudel Mansion.

Luri, who was lounging nearby, raised an eyebrow as she watched Isaac shred the last of the report. She tossed a throw pillow across the room, hitting Isaac square in the back. "Is there some reason you’re tearing up my carefully compiled reports, Isaac? You know, you could at least pretend to care about the work I do."

Isaac shot her a glare over his shoulder. "I don’t need this garbage anymore. I’m done with investigating. I’m going to handle things my way."

Luri let out a dramatic sigh. "Oh, great. Here we go again. Is this the part where you throw yourself headfirst into danger without a plan? Because I’ve been meaning to get life insurance if you’re planning on dragging me along."

Isaac rolled his eyes, his irritation barely masked by the smirk on his face. "Don’t worry, I don’t need you for this one. Besides, aren’t you always complaining about how I ’never’ use the door?"

Luri raised her hands in mock surrender. "Guilty as charged! That’s because I have doors for a reason, Isaac! Seriously, I don’t install these fancy things for you to ignore them. You keep breaking my windows like it’s some sort of hobby."

Isaac grinned, making his way toward the window. "I find windows to be faster. Plus, they offer a better view."

Luri crossed her arms and pointed to the door, a wicked smile playing on her lips. "Really? Because the last time you used a window, you fell into a rose bush. Remember how graceful that was?"

Isaac, now with one foot on the window sill, shot her a look that could kill. "Do you ever shut up?"

"Not when you’re doing something this stupid." She raised an eyebrow. "Which is about 90% of the time."

Isaac’s eyes narrowed. "Keep talking, and I’ll leave you to handle the mess at the Hudel Mansion yourself."

"Oh no, please don’t leave me behind," Luri said sarcastically, grabbing the doorknob as if to challenge him to use the door. "I can’t imagine how I’ll survive without your incredible sense of direction that usually leads us into trap after trap."

Isaac snorted. "Like you’d be any better at it. Your ’brilliant’ plan last time got us locked in that warehouse for three hours."

Luri threw her hands up in mock exasperation. "At least I don’t blast telescopes when I see something I don’t like! Speaking of which, you might want to cool it. That thing cost you a fortune, and now you’re down one surveillance device."

Isaac’s face darkened at the reminder. That telescope actually cost him a fortune as it was a collection of an old man.

Over at the Levistis manor, things were far more peaceful—at least for the moment. Adrian was curled up on the couch, his laptop resting on his rounded stomach as he scrolled through an online shopping site, browsing toys and clothes for the twins he and Ethan were expecting. His hand absentmindedly stroked his belly as he smiled softly to himself, feeling the gentle movements inside.

Augustin, who sat next to him, grinned as he peeked over Adrian’s shoulder. "Those are cute. You should get them. Especially those little onesies—oh, and the matching shoes!"

Adrian laughed, nodding. "Yeah, I think I will. Lucas was right; I should prepare now before they get here."

"Speaking of the twins, did you already tell Ethan about it?"

"Yeah, I told him. He’s... a little worried about my health, but you know him. He’s always overthinking things."

Augustin chuckled. "Of course. Typical Ethan. Always the protective husband."

Adrian smiled brightly, his heart swelling with happiness. "I don’t mind, though. I love that he cares so much."

As the two continued to chat and browse online, Leclair and Ethan were at the hospital, discussing Leclair’s leg recovery. The doctor was pleased with the progress and informed them that with some more therapy, Leclair would soon be able to walk without assistance. Ethan had insisted on coming along, refusing to let Leclair go to the appointment alone.

"Looks like you’ll be back on your feet in no time," Ethan said, smiling at his elder brother.

Leclair nodded, his usual stern expression softening slightly. "It’s been a long time coming. I appreciate you being here."

"You’d do the same for me," Ethan replied, giving his brother a reassuring pat on the shoulder.

Back at Isaac’s hideout, the scene was far less serene. After setting up another telescope, Isaac gazed through it to check on Adrian again. But as he watched, his temper flared once more. His little brother, so beautiful and innocent, was pregnant—pregnant by someone Isaac deemed a beast.

---

Ethan and Leclair stepped out of the car, the sun already setting over the sprawling Levistis manor. Ethan glanced over at his elder brother, who seemed in better spirits after the hospital visit. The doctor had confirmed that Leclair’s recovery was progressing well, and soon he would be able to walk without assistance. The thought brought a small smile to Ethan’s usually serious face.

"You’ve got this, brother," Ethan said, giving Leclair a reassuring nudge.

Leclair smirked back. "I know. But don’t think I’ll need you hovering over me once I’m back on my feet."

Ethan chuckled as they walked inside. The warmth of the mansion greeted them, and they could hear distant chatter from the living room. As soon as they entered, Augustin appeared, eagerly approaching Leclair.

