Chapter 610: Running Away 3
"Hehe..."
The woman clapped suddenly making Mo Roulan look at her.
She was smiling widely something which made Mo Roulan confused. It was only when she noticed the woman’s gaze on her lips that she realized that the woman was laughing because she smiled.
Mo Roulan chuckled seeing this.
She looked at the woman for a moment longer.
The woman was very beautiful. Before she couldn’t see in the darkness of the room...but if one ignored the wrinkles on her face and how thin her body was, she could be called beautiful.
Mo Roulan then supported her again and walked forward amongst the trees with the stick which was lit with fire in her other hand.
However, soon Mo Roulan realized that the animals in the forests were not the only problem she had to face.
It was more than that.
It was when she heard someone’s voice.
"Hey, I can see fire. I guess those bitches are around. Catch them! Boss will give us a huge reward if we caught them."
The words settled panic in her heart and when she heard the sounds of footsteps, Mo Roulan immediately threw away the fire stick in her hand on the ground amidst the sand.
Then she started running away from there.
She was worried when she heard the whimpers of the woman by her side....suddenly remembering that she had injuries on her body and hence couldn’t run.
Mo Roulan could feel that someone was following her and from the footsteps, it seemed that there was not one person but many.
She couldn’t take the risk of being caught.
So she stopped and picked the woman in her arms.
Though the woman was heavy, Mo Roulan could manage it because she was very thin.
"Hold me tight"
She said and then after taking a deep breath she started running as fast as she could.
It was difficult but the fear of what could happen if she was caught didn’t let her stop at all.
She only stopped when she couldn’t hear the footsteps at all.
Leaning against the tree, Mo Roulan let the woman stand on her feet and then she herself sat down and breathed heavily.
Her body was covered with sweat and the cold wind of the night gave her some relief.
Mo Roulan wondered if they should walk ahead.
It was difficult to see at night in the dark without fire. Those men might have torches in their hands and would be able to find their way but she didn’t even know which way she was supposed to go.
She was actually afraid that she was going more inside the forest instead of going out.
But she could only walk ahead without thinking anything.
Heaving a sigh, Mo Roulan said softly
"We will rest here today."
The woman looked at her and then sat down on the ground.
"No...don’t lie down on the ground."
Mo Roulan held her arm when she saw that the woman was about to lie down on the ground. It was cold.
She didn’t have any other choice than to sit on the ground but she couldn’t let the woman lie down there.
"Come here"
Mo Roulan spread her legs and pointed at her lap.
The woman looked at her for a moment before she obediently laid her head on Mo Roulan’s lap.
Mo Roulan leaned against the tree as she looked at her.
"What is your name?"
She asked in a whisper but the woman didn’t reply.
She had not spoken a single word since Mo Roulan had first seen her so Mo Roulan was not surprised.
She sighed as she leaned against the tree.
The woman slept but Mo Roulan didn’t.
She needed to stay awake to ensure that they would not be caught.
Though Mo Roulan tried her best, she still couldn’t fight the exhaustion that came over her body and hence around midnight, after a long fight with herself, she still fell asleep.
However, she woke up immediately when she heard the rustling of leaves.
Her whole body was on alert as she looked around.
Mo Roulan’s eyes stopped at the bushes where she could a pair of eyes. She recognized it very well because she was not seeing it for the first time.
It was a wolf.
Even though she had fought with a wolf two years ago as well, her body still went cold.
Mo Roulan pretended to be completely still as her hand searched for something around herself.
Her hand was just able to find a wooden stick when the wolf suddenly pounced towards her. Immediately, she threw the woman aside from her lap. She did hear the woman’s scream but at this moment, she could pay attention only to the wolf.
The wolf was on top of her body and had already opened his mouth to eat her flesh but Mo Roulan held it away.
He growled loudly and she controlled her trembling.
The wooden stick had fallen down from her hands long ago.
She was trying to fight it with her hands only.
She could feel its nail making scratches on her arm and her body. It hurt but she could only suppress her whimpers.
In the end, the wolf was stronger than her.
Mo Roulan could feel it overcoming her hands’ strength. Its sharp teeth were reaching her flesh gradually. Just when she thought that she was about to die, the wolf growled loudly and Mo Roulan felt him going completely still the next second.
Mo Roulan herself was still.
She lay on the ground with a blank mind.
It was only when heard a whimper that she came out of her trance and threw the wolf away immediately.
When she got up from the ground, she finally saw the stick which had stabbed the wolf deeper in its back. It could be seen in his stomach from his front as well.
Mo Roulan’s eyes then went to the woman who had saved her life.
Her eyes softened when she saw fear in her eyes.
She immediately walked to her and hugged her in her arms.
