Chapter 123: 123. A Walk Belonging to the Night (Thanks to Alliance Hierarch Aze! 3/5)

The long table was filled with dishes of various sizes.

And what you couldn’t possibly miss here was the kimchi.

Because of Liu Xin’an’s arrival, tonight’s dinner was very sumptuous; the beef and ribs he brought had also been turned into delicious dishes by Bae’s mother, neatly arranged on the dining table.

After everyone was seated, Bae’s father raised his glass filled with the Moutai Liu Xin’an had brought.

Similarly, Liu Xin’an also raised his small glass, while Bae’s mother and the sisters, Bae Juhyun and her sister, both drank cola.

After a toast, the "family banquet" officially began.

When eating, there wasn’t much to say; Bae’s mother warmly served Liu Xin’an the dishes. It had to be said that, although it was still Korean food which Liu Xin’an didn’t often eat, the homemade Korean meals were quite different from those ordered as takeout.

Liu Xin’an preferred the taste of the dishes made by Bae’s mother, a sentiment he thought Bae Juhyun would share with him.

The conversation at dinner revolved more around Liu Xin’an. Bae’s parents were still very curious about him and asked many questions about how he and Bae Juhyun had met.

As for Liu Xin’an himself, he didn’t think the process of meeting and falling in love with Bae Juhyun was anything worth talking about; however, when he casually recounted their time together using a light-hearted tone, it surprisingly elicited an expression of astonishment from Bae’s parents.

The other focus of the conversation, Bae Juhyun, was a lot more reserved. She quietly sat on one side, sipping her coke in small gulps, occasionally giving Liu Xin’an warning looks through narrowed eyes, signaling "that’s enough, but keep it within limits."

Pointless talk; she had embarrassed herself in front of Liu Xin’an so many times; if all that were to be disclosed to her family, she would definitely find a hole to crawl into.

Luckily, Liu Xin’an did give Bae Juhyun enough face, which pleased her greatly.

After dinner, "King of Cramming" Liu Xin’an began his hyper-dedicated activities once again.

He first helped Bae’s mother tidy up the dining table and then went on to wash everyone’s dishes.

His proficient methods didn’t escape Bae’s mother’s notice—clearly, it wasn’t a show; Liu Xin’an obviously had a habit of doing dishes.

The way other people’s children were brought up truly made Bae’s mother curious, and likewise, she didn’t forget to cast a complicated look towards her own two daughters.

Bae Jinhee shivered slightly and quickly nudged her elder sister with her elbow before whispering, "Sis, your boyfriend isn’t doing this on purpose, is he?"

Bae Juhyun pursed her lips. If only he were doing it on purpose; the most annoying part was that Liu Xin’an really was just that diligent...

If it were deliberate, she could have accused Liu Xin’an of something, but this was just his normal habit!

"He’s always like this at home."

"Eh? Really? Do such men even exist?"

Bae Jinhee wasn’t young anymore and had certainly dated before, but the men she met were nowhere close to Liu Xin’an... She was utterly outshone by her sister’s boyfriend.

Be it looks, personality, or even work...

This made Bae Jinhee consider perhaps she should also find a boyfriend from Huaxia in the future.

Her sister’s disbelief made Bae Juhyun proudly curl up the corner of her mouth. See? Such an excellent guy, he’s hers!

Compliments from others regarding Liu Xin’an couldn’t compare to the praise from her own family. She grinned and moved close to Liu Xin’an, tenderly helping him roll up his sleeves.

Hmm... just rolling up the sleeves, with no intention to help.

You, Liu Xin’an, love to be busy, don’t you? Then let’s leave all the work to you!

After all, when their mom scolds her and Jinhee, it went in one ear and out the other, the painless reprimanding was much better than dealing with water washing dishes.

And his girlfriend’s... feigned concern left Liu Xin’an somewhat speechless.

"Oh, you’re helping me just like that?"

He teased Bae Juhyun, earning a sweet smile from her.

"Hurry and wash, then we can go out for a stroll."

After all, he and Bae’s father only drank a small cup of Moutai each, and Bae’s father’s alcohol tolerance was much worse than he had expected...

He couldn’t continue drinking with Bae’s father already tipsy, so after one cup, he also switched to cola.

"Going out tonight?"

"Yeah, come with me for a walk."

"Alright."

Bae Juhyun’s request was something he would never refuse. They rarely got the chance for an official outing, and neither Bae Juhyun nor Liu Xin’an wanted to miss it.

After they had finished cleaning the dishes, Liu Xin’an and Bae Juhyun put on their coats. At Bae Juhyun’s strong insistence, they also took the camera with them.

Bae Juhyun was worried that Liu Xin’an returning with her might affect his work, so part of the reason she wanted to take him out at night was also to shoot a vlog of Liu Xin’an.

Bae Jinhee wisely did not accept Liu Xin’an’s invitation. She excused herself citing some matters to attend to and returned to her room.

Thus, the post-dinner stroll was just between Liu Xin’an and Bae Juhyun.

Since it had already gotten dark, Bae Juhyun didn’t go all out with her outfit. There was no wind tonight, so she let her beautiful long hair flow freely, while her delicate face was covered by a mask.

Her face was very small, and the mask covered most of it. Coupled with the pitch-black night, recognizing her was not so easy.

Liu Xin’an looked no different from in the afternoon.

