Chapter 916: Chapter 916: The Entire Army is Wiped Out

A rotund chicken with a round face walked upright, pulling its sharp foot out of a man’s abdomen.

Then, with one hand, it grasped Geng Xingshu’s exoskeleton armor and flung him aside.

Luan Xing watched everything unfold before him indifferently, without attempting to stop any of it.

He knew that going out for exploration would be dangerous, but he never expected that with their abilities, they couldn’t even muster the strength to resist.

The rotund chicken glanced at Luan Xing disdainfully, then twisted its tail feathers flirtatiously and left, thinking these humans were weaklings with a combat power of just five — battling them brought no sense of accomplishment.

...

The drawing of lots last night selected Geng Xingshu and two other men and one woman; Luan Xing did not participate in the draw because he intended to lead the team personally.

He was very clear that if they stayed in the safe camp, they would be like frogs being slowly boiled in warm water, destined to be cooked to death eventually. Only outside was there any hope.

Though the tunnel was deep and dark, as long as one summoned the courage to walk out, they would find it was nothing significant.

The murals on the walls informed Luan Xing that some sort of ritual might be happening here, using the lives of these people to conduct a Blood Sacrifice to some entity.

Moreover, they discovered some ancient traps along the way, but most of these were worn out and even if a few were effective, Geng Xingshu could disarm them.

Everything was going smoothly until they saw four corpses, severely disfigured.

These people had likely died not too long ago; just like them, they were exploring outside. Judging by their death state, they likely had no ability to resist.

This scene sent chills down Luan Xing’s spine, and he wanted to alert everyone to rapidly return the way they came. But unexpectedly, a rotund chicken with a round face was already standing behind them...

...

Geng Xingshu stood up from the ground, with his joints feeling like they were dislocated, and glared angrily at Luan Xing: "Why didn’t you help?"

After the appearance of the rotund chicken, it quickly killed three people in the exploration team, and Geng Xingshu barely managed to exchange a couple of moves with it using the exoskeleton gloves, but he was no match for it.

What infuriated him the most was that throughout the process, Luan Xing coldly observed everything without moving a foot.

Luan Xing seemed to awaken from a dream and said to Geng Xingshu in dismay:

"Help? Heh... Hahaha."

"How can I help?"

"To resist that thing, you’d need a special combat group of at least ten people, fully armed. I only have a small handgun, what could I use to help?"

"We had just ventured a short distance out for exploration, and already encountered such a level of Monster. We can’t get out... From the moment we came in, our fate was already sealed."

"Let’s go back... At least in the camp, we can live two more days."

Luan Xing walked back indifferently toward the direction they came from, lacking the fierceness he had when starting out, instead resembling a walking corpse.

Geng Xingshu sighed and followed Luan Xing back since he couldn’t continue the Exploration alone.

As they returned, they didn’t encounter any dangers, but upon reaching the entrance of the safe camp, they were stunned because the sharp stakes and other things erected at the entrance had been violently destroyed, leaving the camp dead silent.

Their faces, already grief-stricken, became even more somber.

Their small wooden cabin had been completely destroyed; outside the cabin lay a wooden stake on which Li Wei sat, his face bruised and covered in blood, while the man with gold-framed glasses trembled as he sat on the ground.

"Where are the others?" Geng Xingshu asked urgently.

Li Wei shook his head: "After you left, a curly-haired ape came in here and killed the others."

Geng Xingshu was silent and sat despairingly on the ground.

Then Luan Xing silently raised his gun and pulled the trigger, shooting the man with gold-framed glasses in the forehead.

"What are you doing!"

Geng Xingshu was horrified, quickly turning and running several steps away, but was still hit in the leg by Luan Xing’s shot.

Luan Xing said in a flat tone: "Old Geng, you saw the mural too, this is just a sacrificial rite, perhaps someone is watching with a glass of wine, enjoying our woeful state."

"Remaining in the camp spells certain death, going out to explore means death too, so we might as well end it ourselves, at least then we die by human hands!"

Geng Xingshu cursed explosively: "Are you insane! If you want to die, you can do it yourself, don’t drag us into it."

"Rest assured, after you all die, I will commit suicide. Ever since we came in, we’ve been at the mercy of that thing, I’d like to choose my death at least."

Luan Xing’s eyes were lifeless, devoid of any emotional waves.

Previously, no matter the difficulty, he was never afraid. He firmly believed he could lead everyone out of here, but that hope was cruelly shattered today by the Monsters.

Seeing only two people left alive in the camp, Luan Xing’s heart had already died.

"You can’t kill me." Li Wei withdrew his dagger, his voice cold.

Luan Xing shook his head: "I know you’re quite capable, but your gun is out of bullets, with just a dagger, could you be faster than me?"

Li Wei stood up, readying a running posture: "Beyond fourteen steps, the gun’s quicker, but within fourteen steps... I’m quicker!"

The turf was kicked up, and Li Wei charged at Luan Xing like a black rabbit, nimble and evasive; Luan Xing’s shots couldn’t hinder his advance.

Li Wei grabbed Luan Xing’s hand, directly disarming him and then slashed at Luan Xing’s throat.

After tossing the knife aside, Li Wei walked a few steps and then knelt down, eventually succumbing to being shot. Previously having been punched by the curly-haired ape, what he once could do, he now couldn’t.

Lying on the ground, Li Wei laughed twice at Geng Xingshu: "Now it’s just the two of us left, if anything else comes, we probably won’t be able to fend it off, let’s just chat for a bit..."

As soon as Li Wei finished speaking, his body transformed into a mirror surface, and then shattered, disappearing into thin air.

Geng Xingshu’s mouth opened wide, and before he could say anything, he realized he too had disappeared.

Upon opening his eyes, Geng Xingshu found himself sitting in a completely white room, with Li Wei, Luan Xing, the security captain, and the man with gold-framed glasses sitting beside him.

Apart from the five of them, there were more than twenty other people present.

"Is this place heaven?" Geng Xingshu paused for a moment, "No, there’s no heaven... Around us are all Foundation employees!"

In this white room, the part of his memory that was blocked had been restored completely, while the memories from the survival game were blurred.

Geng Xingshu immediately guessed that everything they had experienced might have been some kind of test.

Now, as the test had ended, it was time to explain the results, and for some reason, Geng Xingshu felt a bit nervous.