"It’s alright...you did great. You saved me just now."
She could understand. She herself had been in a great shock after she had killed the wolf but at that time, she didn’t have time to ponder on her emotions.
Her brother’s life was in danger so she could have only compose herself.
The woman stopped trembling after Mo Roulan comforted him for some time.
Mo Roulan thought that it would be good if they walked away from here now. Many other wild animals could come here after smelling the flesh of dead wolf.
But before she could say or do anything, she again heard rustling of leaves and this time it was no animal.
Seeing the flashlight of torches from far away, she knew that those people who were looking for them were nearby.
"We need to leave."
She said slowly and then immediately held the woman’s hand. Now even if Mo Roulan wanted she could not carry the woman in her arms.
Her whole body was aching because of the weight of the wolf she had borne just a few moments ago. Combined with that, she had many scratches on her body.
So they walked slowly.
She sighed in relief when they were again successful in leaving the men far behind.
But Mo Roulan knew that she needed to do something really soon. They couldn’t be saved every time so she kept walking.
Fortunately, the woman by her side didn’t complain at all.
Mo Roulan’s own body ached but she still continued walking.
.
.
.
The night was about to pass now.
The sun had not risen yet but Mo Roulan could see the sky brightening up slowly and slowly.
They were still walking.
In the light, she finally realized why her leg was aching. It seemed that she had wound on her leg because her pant was covered with red blood and she found it difficult to walk with every passing second.
Her face was covered with sweat.
Mo Roulan was worried that she wouldn’t be able to walk for long.
She needed to stop for bleeding.
As she thought this, she stiffened on hearing the sound of rustling of leaves again.
Mo Roulan hurriedly dragged the woman behind the nearby tree. Her eyes were filled with fear and panic. She looked at the ground trying to find any wooden stick because that was the only thing she could use as weapon here in the forest.
But suddenly she heard the voices of the people who were coming towards them.
"Mr. He, I think we need an helicopter to look around the forest from above once."
"I will ask my assistant to arrange it immediately."
The familiar voice that Mo Roulan heard almost brought tears to her eyes.
Mo Roulan moved her body and tried to look from behind the tree at the people who were standing a few steps away.
She just wanted to ensure that she was right.
When her eyes fell on He Jian amongst the policemen, her whole body relaxed.
But when Mo Roulan turned around again to hold woman’s hand and bring her to He Jian with herself, her eyes went wide seeing the scene in front of her.
A man was standing in front of her with a gun in his hand which was placed against the woman’s temple. The woman looked confused about everything while Mo Roulan looked at her with fear filled eyes.
"Sshh..."
The man signed Mo Roulan and Mo Roulan understood.
If she made a noise, then he will kill the woman.
Mo Roulan clenched her fists and nodded her head.
The man signed her to follow him quietly. He also signed Mo Roulan to walk in the front indicating the direction.
Mo Roulan nodded her head and did as he asked.
She walked a few steps and her heart clenched when she heard the sound of footsteps.
Was He Jian walking away?
She was so close...if she didn’t do anything now then she might not get any such opportunity again.
Mo Roulan’s eyes were filled with tears as she looked at the ground in helplessness.
Then her eyes flashed suddenly.
She had the last chance.
So she swiftly bent down to the ground, picked some sand and then threw it in the man’s eyes.
"B***h"
The man groaned as he rubbed his eyes with his one hand. His other hand had gun so Mo Roulan took this as an opportunity to drag the woman on her side.
"He Jian!"
She shouted immediately and tried to limp as fast as she could towards the direction where she had seen He Jian.
On the other hand, He Jian heard the shout immediately.
From how far he had walked away from Mo Roulan in that few moments, it was difficult for anyone to hear Mo Roulan’s voice. Even the policemen and He Zhuang didn’t hear anything.
However, he stopped amidst his steps and said
"Lanlan is here."
Everyone stopped and looked at him with a frown on his forehead.
However, when everyone had stopped walking, it was all silent and hence when Mo Roulan shouted again, many of them heard her voice.
"He Jian!"
The policemen as well as He Zhuang looked in the direction while He Jian had already started running in the same direction.
When he came out of the dense trees in the open ground, his eyes immediately fell on his Lanlan who was limping towards him.
He Jian didn’t notice the woman whose hand Mo Roulan was holding. His eyes were solely on Mo Roulan.
They were filled with relief when he saw her.
But soon his eyes went to the men whom he saw behind Mo Roulan. His eyes widened when he saw the gun in his hands which was pointed in Mo Roulan’s direction.
"Lanlan!"
He shouted as he ran towards her as fast as he could.
The loud sound of gunshot sounded making the birds fly away from the trees and everything went completely silent after that.
