Chapter 94 Catastrophe Prison Warden

Chapter 94: Chapter 94 Catastrophe Prison Warden

The second layer of the Sanctuary has now been activated, and Wen Wen could go through the disaster core area to the second layer, the Disaster Area.

There were a total of three position changes.

The first was the Disaster Containment Officer, which was pretty self-explanatory—an upgraded version of the Disaster Containment Officer.

There might be a new uniform, new equipment, but the job still involved searching the world for monsters, then capturing them. However, the monsters would likely be of a higher class than those the Disaster Containment Officer dealt with.

The second was the warehouse manager of the Disaster Area, which was currently of no use, for Wen Wen had yet to acquire any Disaster Level Containment Items...

As for the third, it was the Catastrophe Prison Warden, which Wen Wen was most concerned with!

This position could grant management authority over the prisons of both the Disaster Area and the disaster core area. From the description, this authority was quite high and could even release monsters...

As well as bringing other people into the prison!

Apart from these, there was something else that caught Wen Wen’s special attention.

That was the energy within the Catastrophe Gloves that Wen Wen could manipulate!

This energy could not be released; it could only accumulate on the Catastrophe Gloves. When Wen Wen stimulated this energy, the Catastrophe Gloves would generate a suction force.

Wen Wen was very clear about this suction force, which had effortlessly shattered a ghost stronger than Qin Shuang!

With this strength, Wen Wen would now be able to contend with ghosts!

Moreover, the Catastrophe Gloves now seemed to possess other abilities, but no matter how Wen Wen tried, he couldn’t utilize this ability.

It seemed that fulfilling certain conditions was necessary to use this kind of ability.

Without hesitation, Wen Wen asked the disaster core area for guidance and found the entrance to the second layer.

It was a spiral staircase etched with intricate patterns. When Wen Wen reached the top of the staircase, it automatically rose, transporting him into the second layer.

The control core of the second layer Disaster Area looked somewhat similar to the disaster core area but appeared to have undergone some high-class upgrades.

"The difference in classes really is omnipresent. But it seems that I’m at the very top level of the Sanctuary, so I like it."

After briefly inspecting the setup of the second layer, Wen Wen located the control core of the Disaster Area.

This control core was different from the metallic particle man of the first layer. It was a group of green light points floating above a platform.

After Wen Wen approached, the green light points coalesced into a woman in formal attire, everything about her green, varying only in shade.

"Disaster Containment Officer, code number 10086, welcome to the Disaster Area. Please collect your items."

A silver suitcase appeared before Wen Wen’s eyes.

Wen Wen frowned—why was there only one case? He had three job upgrades and should therefore have three sets of equipment.

"What about the other two?" Wen Wen inquired, not shy about pointing out the issue.

The green woman, just like the disaster core area control downstairs, was essentially like a computer program. She appeared intelligent but functioned much like a computer. Her responses were automatic within her authority, and outside it, she wouldn’t reveal a word.

"The uniform and Custodian Badge for the Disaster Containment Officer and the Disaster Area warehouse manager have already been upgraded. Please check your items."

"Already been upgraded?"

Wen Wen looked at his clothes and noticed that, unbeknownst to him, his pure black overcoat had changed.

At the collar, cuffs, and zippers, there were now some silver stripes, and a hood had been added to the back.

Not only had the appearance changed, but the material was different too, feeling tougher and more comfortable to wear!

He picked up the Custodian Badge, still a silver Pentagram with no changes there, but this silver shone brighter than before, and there were also some intricate patterns on it, making it look much more upscale than the previous badge!

"At least, before I stepped into the second layer, these things on me hadn’t changed... It seems that the promotion was completed only after I met that forgiving woman."

Contemplating, Wen Wen suddenly felt a sense of relief, "It’s a good thing I didn’t sell these clothes for a quick buck in the past, they are Divine Gear that can be upgraded..."

Since the uniform for a Containment Officer was like this, Wen Wen guessed the uniform for the storage manager was probably the same, so he stopped pondering and opened the only box.

This box contained a set of black robes, just like the other two boxes, it had a complete set of clothing except for underwear.

"There are even socks, why are there no underwear... Could it be that the staff of the Sanctuary doesn’t need to wear underwear?" Wen Wen inhaled sharply and began to consider whether he should carry on the proud traditions of the Catastrophe Containment Facility.

The Catastrophe Prison Warden’s outfit was a black and red robe, which came with a black cloak sporting a large hood and a mask that covered most of the face.

Once all of this gear was on, it would be difficult for others to recognize him.

Besides that, there was also a bronze-colored, spiked metal necklace that matched the patterns on the robe quite well, and it looked pretty good.

After trying it on and spinning around twice, Wen Wen was quite satisfied with this outfit, feeling a sense of inexplicable authority emanating from him.

If a Containment Officer was a combatant, and a storage manager was logistics personnel, then a Catastrophe Prison Warden was management.

A Catastrophe Prison Warden had three sorts of permissions.

First, to manage prison guards.

Of course, there were no prison guards in the Sanctuary for now, so this ability seemed somewhat pointless.

Second, to manage the prison.

Wen Wen could now change the layout of the cells, like adding a bed or a toilet to Tao Qingqing’s cell, or even switching monsters to different cells.

If he found a Monster unsightly, he could install a screen, and if it was noisy, he could soundproof it.

If he didn’t want others to interact with a Monster, he could even forbid communication from the Monster within the cell.

Third, to recruit prison guards!

This feature brightened Wen Wen’s eyes, as what he most desired was to bring others into the Sanctuary, so that the vast Catastrophe Containment Facility could operate.

He could now use the Black Chains to bring ordinary people into the Sanctuary.

However, ordinary people who entered the Sanctuary through this channel would be brainwashed and then put in shackles to become prison guards of the Catastrophe Containment Facility, living within the Sanctuary, never to leave.

Like slaves!

Because the job of a prison guard wasn’t just to manage cells, sometimes, to appease the Monsters, human sacrifices were required, and those would be the times for prison guards to offer themselves!

In Wen Wen’s Sanctuary, there weren’t too many Monsters yet, so such a demand didn’t arise, but in the future, it was inevitable.

Even the cells of the Sanctuary weren’t foolproof.

Therefore, the original Sanctuary typically used death row inmates as prison guards.

"Hmm... looking at it this way, recruiting prison guards seems like something a major villain would do, but I don’t mind."

Wen Wen felt no repulsion towards the fate of the prison guards, on the contrary, he saw it as a matter of course.

Sometimes, even if it meets with condemnation, a necessary evil must exist!