"How exactly do you want to shoot your vlog?"

Bae Juhyun moved closer to Liu Xin’an, who was fiddling with the camera, curiously sizing it up.

She was very familiar with this stuff; the portable GoPro indeed was the best choice for shooting vlogs.

But how to put it... without a script or crew, she really didn’t know how Liu Xin’an managed to talk so freely in front of the camera.

This was where Bae Juhyun overestimated Liu Xin’an.

Liu Xin’an’s vlogs were always either post-dubbed or subtitled.

Original sound?

There will be, but very few.

This time, Liu Xin’an felt the same. He decided not to use the original sound, trying to minimize the exposure of Bae Juhyun as much as possible.

After all, she wouldn’t watch his videos anyway, which was why, even after being "early to bed" and double-crossed by Li Chenglu in the afternoon, he wasn’t troubled at all.

Since Bae Juhyun doesn’t watch his videos~ he thought he might edit them however he wanted~

"Just film casually, and when the time comes, just make the editing interesting."

"Oh, just don’t forget to include bilingual subtitles this time, I will be watching it."

Liu Xin’an’s smile froze on his face.

"You’re going to watch?"

"Can’t I watch?"

"No... Of course! Do! From now on, I’ll make bilingual subtitles for you!"

"You don’t have to do that for games or anything; I am not interested in those. But your personal vlogs, it would be nice if they could have bilingual subtitles."

Bae Juhyun waved her hand; Liu Xin’an’s job was already hard enough, and she didn’t want to make it any tougher for him.

"That’s really too bad. My gaming videos are the essence of my work."

"Geez, I noticed you’ve become more slick since you left my house. Just a moment ago you looked so honest."

Bae Juhyun laughed. She truly regretted not capturing Liu Xin’an’s cautious demeanor from a short while ago. Now that he wasn’t in front of her parents, was Liu Xin’an’s true nature starting to show?

Liu Xin’an, uninterested in responding to Bae Juhyun, picked up a GoPro and started filming the nearby area.

The night view in Daegu was quite nice. Although it wasn’t as bustling as a big city like Seoul, this serene and peaceful atmosphere was indeed refreshing.

While filming, Bae Juhyun suddenly burst into the frame, unveiled her mask, and perfectly showed the demeanor expected of an artist. Her stunningly beautiful smile made Liu Xin’an grin.

"Careful, I might just publish this segment without editing it."

"Go ahead and post it."

Knowing Liu Xin’an would never actually do that, Bae Juhyun wasn’t the least bit scared by his threat.

"All right, put your mask back on. It would be troublesome if someone recognized you."

"Scaredy-cat, there’s hardly anyone around here. What are you afraid of?"

"Hey! It’s not about me being scared; I am just worried about your career."

"Nice try, you’re just chicken."

Despite verbally challenging Liu Xin’an, Bae Juhyun willingly moved closer to him and wrapped her arms around his, curving her beautiful eyes.

"Want some coffee?"

Bae Juhyun spotted a cafe by the street and pointed towards it while asking Liu Xin’an.

Liu Xin’an shook his head. He wasn’t a local and didn’t have a habit of drinking coffee, but since Bae Juhyun had asked, it meant she wanted some, so even after shaking his head, Liu Xin’an decided to get one for her.

"Hold the camera and wait for me."

"Okay."

Bae Juhyun took the camera, curiously pressed some buttons, then pointed the lens at herself.

It wasn’t that she was being vain; it was just an artist’s reflex...

After flashing a few beautiful smiles at the camera, Bae Juhyun suddenly realized what she was doing. Her face flushed, and she hurriedly deleted the video she had just taken.

Her beauty was, as always, impeccable, but she might be terribly embarrassed if Liu Xin’an found out about her vain moment... Even if he didn’t tease her, she would probably find it hard to face him.

So this kind of thing absolutely no way!

No way, no way!

Bae Juhyun didn’t wait long before Liu Xin’an returned from the shop with a cup of coffee in his hands.

He first took the camera from Bae Juhyun, then handed her the well-behaved cup of coffee.

"What happened?"

Perhaps because Bae Juhyun seemed different from the state she was in just before, Liu Xin’an couldn’t help but ask curiously.

Bae Juhyun held the cup with both hands, thought for a moment, then honestly confessed, "I accidentally deleted what you filmed."

"Oh, if it’s deleted, it’s deleted. No worries, I didn’t shoot much anyway."

Liu Xin’an spread his hands, signaling Bae Juhyun not to worry about it.

After hearing this, Bae Juhyun finally relaxed a bit.

Thanks to buying coffee, their hands that had separated re-locked together. Bae Juhyun continued to pull Liu Xin’an as they wandered Daegu’s night streets.

The direction they headed this time was entirely different from the afternoon, and the night in Daegu was also very different from the afternoon.

There were more people on the streets at this time, occasionally Liu Xin’an would see some students in uniforms passing by them.

Truth be told, every time Bae Juhyun pulled him through the crowd, Liu Xin’an felt incredibly nervous.

He was afraid that Bae Juhyun would be recognized by someone accidentally, so he was always on edge.

On the other hand, Bae Juhyun seemed totally at ease.

Being an artist, she knew all too well that appearing nervous in a crowd would draw more attention.

So it was best just to act normal.

And... it wouldn’t matter too much if they were spotted, as long as nothing was recorded and uploaded online, everything still had room for damage control.