"Did everything go well?" Augustin asked, eyes wide with concern but also excitement. Leclair nodded, and Augustin’s face lit up with a relieved smile. "That’s amazing news!"

Leclair wrapped an arm around Augustin’s waist. "Come on, let’s go upstairs. I need to sit down for a bit." They both exchanged a glance that carried a quiet understanding between them before disappearing upstairs, leaving Ethan to find his way to the living room.

Ethan’s eyes immediately found Adrian, who was lounging on the sofa, completely absorbed in browsing something on his laptop. His rounded stomach peeked out slightly from under his loose shirt, making Ethan’s heart swell with affection. Adrian looked even more beautiful in his natural state—relaxed, at home, and glowing with the life growing inside him. Ethan’s gaze lingered on him for a moment before a mischievous smile spread across his face.

He quietly walked over and sat down beside Adrian, slipping his arm around his waist.

"Miss me?" Ethan whispered, his voice a low murmur close to Adrian’s ear.

Adrian jumped slightly, startled by the sudden contact, but quickly relaxed when he realized it was Ethan. His cheeks flushed a soft pink, and he bit his lip, embarrassed by how easily Ethan could fluster him. "You scared me," Adrian muttered, though his voice was playful, his lips twitching into a shy smile.

Ethan leaned closer, brushing his lips against Adrian’s ear. "I’ve been thinking about you all day," he whispered, his fingers tracing small circles on Adrian’s side. "Couldn’t wait to come home to you."

Adrian’s heart fluttered at the words, his blush deepening. He tried to maintain composure, but the warmth spreading through him made it impossible. "Ethan, stop..." Adrian mumbled, though his voice lacked conviction, and his hand instinctively found Ethan’s chest.

Ethan chuckled, his deep voice sending shivers down Adrian’s spine. "Stop? But you like it when I flirt with you, don’t you?"

Before Adrian could respond, Ethan tilted his head and caught Adrian’s lips in a soft kiss, silencing any protest. Adrian’s breath hitched, but soon he melted into the kiss, his hand tightening on Ethan’s shirt. The kiss was gentle at first, but it quickly deepened as Ethan pressed closer, his hand slipping beneath Adrian’s shirt to rest on his slightly swollen belly.

Adrian gasped at the touch, breaking the kiss to breathe, his eyes fluttering open. Ethan’s gaze was filled with affection and something more—something that made Adrian’s pulse quicken. "You’re beautiful, you know that?" Ethan murmured, his lips ghosting over Adrian’s as he spoke. "Every day, I fall more in love with you."

Adrian, now blushing furiously, could hardly meet Ethan’s gaze. "E-Ethan... don’t say things like that so casually," he stammered, trying to hide his face in Ethan’s shoulder.

Ethan laughed softly, pulling Adrian closer. "Why not? It’s the truth." He leaned in again, pressing a trail of soft kisses along Adrian’s jawline, down his neck, making Adrian squirm slightly in his hold.

"I love you, Adrian," Ethan whispered between kisses, his hand moving gently over Adrian’s stomach as he spoke. "And our babies... I can’t wait to meet them."

Adrian felt his heart swell at Ethan’s words. His body was tingling with the warmth of Ethan’s touch, and though he felt shy, he couldn’t stop himself from responding. His hands slid up to Ethan’s shoulders, pulling him closer. "I love you too, Ethan," Adrian whispered back, his voice soft but sincere. The two shared a long, tender kiss, lost in their moment together.

Meanwhile, several blocks away, Isaac sat hunched over his telescope, watching the scene unfold through the lens with an expression of disbelief and anger. His grip on the telescope tightened as he saw Ethan kissing Adrian and touching his baby brother with such intimacy.

The sight of Adrian responding to Ethan’s touch, his soft blush and the way he leaned into Ethan’s kisses, made Isaac’s blood boil. That beast—how dare he touch his little brother like that? The telescope wobbled as Isaac’s fury rose.

And then it happened again.

Snap!

The telescope cracked under the pressure of Isaac’s hands, and with a growl of frustration, he yanked it away from his face and hurled it across the room. It smashed against the wall, pieces scattering across the floor.

Luri, who had been lounging nearby, raised an eyebrow, unfazed by the outburst. "There goes another one. You know, Isaac, telescopes aren’t cheap. Maybe next time try not to destroy them just because you can’t handle seeing your baby brother being loved?"

Isaac shot her a dark look, his fists still clenched. "Shut up."

Luri rolled her eyes. "Hey, I’m just saying. Maybe you should consider a new hobby that doesn’t involve surveillance and anger issues."

Isaac ignored her, still seething as he glared at the broken pieces of his telescope. He couldn’t stand the thought of Ethan touching Adrian—his sweet, innocent brother—especially now that he knew the truth about their connection. But as much as the thought infuriated him, there was little he could do at the moment.

One thing was for sure, though. This wasn’t over.
