Zhou Yun is not usually someone who likes to take the initiative to tease others, and she doesn’t know what got into her today. Watching Song Chi’s calm and composed appearance in his Western attire, she couldn’t hold back, going from one comment to the next. It started as a joke, but towards the end, seeing that Song Chi was unexpectedly somewhat flustered and shy, Zhou Yun was stunned like she had encountered a rare animal.
This was nothing like the Song Chi she usually knew. Just like when she was chatting with him on WeChat yesterday, she felt that the Song Chi on WeChat was also different from the one usually in front of the cameras.
In fact, not only was Zhou Yun surprised by Song Chi, but Song Chi was equally surprised by Zhou Yun.
He originally thought that even if Zhou Yun wasn’t as sweet as her on-camera persona, at least she would be a serious beauty closely matching her appearance. Who would have thought that the real person was even harder to deal with than her WeChat persona? This was different from the arrogance and contempt she displayed towards Su Yan last night.
But like last night, this side of her also made Song Chi feel a bit peculiar and strange, giving him a tingling sensation in his heart.
"Do you know that you’re dining out with me? Does your agent know?" Song Chi asked.
Zhou Yun nodded, saying, "Of course she knows. She was even ready to take me back this morning. Doesn’t your agent know?"
Song Chi suddenly became serious and said, "She doesn’t know. That’s actually the main reason I invited you out today."
"Hm?"
"I want to formally apologize to you," Song Chi earnestly said, "After our photo went viral on the trending searches, my agent bought a bunch of trolls to attack you, thinking it was a trap you set."
Zhou Yun looked at Song Chi in shock.
Song Chi continued, "I knew about it too, but I didn’t stop it, until you posted that Weibo yesterday. That’s when I realized we might have misunderstood."
Song Chi’s attitude was very sincere.
Zhou Yun smiled helplessly.
"Song Chi, your agent, um, I remember his name is Luo Yuhu, right? Does he still think that I’m trying to leverage your fame?" Zhou Yun asked. As she did, a certain nonchalance flickered in her eyes—an expression familiar to those who know her well was a sign that the more Zhou Yun cared inside, the more she tended to adopt an indifferent facade in a stress response. Unfortunately, there are too few people in this world who know Zhou Yun well; she nearly had no friends.
Song Chi silently lowered his head.
"Actually, there are quite a few people who think about doing this, and many have done it. It’s just that I feel you’re different," Song Chi said, "My agent and I... never mind, there’s nothing good to say."
"It’s alright," Zhou Yun suddenly said.
"What?" Song Chi almost thought he had heard wrong.
Zhou Yun gave a faint smile, a delicate yet captivating gleam in her eyes like the touch of a dragonfly on water.
"I’m not completely innocent either. It’s just that I didn’t actively direct and act in it myself," Zhou Yun spread her hands, "If you’re apologizing because you feel sorry for me, then there’s really no need. Your agent’s lack of trust is actually founded, I can’t deny that these past few days, due to my connection with you, there has been a significant improvement in my work."
Song Chi frowned.
Just then, the waiter knocked on the door and came in to serve the dishes.
Song Chi obviously had given a heads-up to the restaurant beforehand, and the waiter serving the dishes didn’t even glance at them, swiftly setting the plates before leaving the room.
The private room remained quiet.
