Chapter 49: Chapter 49: The Beginning of the Scandal

Zhou Yun felt quite innocent, and had never expected to be just a chess piece dragged into this.

"How should we handle this then?" Zhou Yun asked, "Do you have any good ideas?"

Song Chi suddenly chuckled softly.

"What’s so funny?" Zhou Yun furrowed her brows in confusion.

"I’m thinking, if the two of us post on Weibo at this moment, saying we aren’t part of ’Spring Cold’, would it seem like we’re synchronizing our stories after having been through a media storm?" Song Chi said, "I don’t want them to get the impression that their attitudes can dictate my choices."

"You’re pretty cold towards your fans."

"That’s always been the case."

"Wouldn’t your fans feel hurt if they knew you said that?"

"My existence has never been about pleasing others."

"But could you still be so defiant without those fans?"

"Whether a person can speak defiantly or not, what does that have to do with others?" Song Chi quipped, "Your thinking is somewhat vulgar."

"I would like to be as free-spirited as you are, but I’m not like you. A slight misstep, perhaps a misplaced word, could offend those I can’t afford to offend, and I might be blacklisted forever without a chance to turn things around."

Song Chi: "Didn’t expect you to be so whiny."

"..." Zhou Yun felt she couldn’t continue this conversation with Song Chi.

Their paths to growth were different, and naturally, so were their insights.

Song Chi became popular as soon as he debuted, never experiencing the taste of obscurity, let alone Zhou Yun’s current predicament: seniors in the company suppressing her, contracts that shackled her, unable to leave this swamp, struggling for a chance to thrive.

But in a fleeting moment, Zhou Yun envied Song Chi. Who wouldn’t envy such forthright expression of likes and dislikes? Because she couldn’t do it herself, she envied it all the more.

"Why have you stopped talking?" Song Chi asked.

"No point in talking if we don’t click." Zhou Yun retorted.

Song Chi seemed like he had been slapped in the face, silent for a while, probably shocked that "this young girl Zhou Yun dared to disrespect him".

"Do you really have a plan or not? If not, I’m going to sleep," Zhou Yun added.

Song Chi couldn’t keep quiet any longer and had to say, "You go to sleep, I’ll think about what to do."

Zhou Yun replied "Oh," and hung up the phone.

Song Chi looked at the phone in surprise, which had ended the call. He didn’t expect Zhou Yun to really just hang up like that.

Not even saying goodnight?

Song Chi put down the phone, pondered for a long time, and suddenly a flash of inspiration struck him, recalling something Zhou Yun had said to him.

—But I’m not like you. A slight misstep, or perhaps a misplaced word, could offend those I can’t afford to offend, and I might be blacklisted forever without a chance to turn things around.

If Zhou Yun’s cautious attitude was all about fearing offense, why was she so blunt with him?

And retorting with "No point in talking if we don’t click"?

What did that mean?

Did it mean that he was someone she could afford to offend?

Song Chi scoffed coldly, slightly irritated, his gaze drifting towards the phone.

Should he give Zhou Yun a call back to remind her properly that he is Song Chi, not some nobody in the entertainment industry? If she continued to be impolite to him, he should be careful that he might publicly state he would never work with Zhou Yun again. If he said that, anyone who wanted to work with him would blacklist her.

Song Chi shook his leg, suddenly his eyes lit up.
