Chapter 63: Chapter 63: The Beginning of the Scandal

The two returned to the private room, one after the other, and everyone seemed not to notice anything unusual. As soon as they walked in, they were encouraged to pick songs to sing.

A few of them sang until the early hours before finally calling it a night.

Since they all had a few drinks and, due to their special status, it was inconvenient to call for a ride-hailing service, they had to arrange for a driver to come pick them up.

Lew Yuan asked Zhou Yun, "Xiao Yun, do you have a ride coming to get you, or do you need me to drop you off?"

Song Chi said, "Brother Lew, it’s okay, there’s a car coming to pick me up soon, I can take her with me."

Lew Yuan nodded, "Alright then."

Song Chi’s car arrived first, and Lew Yuan personally escorted the two to the car, waving goodbye to them, then stepped back and watched them leave.

As Zhou Yun got into the car, she wondered if it might be better to avoid any suspicion in this situation.

"Where do you live?" Song Chi asked.

Zhou Yun recited her address.

Song Chi told the driver, "Please drop her off here first."

Through the car window, light streamed by, and it was a very quiet night, with even the streetlights casting a solitude aura.

They were silent all the way to the bottom of Zhou Yun’s apartment building.

Zhou Yun said, "Thank you, I’ll get off here."

"Zhou Yun," Song Chi called out.

Zhou Yun paused her hand from opening the car door.

Song Chi said, "Goodnight."

"Goodnight," Zhou Yun smiled with relief, opened the car door, waved to Song Chi inside the car, and went up to her apartment.

She had no work in the morning and a photo shoot in the afternoon the next day.

Zhou Yun left a message for Zheng Xiaojue: Come pick me up at noon tomorrow.

Unexpectedly, Zheng Xiaojue was still up and replied: Okay, Sister Xiao Yun.

Zhou Yun was a bit surprised and asked: You haven’t gone to bed yet?

Zheng Xiaojue said: I was waiting for your message, afraid you might need someone to pick you up at night.

Zhou Yun didn’t expect this young lady to be so earnest and, while finding it slightly amusing, said: Thank you, but in the future, you don’t have to wait up for me unless I specifically ask.

Zheng Xiaojue: No worries, Sister Xiao Yun, I usually stay up late anyway, just call me if you need anything.

Zhou Yun thought about the phone call from Zhou Lan earlier.

She hesitated but decided to make a call to Zheng Xiaojue.

"Sister Xiao Yun?"

"Xiaoju, after the show was recorded, did you tell Sister Lan that I went out to eat with Lew Yuan and the others?"

Without even thinking, Zheng Xiaojue answered, "I did. Sister Lan told me to report your itinerary to her."

Zhou Yun didn’t respond immediately.

After a while, Zheng Xiaojue seemed to realize something was off and cautiously asked, "Sister Xiao Yun, should I not have told Sister Lan?"

"No, it’s okay to report routine activities like that," Zhou Yun laughed, "I was just curious how she knew I went to dinner with them when she left in the middle of my show recording. As long as it was your report, it’s fine."

Zheng Xiaojue seemed to grow even more anxious.

"Sister Xiao Yun, did I, did I do something wrong?" Zheng Xiaojue’s tone was clearly nervous.

"Xiaoju, don’t worry, it’s really okay, I’m not blaming you," Zhou Yun said, "It’s late, you should rest now, just come pick me up tomorrow at noon."

"Okay, sure," Zheng Xiaojue swiftly agreed.

Meanwhile, Lin Xiaomiao had just returned to her apartment.

She excitedly cleared off a space on the table, took out her laptop from her bag, and set it on the table.

She turned on the laptop and inserted the card reader into the port.

Her eyes glittered with a determined and excited light.

While transferring the photos from the card reader to the laptop, Lin Xiaomiao made a phone call, paying no mind to the late hour or the fact that the person on the other end might be asleep.

"Do you have any idea what time it is?" the person on the line responded, clearly irate.

Lin Xiaomiao chuckled softly and said, "Boss, you better prepare the bonus you promised me because you’ll have to transfer it into my account tomorrow."

The person on the other end was silent for half a second.

"Did you get the shot?"

"That’s right." Lin Xiaomiao nodded vigorously, even though the other person couldn’t see it, betraying her inner excitement, "Got it. Song Chi and Zhou Yun, they truly are involved!"
