Chapter 943 - 944: Lofvis’s Contract

Chapter 943: Chapter 944: Lofvis’s Contract

Immediately, Wen Wen’s expression turned serious as he initiated the Cataclysm Prison state and took out an ancient book, which was Lofvis’s Rune Book.

Within the Sanctuary, Wen Wen possessed Catastrophe-Level strength and did not have to worry about being contaminated by Lofvis’s will through the Rune Book, thus enabling him to communicate with the other side to an extent.

"Hey, Silly, are you there?"

In the Inner World’s Pale Forest, Lofvis was dozing on the ground. Upon hearing the message, he immediately turned over, a hint of anger emerging in his expression.

"It’s you again, you despicable fellow. Speak, what do you want this time?"

During his cultivation, Wen Wen had delved deep into this Rune Book, thus having a few communications with the ’God of Runes’ Lofvis on the other side.

Most of those communications were meaningless verbal spats. Wen Wen simply wanted to indulge in the thrill of verbally sparring with a Catastrophe-Level expert, knowing the other side couldn’t retort.

Yet, through these verbal duels, Wen Wen also gleaned Lofvis’s desires.

Lofvis was desperate to come to the real world, not for slaughter and conquest, but simply to find a place to live peacefully.

In the Inner World, he was basically the punching bag for other Star Realm Gods, and his followers were all mentally challenged, leaving him with no one to chat with to relieve his boredom. Even verbal spats with Wen Wen were among his few entertainments.

Lofvis sounded like a peace-seeking Catastrophe-Level being, but Wen Wen didn’t believe a word of it.

He still remembered how Lofvis’s two attempts to interfere with reality led to irreversible tragedies.

However, in Wen Wen’s view, Lofvis still had some utility.

Wen Wen picked his nose and asked, "Silly, you once said if I help you enter this world, you could work for me for a century, right?"

Lofvis was taken aback; wasn’t this guy here to cause trouble this time?

He hesitated a moment and said, "Not as your servant, just helping you out occasionally, and it can’t put me in life-threatening situations..."

Wen Wen continued, "And you said you wouldn’t cause slaughter in this world, just needed a small island as your territory, right?"

Lofvis nodded, "I could promise that for at least a century, provided no one disturbs me."

Wen Wen said in an enticing tone, "I have some information; in a few days, a passage will open in the Gray Mist Layer leading to this world."

"Using the Rune Book as an anchor, you could come through that passage, but the passage belongs to an Abyssal Lord, and you’ll have to fight him for it yourself..."

Lofvis’s eyes lit up, "Where is this location? Tell me quickly!"

"I can tell you, but you have to sign a contract first."

"We’re separated by two worlds; let’s sign the contract after I arrive. You must trust my integrity, I won’t go back on my word," Lofvis said righteously.

Wen Wen spat, "Pah! You think I’m joking with you? I’ve already prepared the contract here; I can project it to you through the Rune Book. If you don’t sign it, I absolutely won’t tell you!"

A phantom contract appeared in Wen Wen’s hand; it was a recruitment contract from the Sanctuary, and he overlaid it with the power of the Cataclysm Prison, turning the text into the agreement between him and Lofvis.

Projecting this phantom contract to the Inner World exerted some effort on Wen Wen. In fact, he could use the pages of the Rune Book as contract material, but he worried that a contract of insufficient level wouldn’t bind a Catastrophe-Level being.

"I’ll give you the passage location and use the Rune Book as an anchor at the target location, giving you a chance to descend into this world. If you can descend through this method, you must adhere to the contract terms."

Lofvis pondered for a moment, "I can sign the contract, but I have to contend with the Abyssal Lord, and you’re only providing location info and necessary anchorage, not warranting my assistance for a century."

"Then assist me three times, no other terms can change. If you’re not satisfied, I’ll find someone else; you’re not the only one eager to come to this world."

Wen Wen held the upper hand in the negotiation, leaving Lofvis with little room to bargain. Ultimately, he signed his name on the contract.

Wen Wen sent the scene he had detected that day to Lofvis through the Rune Book and then smiled:

"Wish you success on your journey, hope we meet in this world."

After closing the Rune Book, Wen Wen let out a sigh of relief.

He signed a contract with Lofvis actually to have Lofvis hold back the Pure White Lord on the other side, ideally causing both of them to lose and be unable to enter the real world.

The Eye of the Abyss had prepared extensively for this descent ritual; indeed, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, not easily thwarted.

The contract terms weren’t stringent on Wen Wen, allowing him significant maneuvering space.

When the time comes, he’ll try to balance both parties, ensuring neither can descend.

But if truly one Catastrophe-Level being must descend, Wen Wen hopes it won’t be the Pure White Demon but rather that silly Lofvis, at least having a contract to bind Lofvis.

Elsewhere, in the Pale Forest, Lofvis stood up.

He rummaged through the void and eventually pulled out a large bag, hoisting it onto his shoulder.

Looking at the Pale Forest he’d lived in for countless years and at the vacant-eyed followers, the departing Lofvis felt no sorrow, but rather a hint of excitement.

"You mentally challenged bunch, I’m finally rid of you!"

Then Lofvis’s expression turned somewhat pained; as a Star Realm God, he lacked the ability to cross the starry river, and reaching the location Wen Wen provided required a certain price, though he believed it was worth it.

...

After communicating with Lofvis, Wen Wen looked stern, now it was time to consider how to stop the ritual and keep as many demons from the automobile plant as possible.

According to the snitch Containment Officer’s intelligence, there were actually two such rituals planned in total.

Sihu City was the main site, with another unknown secondary site elsewhere.

The main site was the most suitable for descent; if the ritual was completed here without interference, Klauri would certainly descend.

But if the main site was discovered early by the Hunter Association or other organizations, the ritual would proceed at the secondary site.

The success rate of descending at the secondary site was only half, but Wen Wen didn’t know the secondary site location and had no way to promptly interfere; he didn’t want to gamble on that fifty percent chance.

To completely block Klauri’s descent possibility, it needed to be disrupted mid-way after the ritual started on this side.

Because Stardust’s arrival at the correct position was but a moment, the ritual could only start in that instant. Afterward, even if the secondary site wanted to disrupt the ritual, it wouldn’t be possible.
